It's more like Ajax has been dragging this out and don't want to sell because they left it too late for themselves to find an adequate, yet value-based, alternative.

Raphina didn't want to stay in England once Barca's interest was sound. Everton are doing who knows what, but Richarlison wasn't going to come to United and Spurs stumped up the cash for him to be a non-guaranteed starter.

For 90 million in Antony, United are solidifying a first choice right winger/forward and have protected themselves in the future if Rashford decides to leave or if/when Rashford or Sancho is injured.

I'd argue this is United's fault through and through considering the interview Antony had just given.

Antony issued his request to leave as early as Feb. The price was set and noted back around then itself or at least we'll before the window opened.

Come beginning of this transfer window, United low balled. Got rejected and told a price. They then stopped negotiations.

Two horrible losses into the season we reopened negotiations at values closer to the original set price.

We are sooo late in the window because of our own doing. Who does Ajax get now? They presumably planned to start the season w Antony because United didn't come back to them for months.

Our club is run by mongrels.

Yeah low-balling is such an arrogant tactic

Tier 1:

As part of the loan, Napoli want United to cover a good part of Ronaldo's wages.

So we pay 100m euros and loan them Ronaldo for no fee, and still pay most of his wages..

Feckin hell who thought that would be a good idea

If Mendes somehow managed to convince Utd to do that, then without doubt, he must know some incriminating things about our board members

It’s a nice deal: we get top striker and rid of want-away Ronaldo. If it doesn’t limit our chances to get Antony, it’s worth trying. Maybe also add some players to decrease fee

Hi Ed, is that you?

Thank god you’re not in charge of our transfer dealings any more.

Why in God's name would Napoli even entertain this nonsense? Swap a young, up and coming star striker for an old, over the hill, selfish, egomaniac.

Sounds like the same tactic we used with Sancho when we failed to sign him the summer before we did. Maybe we're planning to sign him next summer too.

Seriously speaking, if I were in charge, we wouldn’t be leaving it late to buy players and wouldn’t be sticking to the only target for 3 months. Besides, mediocrity such as Phil Jones et al would have been thrown out the door immediately.

This is so awkward much as we badly need a left footed RW still say that technical CM is more important to Erik's system, trouble is top target has spurned his advances all summer.

We are caught in a difficult place now if Antony doesn’t happen because we definitely are not good enough in attack right now but you also don’t want to spend too much on mediocre players.

What in the actual expletive...just saw PSG signed Renato Sanchez for €15M!?

I presume we were never even dreaming about signing him.

None of those guys came from the fecking Dutch league.
Suarez came from Ajax...

Hazard came from French league. A less competitive version in comparison to Ligue 1 of today.

We almost bought Lucas Moura from Brazillian league in same price range, until some agent fee meant Lucas snapped up by PSG (bullet dodged for this deal)

Agreed on those points.

Exactly. Man Utd were so fixated on FDJ that they did not consider other targets.

I'd be happy with the Osimhen deal.

We'd be getting rid of a player who doesn't fit in and doesn't want to be here and getting one of the highest-rated young strikers in the world.

I don't care what the fee is. That's the Glazers' problem.

They spent 70-80m on him so not a huge profit.

They paid around €70m for Osimhen. So around a 50% profit. Plus having Ronaldo for a year would probably do their commercial side wonders.

It’s worth remembering they did that deal before the pandemic and considering it’s a huge outlay for Napoli they could maybe do with getting a return and building out the squad.

Is he good now? I remember him being a bit of a joke in the PL but seems he has improved since.

Is Osimhen any good?

he has the potential to be really good - he is big and strong and with a decent eye for goal. He is still only 23 so he could develop into something special. But I would rather spend £90 million on Antony than Osimhen, I just dont think his potential is quite as high. Antonys potential is huge

As it turns out we WERE in for him in June - from Antony himself! He said he wants to leave and they didn't let him go. We raised our offer and they're still not letting him go. He's pushing hard to leave the club - it's my belief Ajax will let him, they are simply hardballing for the absolute maximum money they can, and the only way they could do that is by pushing the deal back to deadline day in the hope that we plus Antony will be desperate at that point.

Think i would rather take Memphis and Antony over Osimhen and Asensio. We should go for Osimhen next summer (hopefully with CL quali in the bag).

Osimhen's price isn't going down anytime soon while Antony's will.

It would make more sense to get Osimhen now and Antony later.

I would prefer our priority to use the funds we have for Antony to go on a great midfielder partner for casemiro and then try a loan deal with Chelsea for ziyech or Pulisic along with depay on the cheap, our attack would not be exciting but a defence of martinez and varane with a midfield of casemiro and another world class midfielder in front of them and we would shut a lot of teams out whilst having enough just creativity and firepower to comfortably see out most games

I’d go for Tielemans as Eriksen is going to be need to rotate. Only a year left on his contract too so if we can get him for £25m it would be a bargain.
