Newcastle Chronicle: Newcastle United move appeals to Charlie Austin - and club are closing in on striker.

#Mercadodepases Gran incorporación de Manchester United. Anuncian acuerdo en Inglaterra con Hoffenheim por Roberto Firmino (€18 millones).

Translation: Great incorporation of Manchester United. They've announced agreement for Roberto Firmino (€18m) in England

Am i the only one who's missed this announcement ?

According to Express + Metro... but they cite 'according to ESPN' and it seems to come from some random ESPN Brazil journo.

kicker | Schalke 04 manager Horst #Heldt has given a concrete offer to Mainz 05 for Johannes #Geis - Mainz want around €10m.

Sport1 | Marc #Wilmots is set to be the new coach at FC Schalke 04 - he wants to speak about his future on friday.

Firmino would be a great addition to the team. Looked handy whenever I've seen him play, and I'm sure I saw in the paper a few days ago that he came 3rd in the list of most successful dribbles in Europe last season after Messi and Hazard. We need a player like that who can beat a man without having to spend 2 minutes passing it back and forth across the pitch!

What the hell happened to Micah Richards, he was a beast not so long ago, England regular. It's weird how some players that have a big future just fall off the face of the earth.

I think Richards was mostly down to hype. He was a superb athlete at such a young age and most were inclined to ignore his actual footballing ability for that fact alone. Still think he could have turned out a bit better than he did though.

Injury prone and was half way between being a RB and a CB. I didn't think he was that good though.
Awfully reliant on his physicality, which is the sign of a midtable defender really. Should be decent for Villa if he can stay fit.

I agree but it's destined to be dead in the water in a week's time when he signs for _____(insert whoever from Juve, Barca etc).

Yeah suppose he was over hyped a bit (typical British youngster) injuries did ruin him I guess

Why is no one else after Geis? £7m is a bargain for a player who will be worth triple that in a year's time.

For those of you who wants to see Ze Elias talk about Firmino to United from earlier.

Zé Elias: 'Firmino deve ir para o Manchester United por 18 milhões de euros' http://es.pn/1e6tpnP

The translation of that is;

Zé Elias: ' Firmino must go to Manchester United for 18 million euros

That's not necessarily that it's a done deal.

Do we have any Portuguese speakers on the Caf that can clear up the context or language structure to understand if that's suggesting it's a done deal or not?

If we expect him to shine at the Copa, tying the deal up before the tournament kicks off makes financial sense. The risk is injury thereafter though.

He looked dead cert for Dortmund for a while with Tuchel arriving and the club wanting to strenghten in midfield with Gundogan leaving.

Seems like Schalke are ahead in the race though.

He says:
"O Firmino já estaria certo com o Manchester. Manchester United, por 18 milhões de euros"

The exact translation would be that Firmino already has everything set with Manchester United for 18mi euros. And he sayd something about him having n upgrade on his Adidas contract, becoming their third most endorsed player.

What do you make of it, reliable?

Oh, and Zé Elias also claim they are discussing if the exams could be made while he is with the Seleção, and be unveiled after the Copa América.

Zé Elias is an ex-player, so he must have a lot of contacts. But he's starting in his new career, so I really wouldn't have any info on him being actually reliable. ESPN tends to be more serious about this stuff.

Is hard to say, really. But I would give the benefit of the doubt.

Please let them bleed City for £45-50m.

Thanks. Interesting that he says that the medical may be done whilst he is with the Brazil squad.

Still can't see City bidding more than £40m for Sterling. I think even they have more sense than that.
