Transfer Tweets - Manchester United - 2024/25

Good for Gore to get on with his senior carreer at this point. If we get some good clauses in, there is no reason it can’t be a win for all parties involved.

Just under £1m is so low.. I know he's been injured and there will probably be some kind of future clauses in there. But if this was City, Chelsea or Pool selling an academy youth, they would probably get like £10m. At least it feels that way.

It's a fair figure as I'd imagine it'll have a very high sell on clause and a buy back option.

Works out for all parties as Rovers will get a tidy player and Gore will get first team football.

Theyd pay 20m if he was at Chelsea.

No they wouldn't. He is 21 in september - he has hardly played a game over the last 2 seasons due to injuries. And let's be realistic - he will never get anywhere near our first-team as things have turned out.

based on our scouting/recruitment in the last 10 years I would say we should replace all of them

Yeah. Those same scouts that get ignored time and time again. Those scouts?

It’s well known our scouts have been ignored for in favor of the managers choices, we do in fact have great scouts but they’ve been ignored.

So yeah, plenty of   ‘s all round.

A list devised by ex-head scout Jim Lawlor, with assistance from global head of scouting, Marcel Bout, reportedly featured Rodri, Erling Haaland, Jack Grealish, Declan Rice, Jude Bellingham, Kai Havertz and Joao Cancelo. Rodri, Haaland, Grealish and Cancelo all went on to enjoy immeasurable success under Pep Guardiola.

Brown was a key figure in the launch of Project Bethlehem, the codename for United’s huge recruitment rebuild, and also TrackerMan, the club’s bespoke centralised database of hundreds of players using scouting reports and data.

Manchester United ignored data recommendations before making three expensive decisions, and the trend has carried on under Sir Jim Ratcliffe's watch, according to reports. The Red Devils' shortcomings in the data department across their decade-long decline since 2013 have been no secret, with most Premier League clubs far in the distance in that regard.

According to the Telegraph, the decision to hand Luke Shaw a bumper new four-year contract in April 2023 didn't align with the data that was sparking red flags about his injury record.

Months later, United completed the £72m signing of Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund, opting for the Dane over a swoop for Victor Osimhen and Randal Kolo Muani.

Despite gathering encouraging data on Hojlund, the report states that the club's financial modelling urged them to walk away if the transfer fee eclipsed £50m.

There's also reports of scouts only rating Antony at £25M under Ole that too was ignored under EtH and they went ahead and bought him for £80M

If he was a City player they'd get 200 million !!

Seriously, 1 million is a good fee. He's been unfortunate with injuries these past two campaigns and that has obviously played a part in his progression and there's really no telling whether it'll continue or not.

He's a busy little player who shows a good competitive edge with decent composure but, even if he does get over his fitness issues, I don't think he'll be anymore than that, personally.

Run by muppets. For way too long now.

Sad that this has to be repeated over and over. Of all the people to be blamed for our malaise, I'd put the scouts very far down the list.

I'd say the scouts have been ignored due to the egos that were running the club. Suggesting sensible signings what would fit right in, not the sexy signings that didn't but would massage the powers that be egos.

If it actually is euros and not pounds then I think this is our best signing in years. A forward player who would actually get games at other top 6 clubs in the league - truly incredible stuff.

I'm a bit sceptical about the price quoted there. It's been widely reported that his release clause is £62.5m

Athletic reported 62.5M GBP (and north of 70M EUR). I have no idea what currency release clauses are written in for English clubs but it's unlikely that it's 62.5M EUR.

We'll see if the amount is actually in Euros. Everyone else before Moretto reported the amount in Pounds, so I'm not 100% certain on whether the final amount is in Euros.

For the last time, I'm BEGGING football journalists to learn the concept of exchange rates

Tier 2:

Delap will prioritise a team that'll offer him European football, so he'll wait and see what unfolds for his suitors.

It’s been consistently reported everywhere else as £62.5 million, so I assume it is GBP and just got lost in translation here.
Other sources stated €70m which is £62.5m however a couple of sources have said €62.5m.

We’ve probably agree 4 instalments of £16m which is £64m and £200k per week for 5 years.

Am I missing something? Why is nobody mentioning this?

Cunha has been widely reported, but what surprised me a bit is there apparently being concrete talks with Gykores. I didn’t think we could afford him and it sounds like we’ve made an offer according to Plettenberg.

I doubt he will get £200k - probably a bit lower

No chance he agrees to come to us in the state we're in, if he's not earning top dollar.

That depends what other clubs are in for him - and there doesn't seem to be any. And he apparently is under £100K at Wolves - so £150K would be a fairly decent raise

There is interest in Gyökeres but those reported concrete talks definitely involved his reps saying he would only be open to move if you are in Champions League. How I wish it was the same scenario as Cunha and he wanted to join irrespective of whether we are in the competition.
