But why would united do this? Nothing to gain from it but bad press. We all know Phil will not play a game anymore, the club knows and the player knows. His body is broken and my guess would be the last contract was just some sort of retirement package.

A nice £15.5m retirement package

Seems legit, another winger/wide forward when we have Rashford/Sancho/Garnacho/Antony/Diallo/Pellestri

He is not a wide forward neither he is winger. He can play on both wings in a role of a wide playmaker but he is most effective at operating in a half spaces, especially in the left half-space.

So he would be IMO more competition for Eriksen and Bruno than for Rashford, Garnacho etc. He is one of the highly intelligent and technically sound players who started a career on the wing but develop into a #8/#10 hybrid such as we saw with Pep and some City players.

Sounds interesting option for summer

So somewhere between first XI signings and squad depth then by sounds of it

Exactly, would be a great option to have in the squad because he can play anywhere across the midfield line apart from #6, and even in positions that are not so natural to him he would adapt and give you at least a 7/10 performance. We wouldn't suffer such a drop in quality as it was with VDB for example, he is a reliable player.

As for starting eleven, it would be foolish to think he would replace Eriksen or Bruno straight away, but he would be serious competition for them and would start a decent amount of games (this season). In the future, he has all the potential and mentality to be a starter for a top European side in a few years.

It was a great piece of bussiness for RB Leipzig to get both him and Gvardiol from Dinamo so smoothly. Always thought about him as a natural heir to Silva and KDB and a player Pep would turn into a beast. With ETH here, who share some similar approach to systems and tactics as Pep, I'm sure he would be a highly rated player by our boss.

EDIT: Also highly rated by Luis Enrique, a manager that many on here were suggesting to go for after OGS and who favors keepers like Raya and Sanchez over DDG stylistically.

Sold! Sign him up

Dani Olmo has been on Barca's radar for a long time. Pep or Xavi will get him in summer quite likely.

Sadly, but true, his contract with RB Leipzig is running in the summer of 2024., so if he doesn't sign a new one in the coming months he will be on the move.

Does anyone think United might do something late on?

Let's not be silly. Even if they do it'll be someone mediocre or worse than what we already have that comes in. Basically, ten Hag is polishing a turd until the takeover completed.

Clearly ETH is pushing for it because he knows how close this squad is to hitting the wall over the next 2 months, but with no money to spend I just can't see anything happening.

Spends over 200M in the Summer and we’re still a “turd” - the entitlement is real.

I didn't mean it literally. This team is overachieving for what it is. There's so many players that still aren't good enough and the squad is paper thin.

Having said that, 200m in this day and age doesn't get you a lot. We aren't in 2008 anymore.

I love a good deadline day/week scrap but nothing is happening for us unfortunately. We are skint that much is known, and almost no one decent is gettable in a January loan, especially to a big club. Could see us let one of the younger lads leave however.

So Falk is linking Olmo to Manchester United because he was linked to us in the past, and the only reason he's bringing this back up is because a new contract would establish a release clause. There seems to be no mention of United still tracking or monitoring his situation, so I wouldn't take this seriously.

From the article, here's what Falk said:
No chance of a January transfer for Dani Olmo. We heard that talks with Olmo for a new contract are far along, so it seems he will extend his stay with RB Leipzig.

The good news for interested clubs like Manchester United is that Olmo has a clear wish to move to the Spanish top-flight, so he’s going to get two different release clauses in his contract – they haven’t been signed yet but we think they’ll be added. One that allows clubs to sign him for €70-75m but another where, if Barcelona or Real Madrid are knocking on his door, he can leave for €60m.

I think, if United are still interested, they’ve got a chance there.

Yeah, this has little to no substance.

Think Olmo suits a possession based team. Could be more useful in a ETH system than Fernandes.

Is that correct? Reports seem up in the air about that at the moment. Potential move to PSG but nothing confirmed yet
Both Di Marzio and Romano have confirmed this a few hours back.

Inter are trying to sign him this month, but if that fails, he'll still join PSG in the summer.
