Yeah I bet dybala thought I cant go to a team who only won 19 I must go to a team that won 23 games and lost nearly half of their games. The pull is more to do with london and then scraping the champs league. If we had scraped it he may well be coming here.

The majority of London is a shithole anyway...obviously not the parts he'll be living in, but outside of that, it's fecking shite...

Late equaliser in a 1-1 draw more like, followed by a loss away at Wolves

It is going to be a long season, already dreading it

I've gone for 2-2 and then a loss to Wolves.

Are we realists or pessimists? The Caf will decide.

Realists

We never give Chelsea a tonking even though they are currently there for the taking

Wolves bested us every time last season, have a better manager, raucous home crowd and a squad that is far better balanced

Maybe. I don't have my crystal ball with me. But I doubt he dreamed of playing for Spurs as well, Spurs unlike us wanted to make a deal happen. We didn't.
So then I don't understand your response? Woodward's brief was we didn't want to spend all that money on a player who doesn't really want to play for us. Which you seemingly both believe and don't believe at the same time.

Honestly can't believe how many of you are mad about signings, or the lack of whatever the number of signings you wished for.

We got what we needed.

One of the best right backs in the league.

One of the best centerbacks in the league.

A young prospect who just might come through as a right or left wing.

We'll probably see more of our youth players then in the last season.

We kept Pogba.

We're gonna sell what we don't need - aka Lukaku and Rojo.

We have 4 CF you know.

What's with all the doom and gloom?!

You'd think this is not a Utd supporting forum reading all the moaning.. feck, have some faith!

If Levy get the Dybala deal over the line with Juve paying a share, Woodward will have been utterly exposed for the 2bit amateur he is. Wish he could stick to his day job and get us a proper DOF to handle the sporting affairs.
What would exactly a DoF solve in this deal? This is about financial negotiations, not identifying the players or whatever...

Ok I’m going back to work now and I’m not going to check this thread for a few hours because clearly nothing is happening and I’m not interested anymore!

The fact our midfield is pretty shite on paper is pretty worrying.

A good DOF does the financial negotiations, the CEO simply sets a budget and signs off exceptions

How does him joining Spurs chime with that exactly? And these "burned in the past" transfers will probably prevent us from signing a CDM better than Matic for the next 10 years? It chimes perfectly with low net spend on the other hand.

He would have joined us if we had paid the exorbitant fees they're demanding. He's being forced out by Juve against his will - which equates to signing a top earner with questionable motivation.

We got what we needed at the back and that's it. Stop being a top red and feck up, been a bad window for a team that finished 6th.

We had a clear philosophy under LVG, you might not have liked it but it has been explained and adopted by LVG throughout his career.
Can you please explain our current philosophy?
I thought it was clear for this year as well, since a long time. High press, starting from the forward players, counter pressing, construction from the back line to move the ball forward but when opportunities to move quickly up are identified, we move the ball quickly.

No we didn't. We lost 2 midfielders and didn't replace them. We lost one of our highest goalscorers over the past 2 seasons and didn't replace his goals.
Also Pogba doesn't want to be here, we saw how that worked out last season

We did half the job, we improved the defence, but weakened our midfield and attack.

Isn't deadline at 5? I can't see us do anything today. Such a waste of a window..

Yes it is. Especially for a club legend. But I can see a lot more of that in coming months sadly.

He's a playing legend and that has blinded sound decision making

It is a shocking appointment when viewed objectively and pushes us further down into the mire

This part is interesting. There was obviously willingness from Spurs to do a deal and find a solution. Woodward on the other hand didn't and preferred only money for Lukaku.
Could have something to do with the fact that Woodward is an incompetent moron who was told he needed to pay £80m for Maguire in May and managed to negotiate the price all the way down to £80m in August. The contrast in the way the two clubs are run is night and day because Levy is actually good at his job and Woodward is a total idiot.

I'd say lots of 0-0s, didn't we just improve our defence or does that not count because we didn't sign a attacking midfielder?

We have literally got no midfield though. You think Matic and co will protect the back four. Doesn't matter how good your back four is if it's consistently under siege.

The fact our midfield is pretty shite on paper is pretty worrying.
Is it really?

We have Matic, Pogba, Fred, Mctominay, Andreas
Mata, Lingard, Gomes, Garner?

All Mctominay, Fred and Andreas will be better than last year, Gomes and Garner will suprise us and should be fine. A lot of you being so sensitive towards midfield, imo it's the depth to full backs which is a worry. If we sell Darmian somehow, Ashley Young will be only decent back up option there, in a 60+ game season.

You just proved it is shite

I agree.

Realists it is then!

The season will be long for sure and then we have another summer window to look forward to whilst probably being an even less attractive proposition than we are now.

Money. We'll get it right .. at some point. Spurs, unless they get a sugar daddy, are not in the same league.

What ambition is spurs going to fulfil? Do you really think they are going to win anything? They'll probably finish in the top 4.. great.

Hate this arrogance our fans have. Open your eyes to what’s happening in the now. Current players done give a shite about history. If we’re not careful we’ll be the English version of Milan. Spurs are by far more attractive to a foreign player approaching his prime.

What about the youngsters? if we buy we can simple sell or release Greenwood and gomes

As you point out, perhaps it need to be more than just financial negotiations. As evident by the current development.

You mean good midfielders...right?

Last season we didn't get dicked without ander and with a shit back 4 bar Everton, as I said lots of 0-0s rather than begin smashed.
