We heard the same stories in the past before spunking huge amounts on Antony and Casemiro(also Hojlund and Mount to a lesser extent). I think those deals were made using instalments which meant our future budget was stretched. I'm sure we have the money to do it using instalments again so if we indeed go ahead and do the deal it tells me how serious these new guys are.

Every transfer is done in installments unless insisted upon otherwise , it's nothing novel it's actually standard practice in football .

Yeah, no thanks. We need to get far smarter with our transfers, which also makes it absolutely critical we get a brilliant head coach who can build a team who perform greater than the sum of its parts. Instead of throwing away £80m on players to end up with a team that is less than the sum of its parts.
Oh we absolutely can if we want to but I believe we need to be absolutely sure about the quality and as well as the suitability of the player for Our team that's something which is easier said than done .
Whether a transfer is paid out at once or in installments is an important cash flow consideration, but has no impact on FFP (or whatever fancy acronym they're using now), which is accrual-based. So that's another constraint they'll have to deal with.
PL clubs don't need to sell their players to stay afloat anymore, the PL is basically a super league. Except us because of how badly the Glazers have mismanaged us.
Get Greenwood (even if it means a loan with guaranteed purchase) and McT off the books for pure profit plus Sancho (even for remaining book-value plus add-ons) and you're already starting to gain more financial flexibility across the next two Summers: Casemiro to Saudi, even if its 30 rather than 50+, would also help. Don't think Hannibal can be sold for decent money this Summer, so I'd see if KmCk is interested in a year loan to showcase the player and help Ipswich stay up, then sell next season. Pellistri is doing quite well on loan, so a chance we could get closer to 20m rather than the initial 10m fee, for him from somewhere. Antony, I presume, will be more difficult to move, given book-value and his form, unless can come to agreement with the player and Saudi. But there are options.
Completely agree. I think we can find similar quality players to Branthwaite across Europe for half the quoted price.
I know Onana has been...erratic. But is GK really top of the priorities, given the finances? Might help if we gave whoever's in goal less to do, by combination of changes to system and at least 3 significant changes to the first team outfield personnel.
Out of curiosity, how would you fix a team that leaks goals and suffers with too many shots on goal. Realistically, 3 at the back with a double pivot ahead of them would work wonders for us.
I agree, Onana should stay by default (unless we can make a profit on him). He's not been good but we've got other areas to worry about first before fecking about with the keeper.

Yeah, that's an interesting way of looking at it. I hadn't appreciated it from that perspective but INEOS might see it that way and have a public facing former England manager at the top while specialist coaches do lots of work with the players.
I just can't see it working any other way tbh and I can't believe the owners would try and force it to work either.

There is no way Everton will turn down £60 million for Branthwaite (if there is only club interested in the player) in the situation they are in with FFP. I actually they want to sell him to clear their FFP-issues. They just want as much money as possible. I am not an expert on Evertons squad - but I think he is the only real sellable asset they have which is pure profit. So if they want to solve their FFP-issues - it's the only real option they have.
Al Nassr is supposedly set to offer £34m and give him a three-year deal.

Obviously we'll take it, but I hope we counter that first offer with a £50m valuation and then settle somewhere in the middle.

Edit : I can see I confused a lot of people with my post. I meant the highest fee we would receive after the Lukaku sale and not our record sale ever.

I meant after Lukaku. We are generally shit at selling. Think the highest fee we received in the last 4 or 5 years is Dan James for 25m.
