We all laughed at the Mikhitaryan swap, but Arsenal actually got the better of that deal. Mikhi would be a starter for us on the right, and then a decent option once we would upgrade. Sanchez is just a giant wage sink who is done at the top. Hindsight eh...
Mkhitaryan wasn't good enough either. At no point in the last 18 months have I thought ooh we miss mkhitaryan.
He's been better for Arsenal than Sanchez has been for us but thats not saying much.

After so many were so quick to say they were showing how a rebuild should be done etc. Nothing about their window impressed me more than our first window under LVG where we brought in similar types of players on paper.
Always maintained that until they had a good season, there's nothing much to separate what they're doing now with what we did, only we have hindsight to know outs didn't work out so we now treat it as a bad window. Bringing in lots of players and spending money doesn't guarantee anything.
For some reason, people like to get upset about what other clubs are doing (City, Liverpool, Madrid, PSG, Barcelona etc) in the transfer market but whenever we go toe to toe with them we always end up worse off.
Meanwhile, for the first time in a long while, we've recruited players that actually want to be here while the rest of Europe seem to be picking up players who desperately don't want to be at their current clubs.
We should really fire Ed and find a CEO who can make good football decisions as well as financial decisions like Levy. Now that I think about it, probably cheaper to just hire Levy and all of the Spurs scouting team than to flush all that cash down the drain with Ed in-charge.
Levy won't be the single point of all failure and success at Spurs just like Ed isn't with us. I've no issue really with him as CEO I think it's the structure beneath him that needs work and his job will likely depend on how that goes over the next couple of years.
These guys won't sit in an office in some ivory tower and make every decision themselves. Like any other CEO their time with a business will be heavily influenced by those who report into them.
As we aren't particularly privy to the behind the scenes going on at big football clubs though, we just blame who we know. A bit like the Prime Minister getting the finger pointed at them for absolutely everything, regardless of of they directly make the decision etc. Simply swapping Ed for Levy probably wouldn't instantly change a great deal. Its whether Levy would start to make structural changes to other positions that is something more worth discussing.
Mikhi has been awful as well, arsenal fans want him gone.

Let's be honest. Every transfer is a gamble. The Sanchez gamble had a bigger potential payout, so it was worth the swap. Neither gamble has actually paid out, of course.
Mkhi wouldn't be on the same wage as Sanchez so it was definitely a bad swap.

Biggest mistake were his insane high wages.
Transfer fee (part exchange with Mikhi) isn't that bad.
But the high wages mean also that it s difficult to get rid of him. Most probably we ll loan him out paying a substantial part of his wage.

It's only the salary that sets him apart from other high profile failures. Shevchenko at Chelsea was just as bad, but don't think his wages were as obscene as Sanchez's

Tbh, not one party has come out looking good in this deal. Both players look shite and both clubs probably regret the deal. You could say mihki has marginally been better for Arsenal than Sanchez for united, but from an arsenal perspective he's a massive downgrade to the Sanchez they had.
Literally no one won in this deal. No one.

@Bill.s.preston already said it but the true winner of that deal was only Alexis because of those juicy wages. Mkhitarian has been just as uesless for Arsenal and their fans say the same things about him that we do about Alexis. It's quite shocking how things have turned out considering when we made that deal we all thought we had just pulled off the deal of the decade.

Such conflicting views. almost makes Sanchez sound bipolar. As for his best friend leaving the club, he's partly responsible for that. He's on huge wages and doing absolutely squat for the club.

I'm sure I've seen loads of pics of Alexis and Rom hanging out as well and that's just from occasionally checking the MEN live feed.
Well then that's two of his friends that are out of the club. Would make sense to move on as well perhaps to the Italian league where he would get more time on the ball. I think the PL is too quick for Sanchez at the moment. You can tell especially when he takes that extra touch on the ball and he's no longer adventurous and his productivity to risk taking ability is low as well. He should join Lukaku at Inter on loan.
