A lot of their content comes across as arrogant as feck too. I stopped following them because of that. It seems from outside looking in, they seem to throw stuff at a wall and hope it sticks.

I meant why are they morons for counting Ndicka as one of the players we've been linked to when as far as I'm aware we were linked to him. I don't doubt Muppetiers are idiots but you don't have to be clever or informed to keep track of the players we've been linked with in the media.

Why's that?

It's fake news. BILD never linked Manchester United to N'Dicka. This was incorrectly/falsely translated by Keven Bader. Other aggregators & even the MEN latched onto this without checking the actual BILD report.
There's something weird about the Tweet that UtdPlug is referring to:

Note: Keven Bader is a Norweigan Swedish podcaster based on his Twitter profile's description.

Sport Witness just published an article referring to this exact report. However, there's no mention of Manchester United anywhere in SportBild's report. The only other clubs mentioned in the passage below are Monaco and Marseille.

Even Sport Witness's article makes no mention of Manchester United anywhere. Get Football News Germany's article also doesn't mention Manchester United. Is there an online Bild article from today that mentions Manchester United, or are people getting misled by Keven Bader? As of now, I'd treat this as fake news. Unfortunately, many United aggregators and even an MEN writer have been publishing Tweets linking us to N'Dicka.

@Damien FYI

EDIT: Corrections

Right. But MEN and The Sun still then reported it. So if anything the fact that they reported a fake story underlines the point the Muppitiers were making.

Yeah, that's a fair point. This is why the Caf has the current rules in place for the Transfer Tweet threads. It's so easy to spread fake news around, and whilst it offers a good laugh, it also creates unnecessary outrage and illegitimises the more reliable reports from other journalists/outlets.

We covered this yesterday, but no, they are terrible. Two more reliable accounts have already denied this from the start.
I don’t follow this page religiously :) I know you have your finger on the pulse

In the back of my mind, I thought they weren’t reliable. I know this page is for links to our transfer options/maybes but BBC (urgh) football gossip page multiplied by a story by La Repubblica is always going to be sketchy (at best)

That's why those BBC Tweets are banned. If you see more of them, feel free to submit a report.

As someone who’s been here over 20 years on this forum, believe me the current level of negativity has never been lower. Whilst i agree with you, we also have a responsibility to ensure that everyone can have conversations without negativity leaking into every single thread. Over and over again and the season hasn’t even started

Right on, thanks mate.

Ah the late Ian McGarry and Duncan Castles approach. You have then go on to claim 'You heard it here first'.

Well - once we sign a couple of quality players, everyone will be ready for it - at least until we lose our first game.

good to see we want to avoid battling it out with the mighty Lyon for a player

With all the relatively known strikers already moved. I am interested to see who we get. I love out of the blue singings like Chicharito, Evra, Vidic, etc.

A RB is a must. We just can't start the season with AWB or Dalot as the starter.

I think that as well but since Timber looks to be staying our focus may well have switched to the other side now

A defender isn't our #1 priority at this time, so I'm not surprised by this.

Considering AWB is more or less frozen out and Dalot is our first choice - it should be our second priority after a central midfielder

AWB was frozen out under a different manager. We don't know if that will be the same with ten Hag.

Yet he picks players like Bergwijn who barely gets a game for Spurs.
Their options are way stronger at the back than they are in attacking areas in fairness, more competition for those spots.

Unpopular opinion I guess but from the players perspective.... Lvg is right and doing what is best. Utd have been awful at integrating new players in recent times - Fred, Dalot,Telles, DVB, Amad, Sancho, Mata, Schneiderlin, Scweinstiger, Depay....

LVG acknowledges a) the step up to the premiere league is something few players take in their stride and the majority need half a season at least to establish themselves...and b) Utd have 3 senior CBs who all have serious experience. If the going gets tough, such is the pressure ETH will be under its easy to see the gaffer playing it safe with two of those 3.

For Timber to play in the World Cup...it’s is definitely a bad decision to join Utd whether we like to admit it or not.

If we play like LVG snooze-ball under Ten Hag then I'm switching to a new sport. 5 days of Test cricket felt shorter than many of the 85% possession yet lose 0-1 without having a shot on target, LVG United matches

Explain Nathan Ake then
Ake's a lot older and more established in the Dutch squad, Timber only made his debut last year and presumably is still trying to prove himself while we know how much Van Gaal loves left-sided centre backs who can play full back (hence him trying to buy Thomas Vermaelen and ending up with Rojo). Plus Ake not getting into probably the best side in the world is not the same as if Timber was to initially struggle to settle into a Europa League team.

Maybe don't believe every single thing you read. 90% of footy rumours are unfounded or just guess work. We've been linked with load of Dutch or Dutch based players. Journalists really haven't got the amount of info that fans think they do.

Is there any reason to believe this will be case, apart from the fact that they're both Dutch?

Maybe but I’ve never really got this ‘if he doesn’t play I won’t pick him’ argument, managers know the ability of these players. If Timber isn’t good enough to break into one of the worst United sides in decades then maybe he shouldn’t be in the Dutch squad anyway and United shouldn’t be signing him.

The first year could be exactly that, Peps City struggled in the first year think they finished 4th.

Sure but players can take time to settle, it wouldn't be a shock if a young defender didn't find his feet within the first couple of months. If he's struggling even by the start of October, that doesn't give him much time to turn it around before the World Cup which is a unique issue for this summer. It's different for someone like De Jong who is already well established and a manager is more likely to overlook a brief struggle than they would for a youngster who is trying to prove themselves. They've got Van Dijk, De Ligt, De Vrij and Ake, he's not as essential to them as Bergwijn (the example given) is as their attacking options are a bit shit so he has to be performing to keep his place.

I do understand that fair point but even then Ake is getting games and he plays 10 games a season at City.

Timber has 9 caps to his name so it’s not like he plays every game anyway it’s crazy to me not moving to a bigger club and league because he’s scared of not making the national team, we should stay clear if that’s his mentality.

What Timber is doing says a lot about his character. If he doesn't feel confident enough that he will play regularly for us - it's quite obvious he doesn't have the mentality to play here. If you are gonna challenge for the title, and play at Old Trafford - you have to be convinced you are the best, and that you will of course play regularly. That's the mentality you need.
