He'll be waiting for a Championship job. Norwich was at least a free hit to somehow stay up, though in all likelihood he would have almost certainly added relegation to his CV.

Is this the type of thing that starts players turning on a manager, or will be looked at as disgruntled bench players?

If the bench players can influence the first-team players and have them turn against the manager, too, then sure, the former might be the case. Otherwise, this can affect the dressing room harmony, which has its own adverse effects.
