another club do Liverpool a massive favour, just like Wolves did when they agreed to sell Jota for an initial £5 million payment. Unbelievable how often they negotiate deals which favour them but stiff the selling club.

No obligation to buy is a great deal for Liverpool. Fixes their short term issue with next to no financial risk. They needed a CB and they got a good one.

Rejects the chance to play FB/WB at Southampton to play in midfield for Allardyce's WBA...
When 4 consecutive coachs don't fancy you in that position, maybe you should just accept it and make the most of your opportunity where you can play.
I really like him, i hope he gets vindicated and gets a good move in the summer but he's slowly doing a Walcott and might lose himself.

I now have to hope that he proves to be a massive liability and ends up costing them crucial points with his shitness. Well done also to Arsenal, without whom none of this would have been possible. Surely they must have realised that in agreeing to terminate Mustafi they were helping the vermin out with their current defensive issues. Brain dead club right there.

Apparently having competent people in charge of negotiations has its benefits.

Mustafi's termination was in progress before they lost Matip. If we could have gotten 2 or 3M from Liverpool directly, we'd have done it too. We're not exactly competing for the league.

It's not too bad, yeah. The difference in the loan fee is because the 500k is variable; that is dependent on the number of appearances that Kabak makes.

I wonder what Schalke's side of the deal is, they are currently bottom of the Bundesliga and if a defender is good enough for Liverpool, he can help keep them from getting relegated. Surely, the 1.5M isn't higher than revenue loss from dropping down a league. Other than Wagner doing his daddy a favor or Schalke doing Kabak good, I can't the benefit for them if they don't include an obligation to buy.

He's been as poor as the rest of the team in fairness. Schalke are an incredibly poorly run team which might go some way to explaining how they've ended up with such a poor deal. Also Wagner got sacked in September.

David Wagner is the Schalke manager? Little wonder the scouse could get this done easily in time. Still remember his time at Huddersfield and gifting easy wins to his buddy Klopp

Edit: I read it again, he's former

No he has gone. It's now a blast from the past Christian Gross.

Breaking. We've just signed Phil Jones. He is an ex-England centerback with loads of experience. Should be a good signing for some added depth.

Tyler Boyd joins Sivasspor on loan for the remainder of the season.

Cenk Tosun returns to Besiktas.
