Would be a good move for him I think. Recently Milan failed to sign all of their targets and a proven name like Robin might be ideal for them. They tried to sign Ibrahimovic also and he is older than van Persie so age is not an issue for them it seems.

Shame. If it goes through, will be quite the start by Liverpool this summer. Solid signings to start with and a player who seems to be very highly rated based on his performances in Germany and is still 23. And that young centre back people seem to think has potential.

Seriously, what is up with the Mirror and "De Donut"? It's like that one guy you know who keeps making the same joke that was never funny and is now way past being original.

That's exactly what I thought. Does anyone actually call him that besides The Mirror? Its like some sort of thing you get in the playground.

Globoesporte seen like the Express of Brazil. Just a week ago, they were saying some deal to us?

Morning all! Our front page today on United preparing a €30m + De Gea offer for Sergio Ramos.

Jesus wept. €30million plus one of the top three goalkeepers in the world for a 29 year old centre back. Really hope it's just AS trying to push a better deal via the press, otherwise that deal is going to taste mighty bitter.

To be fair the price is slightly irrelevant to us, we are obviously going to lose DDG so if we can get them to sell Ramos then it's a good deal

That's 20mil pounds + de gea right? I didn't expect to get more than 20mil for him anyways. 40mil for Ramos isn't exorbitant in today's market.

I hope thst you are right but he is provoking too much noise
He did consult with his brother how to deal with this situation though. Maybe they are just leaking false details to pressure your club.

£40m for Ramos would probably represent his market value honestly. 29 isn't old for defender and he's one of the best defenders around.

Some posters in as are writing that is no way 12m.Actually I think that happened in the past with di Maria, the amounts were also exaggerated

The current record fee for a defender is €44.8mill, which was for Rio all the way back in 2002, although Thiago Silva was very close behind 3 years ago when he went to PSG. The £40mill that you mention here works out at just over €56million, so I'd argue that a fee which is 25% higher than the current transfer record for a defender is slightly exorbitant for a player who turns 30 next season.

David Luiz went for 50m last year...

David Luiz is the most expensive defender ever with a transfer fee of 62 million Euros. 56 for Ramos is a fair number if PSG are throwing about 62 for a worthless defender.

Great business being done by Arsenal this year, they're sorting out problems they've needed sorting for a while. GK, Striker -- they're a world class CB and midfielder away from having a championship winning squad (providing they sign Aubameyang).

My bad, totally forgot about that hairy git!

I still think there's something dodgy behind the scenes with that deal. The price was insane for a player that hadn't even lit the Premier League alight that season.

As others have mentioned, Luiz holds the record now. Fees in the past don't really matter as the market wasn't as batshit mental back then and no top defender has moved recently.

If a player like Ramos moved today, 40mil would be the price.

Aubemeyang is a far cry from the world class striker they need.

I agree that they are getting closer to a title challenge, though I doubt it would happen unless they can obtain a top class goal scorer.

Aubemeyang is not that good really, and Cech deal still isnt official.

He has a record of roughly one in two for Dortmund -- he's also very quick. Add him to Giroud and Welbeck (plus their wide options, Sanchez, Walcott, Chamberlain) and it looks very good for them up front.

World class, no -- but it's a solid buy imo.

Yeah but I dont think its an upgrade on Giroud or Welbeck.

He would another option, sure. Don't think he is someone who will take their strike force to the next level, he hardly filled the void left by Lewandoski at BVB.

The price mentioned also seems way over the top for what Wenger would pay for a player his quality.

Had been known by the modmins for a while. Orc had only ever really posted in Chelsea threads, Mourinho related threads etc. Was clear he was a Chelsea fan masquerading as a United fan.
Fair enough!

Can't see Dortmund letting him go anyways.

Well, he won't take their first 11 to the next level but will take their squad to the next level.

That's probably true, would be weird if Dortmund sold.

What should be the fee for Ramos according to you?

It shouldn't be De Gea + 20m, if it comes as part of an exchange for De Gea. David is already one of the top three keepers in the world at 24, with the potential to get better and be part of Real's team for another 10 years at least. Ramos will be 30 midway through next season and wants to get out.

If we for a moment forget De Gea, then I would not pay more than 25m-30m pounds for a 29 year old defender looking for a way out in search of his last mega pay day.
