We will have to sell quite a few players to get in the amount of players needed unless we are planning on some FREE transfers.

Yes, definitely. Like almost every pervious summer I am hoping, we are more ruthless than we have been and show plents of players the door. One of the DMs would be Kamara or Doucouré for me. Doucouré wouldn't cost that much and Kamara is obviously available on a free. It should be doable.

Source: Marca (José Félix Díaz); summarised English article
  • Monaco are okay with selling Tchouameni this summer.
    • €70M is considered the starting point for the negotiations.
  • The player prefers a move to a more competitive league than Ligue 1.
    • PSG ruled out.
    • Liverpool & Chelsea have already inquired the player & his camp about the player's future and are looking for a quick response.
  • Real Madrid are also interested but didn't submit an offer.
    • They want to wait one year before working to bring Tchouameni in.
    • They are happy enough with their current midfield.
      • They are prioritising strengthening other areas (centre back, left back, Kylian Mbappé).
    • Tchouameni, however, doesn't want to wait; he prefers to leave this summer.
  • Barcelona also made an approach but baulked at the price.

I don't see how we can win the race to sign a player in such high demand. I mean I'm glad that we're at least trying to see what could happen, but with Real Madrid and Liverpool also in the race, it's damn near impossible. Now, If Real Madrid insist on waiting a year, which makes no sense, and it's just Chelsea v Liverpool for his signing, it could get interesting.

I think the promise or better chance of first team football is something that could sway it for a player. No idea on his personality but if it's squad option at Liverpool or Madrid with the intention to be first choice in 2-3 years he may prefer to join Chelsea if Tuchel says he's his no.1 player and plans to start him regularly right from the off.

Then he’s scheduled to go on a short holiday before starting work at United. So don’t get your hopes up just yet
I'm sure he'll also want to evaluate the crop we have here before deciding what to firmly prioritise on.

Of course but I fully expect him to take some time away from football before doing anything Man Utd related

I think he walks straight into Liverpool's team. He might need an adjustment period, kinda like Fabinho did, but eventually he'll be an automatic starter, so I don't think Klopp would allow concerns like that to scupper the deal, if he actually wants Liverpool.

Sky report that Sabitzer's agent was at Bayern's ground to discuss Sabitzer.

But he's actually a pretty big agent, so I wonder if it could also be possible that Bayern wanted to talk about other clients: Kehrer to upgrade on Süle or Draxler to replace Gnabry.

Kehrer is shocking.

Would consider an upgrade.

Honestly I'm going to ignore the transfer stories around Man Utd this summer. Every journalist has a different story regarding our transfer budget, nobody has a clue.

Would be hilarious if he left Liverpool.
It’d be incredibly annoying. He’s 30 years old and has played near on every game of high intensity football for 5 years. I don’t think he has more than one top level season left in him. The best thing for us would be Liverpool signing him down to a 4 year deal. Instead they’re going to get a fee for him and sign another top attacker for peanuts.

Wouldn't be surprised if they're open to selling him for big money, it would be smart business. He isn't going to improve as a player now and they have an upgrade in Diaz now already, plus might free up cash to secure Salah on a new contract.

Feel either one of Mane or Salah will be moving on this summer.
Prediction, I still think it'll be Salah.

Bet you won’t!!

You are cruel.

They already have his replacement in Diaz

Yeah they better 'consider' upgrading full backs
RB and LB would be the first 2 players I signed. Trying to flog Dalot and Telles in the process.

I'm convinced thaat when Ten Hag has worked with the players a bit, he will suspend all his plans and immediately demand we uprade those positions. He knows how important full backs are to the modern game

If the board set the budget at £20m and this is reflected in the transfer activity then the owners and board won't survive next season.

What makes you say that? The Glazers can spend 0 and still be in charge next year if they wish.

It won't be £20M. £20M gets you nothing this season. ETH wouldn't have joined if that was the case.

Plus in what world are you living in if you think that the owners/board won't survive next season if they do. They own the club. They can do whatever they like with it! It's their business at the end of the day.

This is aside from the fact that yes, we all know that the club belongs to the fans and the fans only, but from purely a business standpoint. The Glazers own Man Utd and can do whatever they see fit.

Glazers are literally going nowhere. Unless someone slaps down the cash on the table. Which is highly unlikely, then they're not going anywhere.

We spent €150m net in 2014 after missing out on CL.

Seems possible that, in addition to Pogba, Lingard, Matic, Mata, Cavani and Grant leaving (as well as Mason probably being a lost cause), the likes of Bailly, Martial and Henderson could very easily be sold, and one or two of Jones/AWB/Telles/Dalot could also leave. Most of them probably won't fetch a lot in transfer fees considering their wages, but it should be possible to get £40-50m+ in total, and that will obviously also save a lot in wages. And that's on top of the incoming massive wage reduction in the squad as a result of them missing out on the CL (up to 25% for many apparently), which will largely offset the loss in CL revenue.

This should give Ten Hag and Murtough a lot of wiggle room for making changes to the squad. I think we're gonna spend a lot.

I’m sure more walkouts and half arsed protests will force them out..
The only way they are leaving is it someone offers them enough cold hard cash

fecking hell I'd love to work for the MEN. Getting paid to write all this shite

Both of these players should have been signed by United, even more so when they were available for a paltry sum of 25 million, further when we actually need players critically in both these positions. and to add insult to injury, their manager is joining United.
Just goes to show how lethargic our recruitment is.
