My eternal, well momentary is more likely, respect. I would tend to agree, but I could also see Hoppe, Weah, or even Pulisic, given a shot. Actually, the Pulisic idea would let GB start Aaronson start on the left, where he has been fantastic.

I am from Philly area and have seen him a few times for Philly union. Love him and his style of play. Hope he keeps developing.

I am loving this drama free end to the transfer window for us. I know there are questions about whether we will sign a midfielder or Trippier but our key signings are already in place and I am not that bothered because I know we can fill the remaining holes of a ST, CM and RB next window easily. We already seem to have done substantial ground work on it already. We did well to sign Sancho early this time otherwise after Lukaku/Grealish deals, who knows if the price would have shot up again. Now Sancho's signings seems like done at a bargain price compared to these other moves. For once, we have been competent in the transfer window.

Yeah you are right. I think it would have increased our price a tad bit at least

I think this is short-term thinking by United. What happens when the 1-yr loan is over? The reason to loan a player is to get him regular game time to improve his game, so he'll be good enough to play in your own squad after the loan, or be more attractive to other clubs if you want to sell then. Clearly, Villa is bringing in Axel to be a backup at CB and RB. Would he get enough game time at Villa to become a quality player at CB? Who knows. But if he doesn't because he spends most of the loan period warming the bench he'll become another problem for United to shift next summer. A loan to a club like Newcastle that is more likely to play him regularly, even if for a lower loan fee, would have been the smarter move in the long term.
If they're paying £5m for a loan there must be some intent to play him. Either way, he'll be getting more minutes than he would here.

We're usually terrible at getting money for our players so this is a rare example where we've done well. Southampton supposedly pulled out of the Brandon Williams loan over a £2m fee so it's possible Newcastle wouldn't pay up either. A lot of teams are really scrimping with the impact of covid while Villa are awash with cash.

Good decision imo.

Nobody will pay a serious price for him and the 2019/20 Martial was better than Lukaku. I feel if Inter signed Martial, he'd end up being a bigger success than Lukaku there too. Give him a chance to find that form back. If he just continues to be 2020/21 Martial, at least we tried.

I reckon Trippier in and Dalot out will be a late move in the window. Martial survives because of Rashford’s surgery.

If Martial has a good season, we need to take advantage of that and cash in on him because he’s only going to follow it with two bad seasons.

Nice early retirement for Messi.
Yeah. What a waste

Even if he went to city (which i am glad he hasn't) I would at least respect the decision to try a competitive league. PSG is the easy, boring option. Can see why Ramos, 35 and Messi, 34 have done it, I guess. It's just a shame.

Started 12 league games last season. Mental. I'd understand if it was a PL team paying that much for a PL Proven striker and all that, but Roma -- drop £34m on Abraham? Mental.

There's definitely alternatives across Europe much cheaper for a club of that size/level.

I will never understand how Chelsea can get so much money for their fringe players, it's ridiculous!
This is a bit of a myth to be honest - they generally get the going rate for their fringe players, I would also add that £34m for Abraham is a decent piece of business by Roma if it goes ahead.

With Ings going for a premium price, a younger goal scorer moving for a few million more seems a bargain.

Abraham is a good player, and has massive potential to score goals. 34 million isn’t bad at all in today’s market.

I think the secret is to not keep your fringe players to the point that they are worthless, something we always do. Perreira should have been sold right after he had decent loan spells in Spain, McTominay should have been sold a couple years ago too when he had his breakthrough season. Now watch him leave for peanuts in a few years. We have countless cases like that.

It can work both ways I guess, as they have let quite a few future superstars go too.

Is Abrahmovic giving other clubs backhanders for these player sales?
Chelsea always seem to get well over the odds for their deadwood

26 goals in 89 premier league games for Tammy. Being in a top team like Chelsea you'd expect him to score more in all honesty. Ings went for a premium because he scored 34 goals in the last 2 seasons for Southampton, a much better record given he was at a significantly worse club than Tammy.

Spending 40m euros on Tammy is pretty wild for cash strapped Roma. Certainly is not a bargain.

Money and the fact he's got most of his mates in Paris. Easy transition.

Very similar goals per minutes ratio with Tammy just ahead (what with Tammy making mere fleeting apperances in the premier league this would be a greater, albeit not perfect, way of comparisons, the perfect way would be to weight who the goals were against etc).

Tammy is 5 years younger, with bundles of experience at international as well as club level, I'd say it's a good signing all round for Roma,

We have been trying for years and he has consistently underwhelmed with the odd spell of good form. What convinces you he would be better than lukaku who was good consistently for west brom, everton and inter

If Abraham was at United he would be afforded another season or two at the club, as an academy graduate, before being sold for a third of the price. It is part of United's identity to allow academy graduates time and space to develop. Chelsea, Liverpool, and a few others are quite ruthless at selling when the price is highest. There are a few examples.

AM need to sell Tripp at a good price followed by buying new RB this window or they won't be able to play 4 at the back. They haven't made much in sales, and their financial situation is that they need to sell before being able to buy.

I saw AM's RB Arias at PSV. He's terrible. He went on loan at 28, so can consider him a flop. Vrsaljko is a bit of a crock and played wing back exclusively last season. AM always play 3 at the back when Tripp's not available.

Hate to dogpile, but yeah, look at Nathaniel Phillips for Liverpool too - similar sort of energy as it looks like Pool will be letting him go too.

He doesn’t look like a footballer

They signed his teammate Milot Rashica earlier in the window, I think. Always interesting seeing teams since two players from the same side in one window!
