Weren't they favourites to sign Tielemens too? Now that'd be an impressive summer of transfers.
Tielemans signed a new contract. It was assumed that they were close to signing an Anderlecht star (most likely Praet or Mbemba) but nothing really substantiated from it.

I lost a lot of money on that Barca Deportivo game ffs.

De Gea has been edging towards this move for so long he must be breaking all records for the slowest edging ever.

I thought Madrid is expecting to sign him or they're preparing a bid or DDG told his teammates he's off or....
What a tiresome saga this is.

Yesterday morning he was off for 18m. When the night came, Madrid opening bid was 22m.
The journos know nothing and we will have our +30m.

David de Gea edges towards Man Utd exit as Real line up bid next week - by @MOgdenTelegraph

It seems to change on a daily basis whether they've already made a bid, or they're about to make a bid sometime soon we swear, or the deals already done and just waiting to announce, etc.

I don't think any of them know anything other than that De Gea is probably signing for Madrid some point this summer, so if they keep running articles saying it's about to happen, they'll be right at some point. Quite tiring by now.

On the contrary, there clearly is debate, unless you believe I'm the only person who felt he could've handled his exit better? Regardless, take him off the list if you like, it's not even slightly important.

Yeah I remembered Heinze too late.

Ronaldo was included for basically the summer of 2008, highlighted by him agreeing with Blatter's idiotic slavery comments, and then the next season repeatedly saying he was staying (including that time before the 2009 final when he interviewed himself for either Sky or ITV, and asked himself about whether he was going to join Real, and said again he was staying, when he knew he would be joining Real basically as soon as the final whistle was blown in the 2009 final), you can even include the links to us a few years ago when he was renegotiating his Real contract if you think that was planted by his side to put pressure on Real to up his contract offer. With Pogba the link to Juve was publicly rumoured well before the move happened, his performances for the reserves suffered and then afterwards he's made a few comments about Fergie's decision not play him more which some might consider disrespectful, which is basically the conduct point I'm referring to. Vidic I've discussed.

The point was that it is pointless getting upset with how players conduct themselves, which I didn't think was a particularly controversial argument. Hating Falcao (the original question) would in my view be particularly unfair given the conduct of other former players in recent years - Falcao has done nothing at this stage to deserve hating IMHO, but others can obviously disagree.

I guess you should add Schmeichel and Beckham and Keane to your list of controversial exits. Even Jaap Stam could be added to that.

Sounds to me like we're briefing the press on de Gea's imminent departure to be honest.

Yeah I think that too. I am afraid is that the club actions are all about softening the blow. We’re definitely not getting any of their players, and it’s very likely we get peanuts for DDG. They just want to drag it a little longer to make it look like a fight, what is probably a good idea but once it’s official, we need to act fast to get a replacement.

Hearing about it everyday does the opposite of softening the blow, the only ones who are briefing the press are Madrid, in my opinion.

It's boring when everyone knows its done, just dragging it out at this point.

Why do people keep saying it's done? If it was the other way round, most here won't ever believe it's done. He'll most definitely leave but it's NOT done. They have to pay a fee for him and I don't think an actual fee has even been agreed, yet.

It's weird, I don't remember a more quiet transfer window regarding transfer news. Even under SAF it's wasn't this quiet, we were still linked with players almost daily.

Bad news in the papers - it must be true
Good news in the papers - probably bollocks

No news - Ed is working hard behind the scenes and the journos know feck all.

Full muppet mode is well in effect.

Almost feel like De Gea tweets should be banned unless they actually provide some kind of new information rather than just saying that Madrid are preparing to think about possibly declaring their interest in our Spanish Dave.

Although maybe I'm just bitter about losing him to that "mob", in the words of Fergie.

De Gea decided he was leaving many months ago. Asmir Begovic is just as good and very easily attainable so I don't see what the huge fuzz is over De Gea leaving despite him obviously being and outstanding goakeeper

BREAKING NEWS: Glory Glory Denis Irwin thinks DDG tweets without new information should be banned - by @ivaldo

Just waiting for Marca to rehash what I've said, then I'll use them as a source when I post the exact same thng tomorrow. I'm a journalist!

I think the speed at which Memphis' deal was announced and the fact that the manager said how he has already identified targets and how he hoped to finish the deals quickly, made people expect everything to be sorted out like in a week after our season ended..

OK, not a week, but sooner than this.. But we have to realize that, the transfer window just opened yesterday and the window to register transfers from outside UK, does not open till July 1st..

Understandable that some are worried as Woody is still new to this and some fear a repeat of first window after Sir Alex retired or is still scarred by the messups from that window..

I am not worried.. As long as we get our major needs before players come back to training, I am fine with it. Many players are still with their international teams for Euro Qualifiers or Friendlies till at least this Sunday..

We'll be fine as long as we get our RB, CB and No.6 and a new keeper if we decide to go for one, before our players come back.. A striker would also be nice, but not as pressing a need as the others listed above as he would probably at most be second choice behind Rooney to start with.. And if a Marquee signing becomes available towards the end, we can focus on that as it happens..

I am also glad the media seems to have no clue about who we are in for or when we might sign a player.. It doesn't help with some of the transfer connoisseur's anxiety levels, but I wouldn't mind some welcome surprise when we eventually announce the deals, like we did with Evra/Vidic and Chicharito or the summer of 07'..

It also helps us to keep it under wraps as a lot of clubs around us have similar requirements and we dont need our rivals to swoop in last minute to hijack any deals like Robben..

No news is good news because I am positive we will add the required quality in the areas we lack sooner than later in the window.. I trust the manager to get this right..

Think the people claiming De Gea to Madrid has been a done deal for months are talking nonsense. Plenty of reports came out that he was torn and even LVG himself came out and said the exact same thing, that De Gea was finding it a difficult decision. Personally think there's every chance he really thought it over and the dream of moving to Madrid was (or is going to be) eventually too much to turn down.

I'd like to see Falcao get back to his best or close to it. I have a feeling he will. I was hoping it wouldn't be at someone like Chelsea though.

Chelsea signed Torres when he was already spent, hoping to revive him. Sheva was also winding down. They even brought Drogba back!

They've got form with this kind of thing, so I can see it happening. I don't expect him to be much use to them though.
