Lets be honest, with or without the transfer ban, Chelsea would have spent the money because they have a rich owner who is willing to invest.

Liverpool and Manutd are run in similar ways by Americans who do not want to invest heavily.

We can all talk about heavy investment by our club over the last few years, but the money has been spent terribly. Who's fault is that? the board.

I've found in the last few years Roman has curtailed his spending somewhat. That was likely down to him losing loads of money due to stock market volatility but I still believe they are spending lots this season because they stockpiled money they'd budgeted for incomings during the ban period.

United have spent lots of cash in the last few years. There's a decent argument that we could have spent more but the gross spend is nothing to sneeze at. Agree that we spent it on duds for the most part, but transfers are usually a crap shoot. What really grates me is the amount of time we spent trying to get Baines and Fellani, only to miss out on Kroos and Thiago. Moyes should have been sacked the moment we ended up only getting Marouane.

Unless Doherty leaves, then there is a lot of competition for the RWB / RW roles at Wolves.
I think Doherty's been their only right wing back in their squad for the past few years. Traore would be moved there if they fell behind, but he typically wouldn't play there. Maitland-Niles will add some depth and competition to that role, and he can also play in midfield if needed.

Just logged in to see a notification for 47 new transfer tweets, got excited that maybe, just maybe, there would be something positive United related. Even some outgoings. Nope. I should have known better

This is the problem. We ended up spending one whole summer negotiating £10m difference with perisic too.

We really need to look at how we buy players. If the managers are getting their say, then they need to be backed for a longer period.

What is happening is we change managers every 2/3 years and the new manager is being left with 2/3 different type of players under various managers.

Then the manager has an excuse not to perform for one season, saying needs a rebuild.

We need to buy players that are right for this club, then hire managers who will work with those players with 1/2 additions.

Khaldoon al-Mubarak confirms that City are still active in the transfer market whilst trying to dampen down expectations.

For sure. It seems Ole is getting that right.

Which I like. But if he isn't backed this summer, who do you think will be under pressure and facing the sack?

So spend 2 years rebuilding then get the sack for performances.

This season, we all know that we are not good enough to last the whole campaign, the players need help.

We have got rid of Fellaini, Young, Herrera, Darmian, Lukaku, Sanchez and replaced with AWB, Maguire, James, Bruno..

I would not swap any of them but it is clear more needs to be done.

Well since you won (read: bribed) the case, you are not meant to be the one carrying grudge. We hope UEFA will though and give us some popcorn moments.

It's a story on Lindelof and how he stopped a thief.

Edit:

Quite a heartwarming story actually, hero :)

I feel like him and Maguire can now re-create that scene where Batman interrogates Joker in prison now.

Feel like if the wages are right we should be all over thiago silva. Only as a stop gap but would provide cover and a chance for the others to learn from him. And it frees money up for other positions.

For lack of a better Tweet:

Here's the Goal.com link for those of you outside of the U.S. & Canada. Original source

Here's something very, very important: the agent never name-dropped Barcelona and Real Madrid in this interview. Calciomercato name-dropped the clubs themselves, and everyone's running with it as if the agent mentioned them.

Actual quotes:
We don't want to rush into decisions to make. The club knows our point of view and the important thing, in any case, is that Fabian has a great performance and that he does his utmost.

This is consistent with reports from March that Fabian Ruiz and his agent have set aside contract negotiations until the end of the season.

Get away. He’s nearly 36. Why don’t we see if we can get Zlatan back for another year while we’re at it.

He's needed a loan for some time. I'm glad that there are clubs that are interested in him.

I get that, but there are still 6 weeks left to get players in. Let's be patient.

Quotes:
Luis Alberto and Lazio have publicly stated their intention to find an agreement for the renewal. The challenge of the Champions League gives great enthusiasm and the club intends to give the right value to the best 10 in the league.

You can't say that Liverpool haven't invested wisely lately. We just chuck money about with no knowledge as to if that player will fit the team or has the mentality.

The club still have to pay whatever they owe them in wages up to the end of the contract, right?

So what is the upside for the club?
I could be wide of the mark here but the club would save money. If a player earns £30 million before tax, 20m after tax, pay him off 20m and the club has saved 10m. Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

24 transfer tweets since I last checked and none of them in any way positive for United.

Can we just skip the next month please.

Players must be back pre season next week. Be nice to see 1 or 2 deals being done to allow them to gel with rest of squad for the 3/4 weeks before our first game and I'm sure Ole would want that as well. Not looking good at the moment.
