The fact that no one is rushing to sign DDG for free, tells you why we couldn’t shift him on £375k a week. Pogba is also cooked so I’d say we came out of that much better than Juve, you could argue more through luck than judgment though.

You’re bringing up a lot of stuff from Woodward’s time, which isn’t really relevant now.
Probably because most clubs wouldn't have been stupid enough to pay that kind of wage in the first place, especially knowing he was keen to leave at the time. As for Pogba, I doubt his injury bill will have eclipsed what we paid for him.

What suggests Murtough is much better than the other clown?

This is coming from a Chelsea correspondent, United briefed he's earning 200k basic with 50k bonuses.

Don't know if this is legitimate but he was according to a few sources I have read - he was offered 120k a week at Chelsea and a 7 year deal - now that is a truly shocking bad deal for a footballer of his quality. No wonder he turned them down

Well, then. Not sure why you bothered replying.

So much bullshit gets spread on here, some of it needs to be called out.

It's fine if you don't like the signing, but don't feed into the narrative the club are shite at signing anyone by using made up numbers.

I know you're an ardent defender of the club, but there are some things that are beyond the pale. Like paying Mount 500k a week. (I was tekking the piss out of the fella that said we are paying him 300k a week when we aren't).
Fair enough, maybe I should have noticed that, my bad

I backed it up with a source. If you think The Evening Standard is bs, that's up to you, but it's not on me.

Whichever way you slice it, 400k for Mount is a pisstake.
Because going from 80k to 250k basic is totally fine? Oh yeah, you've done me there

Oh and if other clubs wanted to offer him that, that's up to them, but doesn't mean we should, certainly when we have other pressing needs.

You're still going with that 250 number.

It's like signing Neil Webb all over again.

Maybe the best english midfielder in the late 80s, until that injury destroyed him. His stats with Forest were insane for a central midfielder during that period. Without taking set-pieces, he scored 41 league goals in his first 3 seasons for Forest in the league. Think only Lampard later has more goals pr game from open play as a central midfielder than Webb had at Forest

Hannibal was wanted by half the topclubs in Europe, I doubt a goalkeeper in Japan attracts that much interest
Of course, that's why he costed double that at 16, £5m isn't a great deal of cash if we rate him enough. We drop close to a million on youth players all the time and as you say, if it's made up of bonuses, we're not paying a lot at all.

There's no way we're paying 5m for a backup keeper in the J1 league.

Five million is ridiculous considering the J-League transfer record is £4.5m paid by Celtic for Kyogo Furuhashi. There is probably numerous clauses and any up-front fee is a fraction of the £5m figure, assuming the story is true.

Please no Italian clubs for Mctominay, they will be looking for a loan with an option to pay in espresso refills next year
