Looks like Arsenal's Ainsley Maitland-Niles is close to joining Roma.

EDIT: More info

10M is way too low, they could resell him for more than that to a random PL in a year. A loan would do him good, let's just drag it until January 31st so he can cover during AFCON.

"Youngsters will be key" in his 6 months interim manager project?
He is staying for three years to guide the football operations. He asked for the same role with Chelsea after Frank was let go and Chelsea said interim only and he declined.

He's not going to 'guide' anything. He'll be a "consultant" meaning he'll get payed 2 years for handing in a few reports, giving an opinion when asked and holding a couple of presentations.
"I call it the 3 Cs, consistency, competency, and capital, bla bla".

Since when did you call the shots at United? Stop acting as if you know anything about what his role will be in the future. You aren’t Mystic Meg.

It’s a consultant role with executive privileges. The club clearly have hit the reset button and things will be done differently.

Unless Man Utd are just misleading their fans and stock holders, you are wrong about his role.

What I do is actually listen to what is said.
Rangnick himself said in the opening press conference that no specifics about the future consultancy role had been fleshed out in the short time. Which tells you pretty clearly that the only thing that was agreed was the job title and the money, as that was what got him to sign up for the 6 months role.

You don't seriously think that after that, with no competency agreed and nothing negotiated, he'll "have a say" about signings once you have a new manager on top of your DoF? Murtough appreciates his input so it will have some weight, but apart from that how do you think this is supposed to work?

It's nice that there will be a "reset" or "project" at United, but it will be hardly Rangnick's..

Why? The club couldn't have been more vague about this role if they tried. I also don't think he will have much input, but that's obviously just a gut feeling since no one knows anything about this.

What is is that they told their stockholders, and the public, then? Unless I missed something, it's 'hired as interim manager until the end of the season followed by a two year consultancy role'.
Nothing about that reads like "Meta-DoF and actual long term chief of project" to me.

If Kieran Trippier leaves, and he's NOT one hundred percent sure, another right-back will come. At the moment the club does NOT think of signing a central [defender or midfielder?] for January.

He will assist in the hiring of the next manager and player acquisition.

You really do not like RR!! Did he steal your toys? Or slept with your wife? Or right, Leipzig, Salzburg, blah, 50+1, and all that football sainthood. Fine.
Anyway, another poster filled with hatred on ignore list. Bye.

Your posts were ok before Ralf but bloody hell you’ve seemingly just turned into a weird bitter troll now. No one on this planet seems to dislike the bloke more than you do, it would be fascinating to understand why if your posts weren’t so rinse and repeat.

You seem determined to mock and shit on every bit of positivity that anyone has on here these days.

Why are you aggressive? I was mocking only a Fabriziano Romano tweet.

This comes across quite lazy and ill informed.

What we know is that he 1) rejected roles in the past that didn't offer him organization remits at the higher level, that 2) he is very well respected by Murtough and Arnold and 3) he has a clear say in who should be manager, because he said in his opening press conference he may well suggest he stays on if the right person is not available.

So clearly he has a role beyond the 6 months, his lack of transparency on the role doesn't mean its a feck all job but that he doesn't need to go out into specifics on it during his debut press conference.

Always has been :wenger:

Still, reading the way Romano and other people write about Rangnick you'd assume he owns the club. If you can have his input you'd be stupid not to listen to him, but ultimately it's going to be the DoF, CEO and next coach, who will make the decision, not the consultant.

The fee: €22m + bonuses

I remember when he was on loan at Rennes that season. I expected him and Dembele to go on to be top tier wingers of their generation. Never quite worked for either

Debatable. Agree with the rest, though. There’s far too many posers on this forum who offer nothing but snide remarks in the guise of being ‘opposition fans looking for discourse on a neutral Man Utd forum’

He was asked if he could imagine staying on, and answered that IF they asked for his opinion, he might suggest to stay on, which was already a profoundly strange thing to say. But in any case it does in no way prove that he "has a clear say in who should be manager".

It's funny that you guys get annoyed by someone fact-checking the most basic parameters about your manager. Everyone going about like Rangnick will run the club for years, and if I question how you get that idea, I'm a hater and a WUM?

The Bundesliga fans on here are the type of people who go around with a pin popping balloons at birthday parties.

Also, they can never be wrong which is an infuriating combination.

On that note, if you feel the need to reply to this saying that I'm incorrect or want to pop my metaphorical balloon, just don't, chew on your keyboard with frustration instead as I won't be responding.

The CEO is leaning very heavily on Rangnick. As is Murtough. This has been reported by a breadth of credible sources.

There's feck all fact checking from you though. Not one person has said Rangnick is solely running things or that hes a CEO or sole technical director.

What we have argued against is this silly logic from your end that hel do nothing outside provide reports.

Thank God for that. Don’t fancy him here so keep him away from this league.
playing in weaker Spanish sides is a bit of a waste for him though
All the posturing Raiola has been doing since there was talk of moving has been aimed at Spain. Talking up Barcelona being able to afford him, heading over to Spain to talk to both clubs before coming to England etc.
