I hope he gets a move away he’s not getting a sniff this season
Yeah he’s not United first team level but he’ll have a good career at a decent attacking club and he’s only really wasting his time here now given the number of layers vying for a starting place

The Eridivisie is really bad defensively so not great in terms of getting him used to dealing with PL quality defenders but it's a good league for him to express himself in attack. Wouldn't have been my 1st choice for a loan but I'd still prefer it to the Championship at least.

Dan James is the Quinton Fortune/the David May/the Clayton Blackmore of our times. Yes, he'll never be more than a utility player but he's good at running up and down really quickly. He can step in for the three handled trophy when others need a rest.

The abuse he gets on this forum is quite telling. He's never been anything but a professional for the club.

Absolutely. Add to that the poor kid lost his father very shortly before joining us. He got chucked in and overplayed when he was clearly very raw.

By the way, on the Dan James story, Alan Nixon's also reported something very similar, and I consider him to be one of the more reliable journalists working for The Sun.

Apologies, but this is the only Tweet I can find with the linked article.

Rashford/Pogba, Ronaldo/Cavani, Greenwood/Sancho.

For comparison, last season of the front 3 players, 7th for most minutes played was Mata @ 850mins and 250 of those were as a no 10.

Do we keep James to play ~600 minutes and leave 15-20m on the table? It's literally 5 early cup rounds and some sub appearances. I'd rather see Elanga (who's not going out on loan) get those minutes, and Mata is still with us.

We're never in a million years going to find a club dumb enough to go for Martial, but James and Lingard wouldn't be a bad start.

He is no kid, he's almost 24 and nowhere near good enough for United.

People need to stop clinging onto championship players because of personal circumstances and other non-football related matters when discussing football.

Do they really? Thanks for letting me know.

Nobody is abusing him, he's just not good enough and we have 5 better options than him, selling simply makes sense.

Really hoping James and Lingard exits before the end of window could signal a Ruben Neves signing to play in midfield. I really think his passing range and the fact he is still so young, could be a top signing for us and make us so much more dangerous on the break with the pace we have.

Just so we're clear by they I meant you and others like you who would keep League 2 players in our squad because they hurt their foot 2 years ago.

Dermot Mee from Manchester United u23s has moved on work experience/loan to Trafford and played in goal for them Saturday.

Quinton Fortune was actually a very decent footballer. More ability than Dan has shown so far. I love Dan's work ethic and he's a good kid but he doesn't offer anything we can't get from our academy.

Said something in that article about a new contract for James... haven't we learned anything these last years? If he wasn't injured all the time, Jones would be doing cartwheels while laughing all the way to the bank and back to collect money for doing nothing.

We need to get rid of these players that simply isn't good enough. We've got enough cover for these positions and youth behind that with more potential. We could use money from these sales to get a player for that certain position we need to strengthen...

Varanes salary was reported as closer to £200k. Which was still a raise on his Real Madrid salary. Funny how the figures change when it suits.

Indeed, Ducker is the first one to report that and only reported it now in an article where he is telling us how United signed Cristiano!!!!

Very suspicious.. no one else reported Varane was the highest paid in PL when we signed him, not even himself!!!!

Please be true! I really cant believe we have left it this late. Regardless of signing ROnaldo, we should have been selling James and Lingard this window to buy a central midfielder. Obviously several other players, but they are the obvious ones. We have youngsters (now going on loan) ad Mata who could cover what James and Lingard offer.

If we are genuinely in for a central midfielder and it depends on sales and we fail due to time, that would be so poor. Even for just £30m for the pair (and they should fetch £10-15m more), we woul dhave money for several good options.

Strange choice as it's a poor league and isn't going to prepare him for the physicality of the PL which is his only obstacle imo.

I disagree. His main obstacle at the moment is developing his game with minutes on the pitch. I think the dutch league will allow him to get games and develop his technique.

The main problem with him developing any physicality is simply his physique, it doesnt matter where he goes, strength and conditioning can improve that over a year.

Where I would have preferred him to go to a premiership or top championship side though and agree with you largeley though is the dutch league doesnt really help in dealing with the pace of the premiership. As talented as his appears, how many sides in the premiership would we expect him to be starting most games, at this stage probably not too many

Mata would need a golf cart to cover what James offer.

Will be very good window if James leaves. Team is top heavy and he'd be the first out of the door for me. Just hope it's true and the report of Ole saying he is not for sale was just posturing.

To be honest I'd have Mata or/and Lingard out the door first over James, but all three can and probably should be going.
All 3 should definitely have been shifted. I can only surmise that Mata is still here in some sort of mentoring or coaching capacity

I don't really see how this makes sense unless we're still moving Tolisso on. Right now we'd end up with at least three guys waiting for a slot in line behind Kimmich and Goretzka.

He's never been anything but a professional for the club.
He’s never been criticised for lack of professionalism. Only for lack of footballing ability.

15-20m are way more valuable for the team compared to what James offers. These monies, coupled with a fee for Lingard, may allow us to purchase a midfielder we need

How it is a good window if a squad player leaves without a replacement??

Elanga can be his replacement. I'm pretty sure Having Sancho, Greenwood, Pogba, Martial and Rashford to come back is enough cover. Mata if we are desperate or even Lingard if we can't sell him. I think we'll be OK. So yeah I will definitely be happy if James goes as I don't rate him at all.

Official: West Ham have signed Kurt Zouma from Chelsea.

Couldn't afford Lingard at £25m the other week as they were 'skint'. Now they're splashing £30m on Zouma? Doesn't add up.

Apparently, Lee Kang-in is going to join Mallorca after Valencia recently rescinded his contract.

My go to team on FM, when did they get bought out?
