It makes no sense from his point of view really, when Barca and Real have both courted him.

He moved to Juve for career reasons and has done well out it, I'd give him more credit than to turn merc at this point

Hmm, he moved to Juve because they were willing to pay what we weren't. Yes, it has worked out from a career perspective but Pogba was taking a massive risk moving to an (at the time) stagnant, poor Italian league. Kudos to him for having the confidence to believe he was good enough to become a star at such a young age but many other young players with huge potential have faded away in such circumstances.

First team was obviously a requirement of his but I'm fairly confident he would've stayed with us if we gave in to the financial demands.

This guy knows feck all right ? :nervous:

He will know a lot from Arsenal point of view, but not so much from Schneiderlin's. Now what he said in that tweet isn't even a secret, Schneiderlin representatives seem to have spent the last 4 or 5 years telling the french press that Arsenal was his favored destination.

That has been debunked. Gill said that we didn't hold back financially when offering him a new deal. Looked more like assurances of first team football was the main concern.

Arsenal just seems more likely to me for Schneiderlin. I don't know exactly why, maybe it's just the pessimist in me, I can just picture him playing for Arsenal more easily than I can for us...

Because he's French, they have a French manager, and several French players perhaps?

Phillip Auclair is a good journo and usually stays away from transfer stuff so I think it's something he must be certain about .

Yup ,in fact Wenger and Schneiderlin are from the same part of France and both played for Straousburg at different times

Literally one tweet based on conjecture and it's a 'oh well Arsenal were always the likely destination'
Makes no sense to me. What would he know that the reliable gooner journos doesn't?

Do have to wonder what signing Schneiderlin would mean for the golden boy Jack Wilshere and the best player in world football in 13/14 Aaron Ramsey. They have better #10's there so Wilshere wouldn't start in that position and Schneiderlin is better than he is in a deeper role. Ramsey isn't really a wide player and has said himself that he prefers playing more centrally, right? Where would that leave him? With Walcott fit I'd think he starts on the right.

Can't see either being content with being squad players.

:lol::lol: 7 millions? I see Jorge Mendes has managed to rip off another club to help out his pal the Braga President. In no way i would believe that a club would pay that ammount for a donkey like Éder who can´t even have a decent scoring record in the portuguese league. He´s worth 2 millions top. I don´t believe in this till it´s official.

Eder FFS. This guy was incredibly shit at the World Cup, it was unbelievable.

Just in the World Cup? He´s incredibly shit everywhere. This is clearly another Jorge Mendes ripoff. Any scout who watched him in the past two years see that he isn´t good enough to warrant a top league move. And he´s injury prone also. Unbelievable Jeff indeed.

Just saw him there and it was enough.

I´m just imagining a Gomis Éder attacking duo. So bad. I´d prefer to keep Nélson Oliveira and i don´t even rate him that highly

What storm is that then? I think we're a few weeks away from any 'Storm'

The storm that will be our signings, be positive, my friend.

Next Monday, Schneiderlin; Tuesday, Ramos; Wednesday, Otamendi; Thursday, De Gea pledges his future; Friday, Ed Woodward becomes Sir Ed Woodward.

Whilst Woodward is fannying about trying to sign his own galacticos. The fans and footballing world would probably be more impressed with Pogba and Otamendi than Ramos and Schweinsteiger.

I'm sure we would have prioritized Pogba over Bastian if Pogba was interested in coming back here (and we wanted to spend €80m on a CM)

I agree with the sentiment and I am usually anti buying players because of their profile. But I would think Pogba is more of a Galactico signing now than Schweinsteiger wouldn't you say? As for Otamendi and Ramos, Ramos is definitely the more high profile but in this specific case, he quite simply fits the profile we are looking for more than Otamendi. Whether we like it or not, Van Gaal is aiming to push high up and wants from his defenders to push and help pressing and starting attacks which if applied successfully negates the need for a proper CB. Not to mention that in Smalling we have a relatively good "traditional" defender as far as I'm concerned. So I'd make an exception for Ramos on those terms.

Woodward is trying to sign the players van Gaal has asked him too.

I don't know why, but the muppet in me is not lightning up this transfer window.

Maybe past windows finally started taking their toll?

I'm not sure if that is entirely true to some extent. I mean, if Van Gaal genuinely asked for Dani Alves and Ramos before going on holiday (which was before the Ramos thing kicked off I think), then I'd be amazed. Unless Van Gaal personally monitors all players contract situations, which I seriously doubt.

From what Van Gaal said this season, he didn't seem to have a clue about most of last year's signings. He barely played Herrera for months and admitted he didn't know what to do with Di Maria, which was reflected in him warming the bench for most of the 2nd half of the season. Unless Van Gaal is just a transfer Muppet that doesn't listen to his scouts and signs players based off players he's coached previously or seen on Revista de La Liga on a Saturday night.
