John Marquis signs for Rovers from Lincoln City

obviously I’m a Brighton fan, but have just bought season tickets for Rovers as I live in Bristol and my daughter is a big fan. Should be an interesting season.

but nothing can top last seasons final game (a 7-0 win to clinch automatic promotion for those that don’t follow league 2!)

How’s Coutts getting on there? One of my favourite ever players.

He's doing really well, he really came into his own in the second half of the season when the team really hit form. He gets sent off occasionally, twice I can remember last season, but he was made captain straight after he joined last summer and overall has been a great addition. He's been extended for another year so let's see how he does in league 1!

Was fantastic for us in league 1. So good to see him succeed after his horrific injury.

Did he play for you the season you were promoted to the prem? or was he gone by then?

It was a fantastic season in league 2 last year, i was pleased to see Forest Green win the league (UK's most sustainable club!) and it was nice to see Rovers promoted also.

Do you follow Bristol City also? They were not far away from promotion to the Premier League a few seasons ago, but have dropped off a bit since.

I keep an eye on City's results and have been to watch them a few times, but obviously as a regular at the Mem, I understand that they are all cnuts!

But last season for Rovers was one of the most exciting seasons I have followed for a while. My youngest daughter is 10 and we started going in December after she asked to go and see a football match, her first game was a 4-2 win over Mansfield and she loved it. We went to pretty much every home game after that and she is yet to see them lose!

She does not understand the lifetime of pain she has let herself in for!

He did though not much as Wilder had replaced him by that point. His celebrations were fantastic at the promotion party.

Broja's potential transfer out of Chelsea will take a while to complete given that Tuchel wants to evaluate him during pre-season.

£30M is expensive for a player like Broja, but he is only 20/21 years old and has the potential to be a great/good striker in the PL, and go for an even bigger fee to a bigger club.

You know what we didn't have in a while? An update from Jorginho's agent:

Santos on the overall transfer market:
We are still at the beginning. It will be a very cautious market. Targeted.

On Jorginho:
Chelsea are the priority. The contract will expire in 2023, I think we will talk about the renewal from September.

Ajax and Spurs test Bergwijn's patience
  • No formal agreement on the deal between the clubs
    • Just a verbal agreement from Paratici to Ajax
  • Daniel Levy has a different view on the deal to Paratici, which is complicating matters.
    • Levy wants the terms & bonuses clarified before fully agreeing on the deal.

RB Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund on Leeds & Camara:
Mo still has a three-year contract with us, so it’s also possible that he’ll continue to play in Salzburg. I can’t predict if Leeds are also willing to buy him out of his contract, but in football, a lot can happen very quickly.

Leeds have yet to submit an offer to Salzburg.

Yeah, no! He either extends or is sold this summer. We can't have it drag on and on throughout next season where he and other clubs know he's a free agent at the end of the season.

Agreement in principle between Barça and Tottenham for the loan of Lenglet. The Catalan club will pay part of the salary (15%). Some details remain to be worked out.
  • The purchase option fee has yet to be finalised, but it can be around €10m.
  • Umtiti's in negotiations with Rennes.
  • Mingueza's in talks with AC Monza.

Danjuma's agent Michael-Moses Jarman said the following:
  • Danjuma will not be likely to go to West Ham.
    • Danjuma could not agree on the personal terms.
  • Danjuma's "completely calm" about the situation and won't kick up a fuss if he doesn't move to West Ham.
    • He's currently focused on the upcoming La Liga campaign + the World Cup.

RB Leipzig manager Domenico Tedesco on Tyler Adams:
He said goodbye to the team on Monday. The topic is finished. He was very liked here; he is a really good player and fine character, the farewell hurts. If a player is unhappy with his playing time, we have an extremely large number of players in the centre, then you have to understand him and fulfil his wish.

Starting to annoy me that Forest are chasing every young full back except Brandon Williams. Realistically only about 4 or 5 PL clubs we could reasonably sell him to for a respectable fee. Forest and Fulham both seem to be chasing Neco Williams (don’t blame them, I think he’s better), Southampton have looked elsewhere too and Brentford just signed a new full-back too.

Excellent back-post finish from pretend journo Romano.

The Japanese portion of the Tweet is key to the full point and translates accordingly (thanks to DeepL):
Things I didn't even tell my wife, she knew.

Basically, Yoshida didn't tell his wife about the Trabzonspor offer, but she found out anyways because of Romano.

We need Frenkie to keep his wife in the dark on his transfer moves too.
