I don’t necessarily think it’s about dislodging. It’s competition. City have stones akanji Dias Laporte ake. I know Ake and stones occasionally play in different roles but we really have to have top tier players coming in when we have injuries/suspension/rotate. It’ll be so much better calling on Kim than Maguire.
Or pulling Shaw from his stronger position.

Its very obvious we can't buy 3 mids, St, and a cb all in the one summer. Even if Maguire, Fred, Scott, VDB, Telles and Baily get sold.

Source (Tier 2):

NEWS FROM L'ÉQUIPE. Although Monaco and Manchester United have yet to agree on the terms of the transfer, Axel Disasi has chosen Manchester United to continue his career.

Whilst I'm glad to see him moved on, I can't shake that Liverpool, City or Chelsea would be selling him for 35/40 million somehow.

They wouldn't. Jordan Ibe got held up for years for his 15m move to Bournemouth. Well 20m Euros is around that figure. Similar money was paid for Solanke.

Why do you think that? It's very much on the cards.

When Maguire is sold, United will need a replacement in Kim or Dasasi.

CF/Striker should at least be Hojlund, maybe Kane, maybe even Thuram on a free.

Midfielders: Mount, Rabiot, and either a youth player gets drafted in. And if VdB is sold, United would need another reinforcement.

We haven't even replaced the players that left ages ago.

Tier 1:

Manchester United is thinking about Rasmus Højlund.

At the moment there has been no direct contact between the parties, but he is one of the profiles that the English club likes and in Bergamo they already know it.

It is possible that the Reds Devils will make a move in the coming weeks.

Translation:

I swear Telles was never as bad as people made out although I stopped watching a lot of the later games last season.
I was thinking the same, but like you, I also stopped watching in the last few months of the season.

We got him for relatively cheap and the competition he provided lit a fire under Shaw, so at the end of the day, not the worst signing in the world.

Well we gave him such a massive increase in wages when he joined that we are going to find it nigh on impossible to sell him without subsidising them.

He was so patently not up to our level I would say he was a shocking signing. No pace and no quality. He might have been OK as a squad player at Burnley but that's about it

We seem to be very good at planning and worse at executing our plans.

It might just be me being persnickety, but I have a problem with Laurie's article

The first paragraph states that although United are usually slow at making signings, this summer it seems they could act quickly and make their first signing early.

Fair enough. But then the rest of the piece is him going through everyone we've been linked to and saying that we either aren't keen or haven't even started discussions yet. Says Mount is farthest along, but even that could be pushed back until they identify and then sign a striker. Then says we may not have enough money and probably won't sign anyone until we know what our budget is...

Very contradictory

It's obvious every summer that none of them have a clue until deals are pretty much done.

We'll end up signing players we haven't even been linked with yet and be stuck with players many think we'll be able to sell. Like usual.

Yeah he's tied himself in knots a bit.

It's obvious that we will be slow in the market this summer due the ongoing sale process and the simple fact that the leeches will not be quick enough to sign-off on any deal, as they have no incentive to help the incoming new owner whoever that might be.

And because we are always that way.
