The key info:

The remainder:
  • Laporta has already held multiple meetings with Raiola over Haaland.
  • Laporta will explore other star striker options in case Barcelona can't get Haaland.

Don't blame them for going for him but they've signed a number of attackers that some could argue play at their best centrally. Ignoring Aguero they've signed Ferran, Auba, Depay and De Jong. All of them apart from De Jong can occupy wide positions, so it's not completely crazy, but I've found their transfer strategy a bit odd.

Yes, his football is basic, it doesn't feature the transitions, patterns of play, interplay and guile of managers like Ten Hag and Nagelsmann who are in the mold of Pep, instead there's lots of pressing in Pochettino's football but just geared to forcing the counter attack turnover, it's simple shit, not dominating and slick to watch, plus like I said he's also a personality free puppet, this team needs real change and some of these brainless players we have need weeding out by a progressive coach who demands players that can play how he wants, not ones that require a mollycoddling, dumbed down approach so they can cope.

His football (when implemented, not like at PSG so far) has generally been very entertaining and is closer to that of Klopps in philosophy than the managers you mentioned. But would you call Klopps football basic? Just because it's not slow and methodical? To be honest I remember Spurs looking very good under him and I think you're doing him a massive disservice. Probably because your agenda is ETH or nothing, like others on here. But yeah, the more I think about it the more I disagree with what you're saying. His Spurs team was more than just pressing. It was far more methodical than that of Bielsa, for example, and the fluidity in their attack was entertaining, something we miss badly here.

To be honest I prefer the style of Klopp over Guardiola, when it's at it's best. I respect that style of football and Pep had got it spot on, but it's just boring at times and when it's not as effective as Pep has it, it's just rubbish to watch. But I would say Nagelsmann is quite different to Pep tactically and is closer to how you described Poch ie forcing turnovers and quick transitions etc.

I don't have an agenda, I'm happy to wait another year for Enrique or Nagelsmann. I'm a big fan of how Klopp plays football but that's not Pochettino, not sure how Nagelsmann is like Pochettino either, he's clearly much closer to Pep. This idea his Spurs side were some dynamic excitement machine is not how they were when I watched them, they were a hard grafting unit that relied on counters and individual brilliance up top, just ok, nothing special, and he's a guy that always played the big games on the backfoot, Klopp and Pep never do that, they attack the opposition home or away no matter who they are. He's also got no balls, he's an ideal Glazer puppet, now Ten Hag might also be the same as he's yet to manage a big club, but I know Pochettino is because he's shown it at Spurs and now PSG, he's not got the personality for a job like United, or at least the United we used to be, which is why he'll probably get the job as he'll just tread water in top 4 qualification and keep his mouth shut.

Spot on. If he does come, it will signal to me that we're content in being a top 4 club.

If we go Poch over ETH, City will go get ETH and will just continue to move away from us.

Toni Rudiger on a free is interesting, ship out Bailey and play him and Varane.

Luka Modric on a free. Games where we need someone to dictate, perfect addition to the squad. A winner as well.

James Ward-Prowse. Solely for his delivery from set pieces.

Kamara and Kessie on frees as well.

RN portray Dortmund's perspective on the recent Akanji links.
  • Dortmund are open to putting Akanji up for sale if the player wants to leave this year.
  • Akanji will enter his final year next season and has also rejected Dortmund's first extension offer.
  • RN think that €30m will be enough for Akanji.

Sounds like a great price, always impressed from the admittedly little I've seen him (back in decent form after a bad spell I read?).

Might sounds daft but I think the key thing we've lost from our transfer policy back in the SAF days is a focus on mentality. I care less about stats and highlight reels at the moment than I I signing solid professionals who are ready to do what it takes to win.

I think that can only be achieved through diligent work from our scouting team and good judgement from whoever ends up giving the final say (Ralph I'd trust. Few others I could say this for).

Whatever happens we need to rebuild this teams mentality from the ground up. Maguire captaining this lot says it all really, we're weak as piss. Find us 2 or 3 leaders for the pitch who can do their jobs AND THEN build on it with the Sancho / Bruno types.

Who these players are i have no idea. But I feel this is what we need to focus on if we're to break our embrassingly poor transfer record of the past decade.

They’re all investments to the owners. They need a manager to get the best out of them, as selling them on the wages they’re on will be incredibly hard. So your real world reality is flawed and doesn’t reflect how things actually work. Players rebelled against Jose, he got the sack, downed tools for Ole and he got the sack. Getting someone in who they have some commitment to is a good start. Poch is a good manager and does improve players, work within a budget and develops youth players.
What I give a toss about isn’t relevant, I have no controlling say within the club.

Yes but this summer we have a lto of players that are out of contract or wanting to move, its a totally diffent landscape to past summers. Pogba, Lingard, Pereira, Martial, Cavani almsot certainly wish to leave not to mention VDB and several others. It isnt trying to sell players that are keen to stay on the wages, these players want to go if the press is to be believed

Akanji is shite. That is why they are buying 2 CBs

Do we need a big lay out? And can we fill some of the roles you think need filling by bringing through one or two youngsters? I think we could mate, and it would be a more sensible and measured approach imo.
I agree with you. I love to see youngsters coming through, but we just seem to want to spend BIG like we had something to prove. "We are Manchester United we can buy the best". Unfortunately it doesn't always work out that way, and when some players are paid huge wages they seem to relax more often.
Rangnick is good at spotting a good bargain. All we need to do is get the board to listen.

150million I would imagine. That's what they will tell us anyway.
Which if you blow a big chunk of it on one player is not a lot. They will hopefully be getting some of the payroll through free agency. Then it is if we sell anybody. The squad is short at the moment. We might bring a couple of kids up, but will still need signings. They are going to need to be clever for once.

Plus the players we will sell. You can add Andreas that brought 10 million. Henderson, Martial potentially Bailly, DVB and Ronaldo. So we might get an extra 20-60 million depending on who leaves. So probably looking at 180-210 million.

Telles and AWB out? Really?

Also name me one club that has bought almost an entire first 11 in one transfer window.
Never mentioned anything about a club buying 11 players in one transfer window. I said we need 5/6 players and I can't see Glazers covering these transfers all together.

Yes, Rangnick has an eye for a good bargain but the board need to listen. It seems they just want to buy all the BIG names which doesn't always work as we know from the past.

Yes, probably but we will most likely spend this on 2 players, which would be wasteful again.

They seem to think it is the way to keep up with City and Liverpool, when City spend money, but buy wisely and Liverpool apart from the odd big money signing are very canny with their signings. Just splashing money about does not work, there has to be a plan behind it and there are bargains out there if you know where to look. That means listening to your scouts, listen to Ralf, stop going for the ego signings.

  • Barcelona are looking at a new keeper to replace Neto and to cover for Ter Stegen, who's currently dealing with a knee injury.
  • The candidates
    • Ilan Meslier (Leeds United)
    • Bartłomiej Drągowski (Fiorentina)
    • Yassine Bounou (Sevilla)
    • Maarten Vandervoordt (Genk)
    • Alban Lafont (Nantes)

6 months of good form and this club is scrambling to offer new deals  (if true, anyway). We're like the nerdy kid who likes anyone who remotely shows any interest and over-commits.
Not too bothered, but it will be how long for. Henderson has shown he is a bit of a whiner, so they need to make sure his successor is ready to come in. It is not Tom Heaton or Lee Grant. Do we have a young goalie already in our club who they can groom to be that follow on goalkeeper?

I hope they offer him a lower base rate, topped up by bonus if meets certain criteria like winning POTM or POTY or wins trophies, maybe even earn an extra 20k for every peno you save :wenger:

Why are we looking to give DDG another contract now? He's here til the end of 23/24. He's been very good this season, but 2 and a half seasons is a decent buffer for us, considering his age.

Ugh no thanks to Kane. I swear every player Guardiola gets linked with and then we get turns out to be underwhelming.

Kanes probably got legs older than his actual age at this point the way Spurs have used him over the years, particularly Poch. Exclude the Conference League stats and his stats this season are fecking wank.

Big Alexis Sanchez vibes coming off this move.

I don’t think it’s logical at all.
Easy get-out, yes. Neither logical, nor solves our problems.

Admittedly for the price quoted, it’s a good idea but he’s not that great. Blows too hot and then too cold!!

Got to be better options

He is exactly the kind of age where you would begin to expect more consistency. Kevin De Bruyne was signed by City at 24 after one solid season in Germany. Prior to that he was blowing hot and cold.

If they signed him then didn't have money for the midfield people would go ballistic.

Pochettino and Kane would combine the worst traits of this clubs board, lack of boldness and massive overspending on a name.

Modric isn't leaving Real Madrid and would probably not have the legs for the PL anymore. I think he's very happy playing in Spain and loved at RM.
