I was thinking about the second-best club in Germany with a track record of developing youngsters as opposed to a basket case like Derby.

If BVB bought Amad outright, then yes, they would give him game time to develop, but, as loan, not so sure, afterall, they have Haaland, Reus, Reyna, T.Hazard, Brandt, & Melen as their forwards (strikers/wingers), and he would not get ahead of any of them.

do they have some sort of injury crisis to be looking for a player like Amad on loan?

If he's as good as we hope he is, Amad should get game time at BVB. If fit, Haaland and Reus are the only guaranteed starters in their attack which leaves either 1 or 2 spaces depending on their set up. He should at least be in contention to get game time there, though Dortmund may want some kind of incentive for short loan, possibly an option to buy or an option to extend the loan to next season.

I do not know if there is any injury issues at BVB, but Amad would not get ahead of Hazard & Reyna if they are fit

Derby under Rooney would be a good loan. Mengi had a very good spell there until he got injured. They’d be doing very well without the points deduction and actually play good football.

Would he play?

Fair points, I was assuming that because they're in financial difficulties and rooted to the bottom of the championship that morale at the club must be low.

Getting minutes is obviously important but if we think he'll be good enough to play for us, I'd rather seem him at a club like Dortmund, although not if he never plays.

They have to start somewhere. They're in a relegation battle so they won't be signing top players for a few years yet.

They won't be getting out of the relegation zone with the manager they have and the players they have brought. I guess they aren't into throwing money at the problem, like City did when they won the lottery.

There are say four attacking positions in most formations. Haaland, Reus and (in current form) Brandt take three of them. That leaves one slot for Reyna, Malen and Hazard. As well as Dortmund's own upcoming talents, such as Moukoko and to a lesser degree Knauff and maybe even Bynoe Gittens towards the end of the season.

I could still see Dortmund having interest in such a deal, because Diallo's profile is sort of missing in the squad, but I don't really see how he would be anything more than a "let's try something else" impact sub.

City were a mid-table club so they could attract better players. Going to Newcastle now in a relegation battle isn't very appealing, regardless of how much money they have.

Although I hope you're right and they do go down.

Nothing concrete on outs so far sadly, if we do nothing in due to availability then so be it, disappointing as it would be I understand we need the right players. You to assume the chances increase as we move players on. Wages putting clubs off? Means we lose out on fees presumably.

We won’t sign any player this season. I can’t see any player coming in know he may not be fancied by our new manager in the summer. Why would United go and spend 30m on a player when we’d expect the squad to be re assessed once the new manager has had time to identify what he needs. It’s another cycle but hopefully we get it right next time round

Wasn't this the whole point of appointing a Football Director (Murtough), to ensure that the club continues to operate as normal throughout regime changes? Players like Pogba and Lingard will be out of contract before a new manager comes on board, so we have to decide whether to sell, let the contract run down or try to extend. VDB seemingly wants out so that decision needs to be made by the club.

If a scouted player we believe will improve the team becomes available at the right price we should go for them. At the quoted £6/7 million it would be a low risk investment anyway.

@Zehner I wasn't expecting this. Isn't Amiri one of their more key players in the side?

Last season he played a lot, this season he's been slapped on the bench by their new manager Seoane. I guess Amiri wants first team football and has peaced out, but going to Genoa who are currently in 19th in Serie A is a big step down.

He's more like second or third fiddle, currently. Wirtz, Demirbay, Diaby, Adli, Paulinho and Bellarabi all seem to be ahead of him in the hierarchy. He had a brief period under Bosz when he really excelled but that soon vanished again. Not really unexpected if you ask me, Amiri was always more of a "he's cheap, you can't do anything wrong signing him" but he was always the most limited talentwise. Wish him all the best though, I like the guy

Yeah, I guess the lack of football would be a drawback, though I was expecting him to get more minutes given how he's more reliable. I'm kind of surprised that Bellarabi and Adli are getting more minutes given their issues, but he is more limited than them.

I certainly wouldn't call him more limited than Bellarabi, who is very limited, but has a different profile. Bellarabi is a specialist wide dribbler, Amiri is more of a 8-ish/10-ish midfielder, no? So he's got Wirtz ahead of him.

I imagine this means offered by his agent, not the club.
I hope so. I had this theory that one of the reasons we are keeping him is because ETH is in line to be the next manager.
There's been links to Poch in the last few days, now this.

Official: Both Borja Mayoral and Gonzalo Villar are loaned out to Getafe until the end of the season.

Yeah, Limited is the wrong word in comparison to Bellarabi, specifically, but I guess Bellarabi's more direct and a better fit for the wide areas.
