Is his contract up for renewal? I highly doubt we are spending anywhere near that on a CB when other areas need more attention.
Lindeloff & Evans both expected to leave, & Martinez injury worries , would not be surprised if we went for a CB too

We barely have one CB good enough for the level we want to reach.
Yoro is very promising and might reach that level in a year or two.
De Ligt is close to the level needed, big, strong and decent on the ball, but gets caught on the wrong foot every now and then.
Martinez left foot is 24 carat gold, his forward passing is really nice to have in the team, but he is, overall, not that special as a defender.
Maguire is showing decent form and seems to adapt well to the new system imo, but we have seen him up close for a handful of seasons and we know he is not really good enough to be starter for us.
Maz is mostly doing well as a wide cb, but he is a fullback first and foremost.
And i feel that these 3 cbs are important in Rubens system. If we are going to improve we need top quality there
I am not surprised we are looking to improve there.
But sure, we need to improve everywhere. Not easy to know where to start.

We'll we've certainly started from the more defensive positions - 6 out of the 9 additions so far in the CB/WB positions. And two more are CDM's. Only Zirkzee has been for the three attacking positions.

We desperately need to address our ongoing lack of goals issue - so I really hope we start there in the summer, having pretty much ignored in the two windows so far. While another attacking WB could also help with that of course, we really need to be bringing in a quality #9, and maybe even another player for the #10 roles rather than relying very heavily on the likes of Amad, Garnacho and Mainoo again.

With a name like transfer Dan and with the thumbnail profile pic I can safely say Dan needs to be Tier 1

I don’t know for some reason all those aggregators picked it up today. Portuguese papers are not reliable anyway.
They tend to follow each other due to FOMO, so if one aggregator with a decent following posts something, the rest tend to tag along for the ride.

Mind you, not every aggregator is like this (e.g. UtdDistrict), but most of them are low in quality.

My hope is that we would be more dangerous if we werent sitting so deep all the time. Our attacking ideas for some time have been, kick it to Rashford, Martial, Garnacho, Amad etc and hope they can slalom through our opponents defence by themselves. They just run into a wall of players far to often. If we were more forward leaning, able to push defenders higher, we could hopefully give our attacker much more favourable situations.

Pique and co who genuinely love Barca gave up tens of millions in owed wages to help the club. Rashford was asked to give up the remaining percentage that Villa wouldn't cover, which is fractional to what the aforementioned players gave up and he still said no. He is entitled to but then don't bleed on about how you love the club. As usual with this fraud, its all just PR and lip service.
Late but I'm 99% sure Pique and the others deferred their wages. They didn't give them up.

That's why I said they should all start the seasons at the same time. From a quick look, Serie A, La Liga and PL started the same weekend this year and will end the same weekend. Bundesliga started a week later, so they are pretty similar enough already. Why should it be so hard to agree? Closing the window before seasons start is logical and causes less disruption.

I don't know about many of the other leagues like Russia, Greece, etc. but I don't understand why seasons couldn't be more aligned. League seasons start roughly the same time already as it is, so why couldn't they adjust to each other or simply close the window prior to the earliest season starting - all that would mean is later starters have more time with their signings in training pre-season. I don't understand how any involved party - clubs, players, fans - would be less happy knowing their squad situation prior to the season starting.
Why do you need the transfer window to close post-summer at all? Most American leagues allow trading (aka transfers) ~9 months a year. You just can't do it the last 2-3 months of the season and post-season. But it's open all offseason and the first ~60% of the regular season.

I don't really see any problems caused by allowing moves at the beginning of the season. It allows teams to see their squad in action before making final decisions.

American sports are all geared towards the playoffs, I enjoy basketball but 90% of the games don't really matter so swapping teams around before the playoffs isn't really that impactful.
