If he can stay fit, he is. That is the start for any defender in terms of being an improvement on our lot.
If it is as well as Otamendi, then fine. If not, it is just making our defence even more inexperienced. We need experience, not just bodies.

And a keeper who's a good sweeper/can pass a ball is incapable of learning this? Also, how do you think Cech would cope with our high defensive line?

No, but he has to have the physical characteristics for starters and in truth we don't have the luxury of trying to train one on the job like we did De gea, back then we had two top class CB's and a settled team that gave De Gea a safety net, that is no longer the case. I think Cech would need us to be a little more conservative with our defensive line.

25m£ will be a good price for him I think. Although, an Italian journalist breaking the story of an Argentinian defender transferring from a Spanish club to an English club doesn't seem very likely.

just about to type this word for word...crazy!

Nicolo has one of the most punchable faces I've ever seen.

La Gazzetta dello Sport > Mirror

Send Evans the other way and we could end up getting him for reasonable price. Rate him very highly and when compared to our young CBs, Blackett and McNair he's in a different league. I'd be quite happy if he was the only CB we bring in this summer.

Evans permanently & Januzaj on loan. A win-win situation for everyone.

Not really for Everton tbf - try to develop a player who's confidence must be on the floor , and gain a crock who is in a rapid decline, whilst losing the best young English defender around.

Reckon if they could be persuaded to sell they'd want straight cash and lots of it.

Stones would be more of what we have already in Our CB ranks.

Though won't mind signing him as i rate him highly but if we have to sign a CB would prefer a experienced one who can already be more consistent and established.

Yep we need a solid regular starter. This suggests LVG would be sticking with Jones. Still, on the up side, Stones isn't Evans.

Same here, we need experience or who the hell is going to organise that defence. Cannot see them being happy getting ordered about by a 20 year old.

Might be a big ask but is there any chance of a United only twitter thread?

I reckon this next week will be big for us. Hopefully we'll see some comings, and it's likely De Gea will finally make the leap as well.

Imagine if he came out and said he's decided to stay? After all, he hasn't said a single thing on the matter over the past few weeks... one can dream :(

That's the dream. It's up there with your missus coming home and telling you she's not going to leave you for another bloke after all.

Think you're been optimistic on much happening next week, Otemendi won't happen for a while, Kane will drag on for ever if we are interest, the midfielder's look miles off happening, I think the best we can hope for is a bid for a RB but I hope not tbh because I don't want Clyne.

Reckon DDG is way off been let go too, why would we when we haven't sorted a replacemt.

No for me it'll just be the rumours cranking up a notch and that's it.

Aye you make a good point. I can just see developments on the information that has come out of the club, such as admitting interest in Kane and the obvious interest in Schneiderlin and Otamendi. Despite who we're actually interested in, LVG has said that he wants these deals to happen as soon as possible - so surely something significant will come out of the club in the next week or two?!

Regarding Dave, I'm with you actually. We obviously don't want to let him go and dragging it out at least is the best thing we can do in case Madrid give up, he changes his mind or we actually get a decent sum for him.
