Would you not have bought back Memphis this year, as an example?

Players can surprise you.
While I agree, buy back clauses aren't a bad idea, I definitely would have brought bavk Memphis. Not a chance, I think we actually did have a buy back for him anyway and chose not to.

We had a buyback clause for Memphis for 4 years for 35M if I'm not mistaken, we just choose not to activate it.

Of course the players must agree to go back which I don't think he would have.

Dan James' doesn't have a high enough ceiling for a buyback clause to make sense. We're looking to sell for 15-20m. At best he gains confidence and stops missing sitters and he becomes a decent squad player for us (which he isn't now, which is why we're hopefully looking to sell him).

Memphis has ten times the technical ability of Dan James, but he played for us when we were awful and that affects people's opinion of him. James wouldn't have contributed anything of note under Mourinho/LVG and I'm not making excuses for how poor Memphis was.

Sorry but what's Depay got to do with Dan James?

  • PSG don't want to let Icardi leave.
    • PSG rejected both 1-year and 2-year loan offers from Juventus.
    • If Mbappé stays, then the situation might change.
  • Juventus are still interested in Witsel.
    • Transfer might be done in the last few hours of the window.
    • Juve would prefer to sell a player first, but that won't stop them from buying Witsel.
    • Dortmund want to buy a replacement before selling Witsel.

  • Agreement with the player
  • Loan + purchase option for €10m
    • Fulham prefer a purchase obligation.

A muscle injury seems to be a weird reason to pull out of a whole season's loan deal? He'll be out for only a few weeks with that and now there's even a two week break for internationals

That Amad news is just a bit bizarre.
Might actually force our hand to get rid of players we initially thought of keeping so he can take their minutes once he’s back from injury while also gaining key first team experience in a team he’s expected to be in long term wise.

Simply put, I hope Lingard & James are moved on and their rare minutes are given to Amad.

Its not like Feyenoord were the only club interested in him, so he must have other options as well. I remember Palace wanting him, I think its a club in flux but a premier league loan where he can get games is nothing to ignore.

So they watched us sell Zouma to make room for Kounde, then promptly raised the asking price, reneging on the previous agreement between the clubs, knowing there's just one day left in the window so Chelsea will either have to pay up or walk away. That's some sneaky shit I almost respect it

There are 2 days left only. We should have sold or loaned out Amad, James and Lingard by now. One got injured and the others will probably end up staying as well.
That’s 3 players who won’t be playing much but will still need time and efforts from the coaching team who should rather focus on our other players.
Not good for the 3 players and not good for the entire squad.

James has something depay will never have. Workrate, desire and determination. He maybe be a technically limited olay compared to depay but id have james over depay every day. Depay is the laziest player ive ever seen wear the utd shirt. Just awful and vastly overrated.

This is weird one. No infos about a possible option/obligation to buy yet.

Many players have been poor/lazy for us under LVG and Mourinho. That's in the past now, maybe he wasn't ready for the EPL. Not preferring a player that's banging them in for Barcelona over a winger that scores 4 goals a season and we're looking to sell is just silly. I take it you think Martial and Lingard are better than Lukaku and Di Maria?

Well, he'll get fit and go somewhere else. I don't think there's a restriction on when you can move on loan

There is. Most countries only allow new additions to the squad during the winter and summer windows. Unless he goes to Croatia (with different windows) or something like Levitt did, he's "stuck" with us.

Has to be more to the Amad story than is being told. You don't pull out of a whole season deal off the back of a minor injury, surely?

Ok, what about the Championship or another PL club?

Well the talk has been 'it's possible.' You'd think if they were really committed to taking the kid on loan then they'd wait for a recovery

Nope, he has to assess his options in the winter, sadly. Unless he goes to a country with different windows. Didn't Levitt go to Croatia or something for that reason?

The thing. Feyenoord only have 3 senior players of a decent quality for the front 3 positions. One of the lads is a Columbian international and he's going into quarantine after the international break. The other is an Iranian international and can't play against Israeli teams. Feyenoord is playing 3 matches in 8 days after the break, including Macabi Haifa in the conference league. They're desperate to strengthen the squad right now. By all accounts, their TD pulled out of the deal.

One of Bild's guys reports that the Sabitzer deal has passed all internal institutions at Bayern, a fee below €15m, but bonus payments over the span of the contract.

Yeah. Just turning off the lights and locking up shop so abruptly as they [Feyenoord] have done, sounds very sus to me
