Apparently Laporta is a good bit behind in the opinion polls and if the election were to be held today, he'd lose.
Hence all this dramatic Pogba talk to claw back some ground.
Basically if Laporta loses, Pogba will probably be in a City / Chelsea shirt next season

If im not mistaken Laporta won the election years ago on the back of Beckham's name who then went to Real Madrid.

Worked out pretty well for him in the end though as he then turned to Ronaldinho who was close to signing for us.

Also, other reports in Italy saying Roma do want Dzeko but are struggling to raise the funds to buy him and want to offer Adam Ljajic as part of the deal.

He looked lighter? I was actually thought the contrary, but perhaps it was just a visual thing, specially when he went up against that England midfield

Yeah he had one of the lowest wages when he returned from Belgium loan. President took too long to renew his contract. A bit better now but he obviously can get better abroad. Leonardo Jardim would be a great influence (as probably Jorge Jesus) but i´d prefer to see him at Germany, Spain or England. Big rumours about Bayern since he played and bossed that German midfield. He got big praise from a German FA rep with ties to Beckenbauer.

It´s a matter of perception and sometimes of the level of the opponent. For instance against Porto he has always been a beast and aggressive. On other times he just doesn´t look arsed. But playing at a higher level like in England i think he would improve on that like i said.

That was hilarious, Hughes was literally bouncing off him in that game, it was like a steamroller plowing through a field of under 17's. :D

Bayern would be a huge move for him, I wonder how they'd fit him and Javi Martinez in though, as both play a very similar type of game. Unless Pep wants to use Martinez as a CB again.

I guess it could be that in some games it's too easy for him and he switches off, there's even been a bit that in the Euros. Certainly in the ultra competitive PL he'd grow out of that habit.

Roma has the worst American owners. I thought they came with money but Roma is like in the old days, scrapping for money...
Buying Džeko would be massive.

I'm sure papers are clueless...They are now saying the deal is expected to be completed at the end of the week not 48 hours as reported on Sunday.

The first paragraph of the article says we hope to complete it before the end of the week.

I think the article was from yesterday, but this is the first Ogden has reported on this move.

Pogba seems like the most overpriced player in the history of football.
We paid similar money for Di Maria (who hopefully will soon show at Utd that he is no doubt the 3rd best player in the world but still a small chance he might not settle and remain pants) so it's all relative.....If Pogba becomes the new Zidane wherever he goes which is very possible then his price tag will have been a crazy bargain...He was rubbish against Barca in the CL Final but there was many a game when the likes of Ronaldo, Giggs, Scholes were rubbish against Barca while wearing a Utd Jersey

It sure has kicked off in the last few days. After a month of nothing, we could now be all done by the end of next week. Ramos, Coleman and Schneiderlin all looking likely. One more signing left perhaps?

Not getting excited yet. We might end up with none of them.

I don't get these moves at all. Eto'o was winning Champions League with Barcelona 6 years ago and with Inter 5 years ago being instrumental to both these teams. Why won't he just retire and move on instead of going to clubs no one has ever heard of to collect final pay check which is about ten times lower than what he was paid in his prime anyway? Do they really want to be remembered for playing for Antalyaspor? Rivaldo was ridiculous at that, he played for about a dozen teams that did not even exist.

COPE | Despite the interest from Roma, Casillas wants to stay at Real Madrid for one more year & continue to fulfill his contract.

Add Coleman, Ramos and Schneiderlinn to Depay and we would be doing some brilliant business so far. Would still need 1 or 2 more though.
