We will probably aim for Dembele/Coutinho or even Bale/Dybala right now and end up with either Mandzukic or Rebic.

Well that does happen when your contract is up, so it's not feasible...it's just 1/3 of the final equation for Matic: resigns, doesn't resign/released, transferred in Jan window.
The only issue is that it means United must sign another central midfielder on top of not signing a replacement for Herrera and Fellaini...in addition to addressing a SS/#10/in the hole position and right forward. Unless United go for total youth, which would be naive.
