Mbappe-and-Ronaldo.jpg

Isn't exactly enamored by the idea of playing with Messi?

Cal?iyan Mbappe

So, ego then?

Anyone who wants to see themselves as leading a team on their own back rather than being successful with a team is a monumental tool in my opinion.
Isn't that the basics of a striker's mentality tho? Ego, confidence and single mindedness?

Mbappe really is a moron or advised by morons.

And here I am thinking the opposite where he goes to a respectable league and leads a team. Instead of just being a cog in a sport washed team. Shows he actually has a desire to be the best instead of just being along for a ride. It's rare in today's era of any sports since most players just take the easy way out

Of all the possible reasons for not wanting to play with Messi, that would be probably the most moronic in the context of an adult deciding on the next step of his professional career.
Boy have I got a thread for you!

The arrogance of this guy
His people really gassed him up into thinking he is a Real Madrid level.

Deluded beyond belief
Well Florentino Perez seems to think he is

Hence Ramos warning his teammates not to take pay cuts to fund his transfer

Is really no-one surprised that ego reasons is the flip side to “why wouldn’t this great player play with this great player?”. Some of these guys thrive on being the main man at the club.

It's funny seeing football fans question how dare a player not want to play with an All-Time great yet complain about clubs assembling All-Star teams at the same time

Mbappe always wanted Real, he saw PSG as a stepping stone after Monaco. I dont think Messi is of relevance. He wont sign a long term contract at PSG. I could see him sign for another 2 years, but they want him longer, which wont happen. He will walk on a free next year is my guess.

Why would Mbappe not want to play with Messi?
He is the 3rd guy at PSG and he knows it. The club is basically Neymar's club (he helped recruited Messi) and with these two on the same attack Mbappe can never be the main face of the project or win any individual award

so I guess this source is good right?  "Sorry, but I want to play with Vini"
we will see if the signing begins to move, that we are in the middle of August
I hate to burst your bubble, but L'Équipe are hit and miss for the most part. Let's wait and see what more reliable sources (Le Parisien, RMC Sport, etc.) say.

Better to keep the hot-air balloon on the ground than let it float and potentially burst into flames :)

If I find something, you'll definitely see it here.

I don't think it's that Mbappe specifically doesn't want to play with Messi, I think it's probably more that it doesn't change his mind about signing a new contract. He would be crazy to leave this summer though.

It would be if one of his idols in Benzema wasn't also recruiting him hard all summer when they were together with the French NT

Just saying that it's not exactly a shock that he'd want to be the main man himself elsewhere. Neymar did the same years ago when he realized he'd never win a Ballon D'or playing on the same team as Messi.

The same thing still rings true for Mbappe, maybe he has ambitions of winning one at some point and that will never happen on a team with Messi even if they win the CL

Mbappe won't win Ballon d'Ors in UCL either as long as Benzema is still in Real Madrid. Or if Haaland ever joins Real Madrid.

I don't think there's a chance that P$G sell him this summer but it's not a surprise he still wants out when we were hearing the same rumblings even after they signed the likes of Ramos, Donnarumma and Hakimi.

Think he just wants to move on and start another chapter outside of France, almost zero world class players stick around their entire primes and careers in France and if he were to sign a new contract it would likely take him into his late 20's so I'm not surprised he wants to challenge himself elsewhere.

Especially for players with ambitions of potentially winning Ballon D'ors, that's never going to happen in a side with the likes of Messi, Neymar and Ramos regardless of the numbers he puts up. Neymar made that same calculation when he was playing for arguably the best team in the world at the time.

I know, thank you :D. We will have to wait. I think he will speak on friday, hopefully to say something interesting.
Meanwhile I will settle for seeing Pedrerol chewing that tweet over and over again

Benzema is turning 34 soon, not even prime Benzema or Bale stopped Ronaldo from winning Ballon D'ors

A late career Benzema isn't half the impediment to a Ballon D'or that a prime Neymar and likely Ballon D'or winner in Messi are...

Personally don't see Madrid landing Haaland AND Mbappe, you're right if they somehow do though.

Cristiano is one of the GOATS in history and Mbappe is nowhere near close to his level.

And post-2018 Benzema is a much better player than ever before. He scores 30 goals in a shite Real Madrid & is a great passer in the final 3rd.

We all saw Benzema was clearly a few levels above Mbappe when playing together in Euro 2020. I doubt it'll change in Madrid.

Looking at those pics, maybe he should go join Ronaldo at Juve.

Personally, I'd love Mbappe at UTD maybe instalments of £20m per year for the next 5 years, I think PSG would go for that & UTD can surely afford that, although I did notice none of those pics of Ronaldo were of him at UTD just Real Madrid only.

We will need a striker next summer. Why not try for him? Imagine Mbappe Rashford Bruno Sancho as front 4  .

I'm not saying Benzema isn't class, I've always rated him and he's been the one holding RM together the past 2 seasons but I don't think he'd make it harder for him than the likes of Neymar and Messi would when it comes to winning individual awards.

What I saw at the Euros was Mbappe being uncharacteristically differential and unselfish trying to set Benzema up with chances as often as he could due to their bromance and the fact he was back with the NT for the first time in years . Highly doubt he would've passed up some of those chances and opt for the assist/pass for anyone besides Benzema or Ronaldo. He rarely does it for Neymar.

I doubt Benzema wouldn't return the favor if they played together at the same club, he's already one of the best playmaking no.9's in the world as it is and Mbappe admittedly looks up to him.

Competitive team in an uncompetitive league.

These pricks are going to have to start buying superstars for all the other teams in Ligue Un if he wan't his toy football club to be relevant.
And people wonder why the ESL has been mooted and it won’t go away until FIFA and UEFA do something about clubs owned by states with infinite resources because the traditionally “large clubs”, Real, Barca, juve, United Liverpool are taking it in the arse from these nouveau riche clubs.

However you feel about about that is one thing but you can clearly see why the likes of Real and Barca and possibly Juventus are really keen not to let this go so easily and I suspect despite the noises coming from United and Liverpool they’re not either.

UEFA and FIFA have fecked themselves by allowing this to happen and one day the ESL or something not too dissimilar will happen.
