They will make a profit for this financial year they will pay 85m for Lukaku and receive 85m. However Lukaku fee will be amortised over the course of his contract, and Dybala asset worth has gone up since he has been there a while and they only paid around 40m euros for him (or even less)

Thanks for making sense of this. I thought it would be some accounting terms with players valued as assets on the books etc. This isn’t probably also why there will be two transfer transactions. Plus out asset of Lukaku wouldn’t depreciate from the sale.

@Halal Jalal

That last tweet just screams do not want to me now.

I couldn't care less what his dream was so long as he plays for the shirt when he is here and is a success. If he is then courted by Barca and we sell him for a world-record fee in 3/4 years time, then Greenwood would be ready by then to be our first choice!

IF Dybala says no, leaves us and Lukaku in no mans land. Especially when we have another no man in Sanchez. I hope we are still pushing Bruno through otherwise that door will slam shut and leave us with Martial, Rashford, Greenwood

Yeah, I'm sure Juventus will let the talks with Sarri to "go well" when they have already agreed to sell him & have agreed personal terms with Lukaku as well.

We'll sell Lukaku to Inter then.

Why? Because he, like pretty much everyone especially from south america dreamed to play for Real Madrid or Barca?

I don't have a problem with him wanting Real and Barcelona later in his career if he was say 21/22. But he's 25.5 and if he has one or two good season guarunteed hel try and move there if they show a whiff of interest, which just isn't sustainable long term planning.

All the reports are consistent in suggesting he's not overly keen on us just yet and either he wants PSG or he wants to stay at Juve or he dreams of Real and Barca.

It's also more because I know there's someone like Bruno available who can be just a good in similar positions too. If we lacked options and really needed that quality then fair enough. But we have choices it seems and as much as I'd love Dybala and Bruno it just feels unlikely we will land both.

Right. But he still creates and scores goals right? That's what we miss coming from midfield

Well I don’t know what you want because you said 10. He does do all that but from a lot further back than your expecting.

Sarri's hands are tied anyway, the club have decided.

I have sympathy for the guy.

Imagine yourself playing for United or another huge club you have massive respect for, then coming back from your holidays and being told you have to leave. You have to leave now and you have to go to this specific club that you feel no affiliation with. Oh this club you feel no affiliation to are underperforming and play in the Europa. Oh and they play in a league that you've never really had a desire to play in, and (maybe) are located in a part of the world that you don't particularly want to live in. No time to find another club either and just to be clear, we don't want you.

That's a lot to take in irrespective of the money on offer.

Isn't Bruno a similar age? They same could also happen with him.

Bruno reportedly wants to come to the Premier League and appears to be more than ready to come to us. It's a different circumstance all together. He's not being booted out and he's not trying to work every avenue before actually looking at us.

Or we can finally start playing good football and win something relevant so maybe they won't want to leave. Now if you offer any of our player to go to Barca/Real, I don't think many would stay apart from the ones who feel like they won a lottery like Lingard, Jones, Rojo etc.

We shouldn’t need to beg a player to join us. Especially one costing nearly £100m and asking for a serious wage.

This is very true. Plus he was the main man there and a massive fan favourite until CR7 came along, now he probably feels like yesterday’s toy.
Hopefully we can give him some love and recognition and he will perform for us

South Americans tend to have a dream to go to Real or Barcelona though. If he stayed in Manchester and won its still a big jump in assumption to think he'd enjoy his lifestyle here compared to Spain where hes reported to dream of playing.

I don't think it that's much different, it's just reports at the end of the day and all if's. You never know how things will go.

I made my peace with some top players eventually wanting to move on Barcelona and Real a while ago. So long as they play well for and get themselves into a position where they want to spend big on them then I don't begrudge them the move.

Rashford has been repeatedly linked with Barcelona and he's from Manchester.

There are quite a few South Americans at the other side of the city and they seem to be just fine. We should not assume everyone is like Di Maria.

If all that is true then we should just walk away. He's being railroaded into signing for us, it won't end well. I hoped he had enough respect for us to be at least a destination worth considering, but not under these circumstances.

What else is he going to do. Someone else will just get him with those same feelings. They don’t want him.

This fecking Barca and Real talk grinds my gears.
He is South American. His family probably supports one of them and he likely watched them all the time as a kid, it's completely normal.

It doesn't mean he won't perform if he does come here though. Do you think Silva & Agüero dreamed of playing for City?

Stay at Juve? I think if it was PSG, Barca or Real he'd have had his bags packed right now and would be buzzing about how lucky he is.

If we had Champs League it would be the same for us. If you understand that our lack of ambition for a couple years makes ‘top’ players question coming here. Comments like his don’t hit as hard.

Those South Americans play for a club consistently challenging for every major trophy under an adored manager of their generation. Its a different sell to us who right now, just have the statute of our history and an exciting rebuild project to sell (which becomes tricker to sell when you start again every 2 years for the last 7)
