This isn't a transfer tweet.

Damn straight it is... Memphis cryptic'ing the hell out of his "holiday" with his "friends".

Say no more indeed.

I am late on this but, this is silly from Rio. Especially since he broke the World transfer record for a defender when he was around Sterling's age and broke it again when he was around. And that was 14 and 12 years ago. So he had to deal with a lot of "overpriced" talk. And while I guess he has a point about Kane since he does not have a ton of games played for a player of his age. But, Raheem Sterling has been on the first team for 3 seasons, has played in the Champions League, has played in the World Cup, was an extremely important player for a team that finished second and attacking players tend to go for more than defenders did. Like himself if Kane and Sterling are able to fulfill their potential people will stop talking about the price.

And how's that Rio's fault?
He's totally right - english players are waaay overpaid.

We paid 30m pounds for Luke Shaw. For a teenager who played 66 league games and appeared twice for England.
Two years before that Jordi Alba, established player who just won EURO with Spain, went to Barcelona for 14m euros, which is one third of what we paid.

Would be happy with Schweini....if it wasnt for the Mirror.

Edit: I see it is Steve Bates, but the English journos rarely get something right these days. I hope we can lure him here, would be fantastic.

Steve Bates is well sourced on Utd so he's one to take note of. However, the headline doesn't necessarily reflect the tone of the article.

Nope, a lot of speculation there. On the other hand getting Schweini means no Schneiderlin i suppose, which would be a shame. Both would be great, but i read somewhere that he is the back up option.

I'd be gutted if we don't sign Schneiderlin, but Schweinsteiger would be a good signing for us.

I am just saying it is pretty rich of Rio Ferdinand to complain about it since he had to deal with the same overpriced nonsense when he was young. The reason why the fees are so high and the players make so much is because of the money that is available in England. It is silly for Rio to complain about it since he benefited from it too. Also to the Alba/Shaw point Alba had only one year left on his contract while Shaw had four years left on his. Plus Illarmendi wnet for 32 million so it is not like it is unheard of in Spain.

It's not the same (but we did overpay at the time) as Rio had 5 years of professional football behind him, became the youngest ever English defender (when that meant something), Leeds already paid 18mil for him and he improved which is the most important thing, he was constantly improving and at the time he came to United he had over 170 games under his belt.

The Kane and Sterling situation are more comparable with the Rooney situation (Sterling actually dipped in form this season so he is even worse), while Rio's is more comparable to someone like Hazard with achievement he had at the time, only that he played longer and he was already in the league.

I agree, we overpaid for him, but you can't compare him with Kane and Sterling (you can compare Shaw to them, or Rooney, but not him).

Telegraph: West Ham increase their bid for Dimitri Payet to £14m after having a £12m bid rejected.
