We will lose £22 million in reduced Adidas sponsorship alone, not to mention millions in UCL payments, if we miss top 4 and Champions League, so if Felix makes the difference between top 4 and not top 4, that £16 million will be a bargain.

Need to see the context. It's not as simple as "OMG 16 million for a loan!". But unfortunately our owners also don't get it, so I reckon there is 0.05% chance for us signing Felix.
Not the owners problem. The club will be sold in a couple months.

Seems like it. Even though, Liverpool will also be sold (likely: sooner than us) and yet they just got Gakpo for Klopp, under our noses. That must be because FSG are not stinking pile of shit of owners like Glazers are, and they are not trashing their club before selling it.

Think it's because Liverpool didn't spend like we did in the summer.

Jesus give it a rest, your like a broken record. That Felix deal is terrible, even if we weren't about to be sold I'd still think the club would be bonkers to pay that kind of loan fee for a player for six months, it's an absolute rip off. And United aren't the only club that thinks it either clearly.

Not my fault that they overspent around 50 mil on Antony and Martinez in the summer. Also, if Felix deal is terrible, they should find a better one, but not replacing Ronaldo and relying on just Martial, who is injured or out of form 3/4 of the time is unacceptable. What I care about is us making top 4. The only "rip off" for me is not supporting Erik ten Hag.

Maybe they are trying to find a better one, none of us know, try to have some patience and chill your muppet head a bit.

My calendar says its January 3rd, the windows just opened? This level anger makes me think your calendar says something different.

We overspent on Martinez too?
Is there a player we havent overspent on?

Patience my friend, patience.

Also why do you think Liverpool will be sold sooner, based on what info?

If we dont buy the next flavour of the month the owners dont support eth enough, if we buy someone, we overspend. For many on here the owners cant do anything right. we had a top summer transfer window - one of the best in recent history. ronnie is gone for good. now just hope we get the right one in - but if there is noone out there that suits us let it be

The market seems fairly crazy and our budget is probably non-existent having been stretched in the summer. Hoping we can maybe move a few fringe players out, even on loan, to save a bit. The likes of Van de Beek, Elanga, Williams, Pellistri, Tuanzebe etc. Then maybe we can get a striker in, though really tough to find someone worth the money.

Squad of De Gea/Heaton, Dalot/AWB, Shaw/Malacia, Varane/Martinez/Maguire/Lindelof, Casemiro/McTominay/Fred, Fernandes/Eriksen, Antony/Rashford/Sancho/Garnacho, Martial/new seems adequate. We might get top four with that. Tough to see anything more exciting happening.

Thuram looks bang average,we should be aiming higher.

We have games every 3 days and very thin bench. We knew Cristiano was leaving two months ago. We should have had somebody lined up, as his replacement, to start by the beginning of the window, not the end! Or you think teams start negotiation only after the window opens? You are wrong. Gakpo was announced even before the window opened - that is what well-run teams do.

We did overspend based on market value. His price was 30 millions but we waited until very late and then Ajax fecked us by hiking price to 50. We overspent by 20 million euros compared to what a competent club would have spent. 20 million we could have used now for Gakpo, or Felix, or whoever Ten Hag wants and needs.

I know Licha is awesome and we have no regrets, but that doesn't mean we couldn't have gotten him for much cheaper. Club's recruitement is incompetent and hopefully will be fired when new owners come in.

To answer your question: no we didn't overspend on everybody. Eriksen for free was an amazing deal. We got Malacia for good price because we signed him early, and we got Casemiro for shockingly good price, esp considering that we went last minute for him. Not sure how we got so lucky with Casemiro

We signed Lisandro on 27th of July. How exactly is that very late?

Also transfers dont go like that. Where did you see an info about his price being 30 million and even if true price is set by a selling club and the buyer and selling club negotiate over it. Its not just - hey his price 30 million, take our 30 million and give us the players. It's not a fruit market.

We didn’t go for Casemiro last minute.

We were negotiating for him as soon as we became aware he was available which I believe was around the time of the Super Cup final.

Him being a late panic buy is a complete myth.

As far as I remember the asking price for Martinez was around 50m right from the beginning, according to reports. We just spent a month or so trying to negotiate the price down and after failing as always, agreed to pay what they asked.

Oh? What's the source of that? It makes more sense, but all I have to go with is what was covered by media + pundits, and based on that all summer was spent talking about De Jong. To be fair even Murtough was talking about De Jong, and we were not going to sign both De Jong and Casemiro, so - where are you getting the alternative version from? For general public, it looked like we definitely panic-bought him after season started and we got destroyed in our first two games.

How is end of July not very late? Most of our competitors announced their transfers early June. For CB signing, we spent all summer negotiating Timber transfer and only when that fell through moved over to Licha.

Like I said, we spent all summer negotiating Timber transfer. Licha wasn't our #1 choice, and only when that fell through we moved over to Licha, by which time Ajax had all their guns out for us and milking us like there is no tomorrow.

Casemiro himself.

He also explained quite publicly that the deal was already done before the Brentford game as he famously rang United (poss Ten Hag) to reassure him that the result hadn’t put him off. It has simply made him more determined to help turn things around.

It was very much Casemiro + De Jong.

There was no panic (possibly the Antony fee but certainly not Casemiro)

Facts don’t matter when there’s a narrative to mindlessly repeat!

Yeah it's the extra we paid on Antony fee that ended up costing us getting Gakpo or affording Felix loan fee as well

Oh. Didn't know that. That's great to know. Thanks.

I can't believe how lucky we got with Casemiro wanting to join us. He is top, top, top player we so needed. Love the guy.

I believe the story goes that Casemiro called Murtough after the Brentford loss.

Yeah the minute he said I don't care you just got beat 4-0 at Brentford,I want to come in and turn your fortunes around

feck off with the Depay links  I don't know why Athletic are trying to wish it into existence like they did Gakpo

Take it you never really believed in any of the Gakpo stuff then by that statement

Kolo Muani on permanent deal with small upfront payment and the rest in installments.

I actually did and another poster urged me to read the articles from Athletic in depth and I realized on second reading that it was just conjecture.

Rummaging around for pound land signings and end of season freebies whilst our rivals are making some very good signings.. one last f you from those Glazer cnuts.

Thuram and Sommer certainly wouldn’t be the worst bit of business we could do in January with the financial restraints we currently seem to be under.

Agreed. Would be content with that all things considered.

I would be intrigued by Thuram/Morata as they have both scored nearly double figures this season and have a presence in box, however Depay doesn't and not scored many so cannot understand that one.
