The only type of player they need is a proper DM/holding player. Like I said, Vidal is obviously a quality player but he's not a proper holding midfielder. He neither has the positional discipline or the passing range. You wouldn't have him in Carricks place would you? He'd be in a midfield with him.

No but, personally, I don't think they need one. They just need someone who could do a job there for the odd game. Think they'll cause themselves more problems if they go out an buy another holding player.

In my opinion, Ramsey is their best player other than Sanchez.

Central midfield wise I think Cazorla is. He pulls the strings. If another one comes in and is a big name, he will take up a place. Plus Ozil, Sanchez and Coquelin. That leaves no space for another midfielder.

If Vidal is available I'd rathar we get him instead of Schweinsteiger as he's couple of years younger and less injury prone. And would give atleast 4-5 years at top level.

As an aside, it pains me to say this but if Arse manage to get him along with Cech I'd put them as serious title contendors.

Really? Don't think he looks the same player he was 2 years ago.

We must have a good reason why we are not going for Clyne after seemingly chasing him for months before May.

Yes, I'm sure we do have a good reason. Has there ever been anything more than speculation that we were 'chasing' him?

Either the manager doesn't think he's enough of an upgrade on our current options, or he wasn't high enough on our priority list for us to jump in for him when Liverpool started making moves.

The team that likes to Arda is the Man.United. Expected a movement on the market which triggers all others.

It all went a bit weird with Clyne. All the noises coming out during May were that we were on the verge of signing him, then suddenly we apparently dropped interest and Clyne sacked his agent, Koemon came out saying that he expected Clyne to sign a new contract at Southampton in the coming weeks, and now he's off to Liverpool. Quite odd.

Chasing him for months? Lol

Maybe, maybe...registered a passing interest. But given how average and limited he is, I suspect we ruled him out a while ago.

Interest in Clyne settled when we were in for Alves. I remember Luckhurst saying UTD were very interested in Alves and annoyed when he had re-signed and was giving other clubs the wind up by saying he wants to leave.

I imagine after that we decided not to go back in for clyne, looking at other options now.

So Otamendi knows he is treated as second choice andbseems content with that?
Sounds like bullshit.

If what that guy says is true he either gets to move to Madrid or United. A win win for him I would expect.
