Imagine Poch still fails to win the league

Well Ole seems happy with his squad by that interview. Hopefully the excuses for him won't be thrown around in May if we've won feck all again.

Their front three will be Neymar, Messi and Mbappe.

Donnarumma in goal. Ramos & Marquinhos at CB. Varratti in midfield.

They'll be favourites for the CL.

And Hakimi and Bernat at full back. Icardi, Di Maria on the bench!

Their central midfield is still a bit crap though. Idrissa Gueye, Ander Herrera and Paredes aren’t very exciting.

While I think this is nonsense, I wonder what happens if PSG say they can't/won't pay? Is the PL a realistic choice then?
I still think he will end up at Barcelona. The corrupt know all the hacks.

Not that barca isn’t corrupt but they're not as corrupt as they are unwise. I’d say the oil barons definitely have way more tricks up their sleeves. Barca was just run really badly with poor planning. Covid really destroyed them in the short term. The damages may become long term if they don’t handle this better or bring Messi back.

I’d be genuinely amazed if he now goes back to Barca. I’m sure he knows a lot more than us and he’s definitely aware that they can’t afford him. If anything he’s doing them a favour by leaving.

Besides now that Barca’s dealing are all out in the open, it’ll be really tough to pull any corrupt tricks and not attract attention.

This makes it all the sadder.

Also, from the Barca Reddit

It’s not about the money. If his contract will be renewed, it technically counts as a new registration, and because of the salary cap of La Liga, no new registration can be played in case that salary requirement isn’t met

This is a big fee for an MLS team, but Busio's incredibly talented. I'll have fun watching him in Serie A.

@WI_Red @MrMarcello @Zaphod2319

i think one of the reasons for the bigger fees is MLS is paying higher wages now. In the last three years MLS teams are paying much better.

The success of their peers in Europe is also driving these kids to go to Europe to grow. I think it is great for the growth in the US.

If MLS could open the league to promotion and relegation, I think it would get a lot more fans. I live in coastal Georgia, so I follow Atlanta United in MLS. If there was relegation and promotion more fans would be going to teams in the lower leagues like Jacksonville Armada who are just a 40 minute drive for me. If they had a chance at promotion, I would probably attend all their games. It is difficult to spend your time and money on a team that even if they have a great season, nothing really comes of it.

Until this afternoon, everything indicated that Messi was going to sign his new contract with Barça. Then Javier Tebas announced to Joan Laporta that if he refused the agreement with the CVC investment fund, the Argentine would not be registered in La Liga.

If Messi signs for PSG this will screw up the Pogba move. We'll either bend over for Raiola and give Pogba a crazy contract or the whole season will be shadowed by it.

Excellent signing, however figuring out who is going to coach the team would be nice as well.

The extended silver lining for this is that it might free up more time for Weah at Lille!
He's excellent indeed, so this is a major development for you and other ATL fans!

Wishfully hoping we can return to the glory days of 2018 with Araujo playing the role of Almiron and Almeda (when he gets here) filling is as a much better Nagbe. My only concern is that the last young Argentine attacker we bought for big money has not worked out as well as I hoped.

if Atlanta gets a manager that can get the squad playing as a team. Still have talent, but it is so disjointed.

Friday is the day Chelsea meet with Inter’s board over Lukaku. If it is going to happen, I think we will know something by Friday evening.

How did you come to that conclusion?

It’s actually better for us if PSG can’t afford him. The only club who did want to sign him. Now he’ll have to accept the contract we offered him because he has no other choices left.

I really think we should offer Pogba + Martial for Mbappe, once PSG signs Messi. I'd go as far as offering them 30,40 million on top of that.
If PSG get Messi I can't see why Mbappe would want to leave, PSG may just have the highest wage bill ever if they do sign him and keep Mbappe.

Or he can wait a year and feck off for free?

When they sold Sane, they bought Dias, Ake and Torres afterwards for around £115m , this year they £100m for Grealish and maybe £160m for Kane, so their spending for 2 years could be up to £375m in 2 summer windows only, that's bonkers

Not sure why the Kane speculation is continuing. Perfectly clear to me Kane is going nowhere this window.

I think it’s a little bit more complicated than that.

If free, his wages and agent fees would still be a hefty investment even for a club like PSG if they’ve signed Messi and also kept Mbappe, who most likely will stay if Messi joins. Having so many high earners will be tough.

It’s still possible but they’d have to move on a bunch of players to accommodate Pogba. These days it’s not easy to sell players. All clubs are suffering to move on players. Players like Herrera, Paredes, Gueye, Draxler etc aren’t really ideal players to sell knowing the wages they earn. They’ll literally have to sell them at peanut prices just so clubs can even afford to pay their wages.

Let’s also say we sign Haaland next summer, then we’ll be just as enticing a destination as PSG.

Personally I’d rather Pogba leaves but it’s starting to look like he isn’t in a rush to leave anymore. Ole seems to like him too. Atleast more than many of us fans do.

This is under the assumption that you've created where Messi joins PSG and Mbappe stays. Even so, he may join Madrid for free who have been quite smart with their investments lately. He would obviously still be pricey, but Pogba will find a club if he waits out his contract as a free agent. He's far too talented a player not to be snapped up on a bosman.

Yeah I was replying to the poster who was also talking about Messi joining PSG hence the whole scenario. But yeah my guess is Mbappe wouldn’t want to leave if Messi joins.

Also doubt Madrid is an option. It was always Zidane that wanted him. Madrid are due a rebuild, one that we are just about to complete. Why would he join another rebuild after being a part of one the last 5 years?
