Man if thats really the case then feck him. Him and Pogba together will stink the place up.

Its obviously not. That hash blokr has about 5 tweets all with total crap in them. Much more reliable journos say his agent is in england, that woulfn't br the case if he had no interest.

I actually think especially longer term, Tuanzabe is the best option as a partner for Maguire and our best defences have always been about partnerships. Forgetting the money, my worry about buying Maguire is though of coruse he is a huge improvement....I fear Maguire/Lindelof really isnt a good partnership at the back at all, think taking away the physical attributes of Maguire they are actually similar players and it just wouldnt work

There are so many better options to look at between £90m Maguire and 9 game a season Umtiti.

Like, all of them.

Hopefully if Dybala really has no interest after listening to our offer, it is made clear immediately.

Fecking saga is not required.

If he's not interested so be it, we'll take the cash.

Yeah, i don't get a warm and fuzzy feeling with this transfer.

Initially reaction is no go if he doesn't want to come.

I don't believe for one minute, if he wasn't even interested in a move, that his agent would even be in London in that case. If he really isn't bothered in the slightest about joining us, his side would have just told us no thanks in the first place. It's not like he is going to get a new contract or anything so I believe there is definitely legs in this.

Keep the faith Muppets! Bumps in the road were to be expected.

Makes sense. His agent brother could easily call and listen to offers before going to London. I tend to think he's probably not exuberant about the idea but not opposed to getting paid over sitting on the bench in Italy.
Also, Ole stated if Lukaku was sold, he would be replaced. Not a direct replacement by any means but he would do more for us than arm puppet did in his time here.

I'm not losing my shit either way. If it came down to it, I'd be more upset if we didn't sign a CB and a MF this window. Even with our limited goals, if we can keep the other teams from scoring, we have a better chance of winning. Otherwise we go into every match with one game plan.

Why can't Maguire and Lindelof work?

Value wise I definately agree, Maguire is a good option (not a godo partner for Lindelof I feel though). Think there are a good 4/5 defenders straight away we could be moving on to who would be better value for money, a better partner for Lindelof as it seems we are insisting on him being the second centre back (I dont but my thoughts irrelevant) and are better defenders.

Only one of the names I see bandied about I dont rate much at all ironcally is Lindelofs replacement Dias at Benfica, only seen 4/5 games but dont think much of him from what I have seen

Why can't Maguire and Lindelof work?

In all honesty its a gut feeling, but I think they are similar, neither are great at tracking runs or turning sharply round corners. I just picture quick nimble teams like CIty with the likes of Aguero running rings around them around the box akin to the way Stoichkov and Romario did to us many years ago. Would be a good partnership in terms of bringing the ball out and obviously much better with Maguire for defending crosses and corners but our good partnerships have always consisted of contrasting defenders Pallister/Bruce Rio/Vidic Stam/JOhnsen. A rock and a quick defender and one of the two very good on the ball/ Maguire and Lindelof both seem kind of inbetween the two and neither are quick. Just my opinion and I dont rate Lindelof anywhere near the player many seem to think he is on here either and adding a very good but not great defender who also conflicts with him in Maguire, although improved of coruse, dont think it solves the craving centre back fiasco we have had for several years now

Ole said a week ago that Tuanzebe was the future of Man Utd, so it either a loan or BS.

If he isn't going to play regularly then I think a loan to a Premier league club would be a good move.

Well if Longstaff played 8 games and was worth £50m Tuanzebe must be worth close to £2bn.
They're the same age, but Longstaff has played 688 minutes in the PL whereas Tuanzebe has only played 306 minutes.

Overall, Longstaff has played 66 senior games, to Tuanzebe's 35.

If Longstaff is worth £50m, I'd assume Tuanzebe is worth a similar amount.

Exactly, the only reason I reckon anything has even come of this is because yes, Dybala would like to stay at Juve, but has realised that he is not wanted there. As a result, he has started to have a look about and this swap deal has become a thing because he would be open to the move, hence his brother being in London. It makes sense from an economic standpoint and for the team personnel too so I think there is more than a good chance of this happening.

I honestly still think we will sign a defender and a midfielder too, and I would not be surprised (and over the bloody moon ) to see Dybala come too.

We're getting linked to almost every player, left, right and center. Every day there're 2 or 3 new players linked to us. Can't believe we're interested in all these in just the last 1.5 weeks.

We need defenders who can stay upright, run and walk most of the year. With Bailly and Jones injuries they might as well not be counted. I don't want to see Matic back in defence. I see Axel as one of our 3 defenders. We should not be loaning or selling such an able bodied defender.

I am not taking the piss here this is genuine. How much is it Sarri's decision? How much of it will be Ronaldo's?
Nedved and Paratici make the decisions. Cristiano's opinion will weight far more heavily on it than Sarri's, who really doesn't much matter in terms of transfers, and isn't interested in it either

Exactly. If we do get Maguire a loan will be good for him, but I would be furious if we sold him and held onto some of the injury prone players we have.

We could probably sign Jonathan Tah and Ibrahima Konate for the price of Maguire, two of the best CB talents in Europe. Sell Rojo, Jones and Bailly (the latter will have to wait until January). I guess we could keep Smalling around as backup

Lindelof, Tah, Konate, Tuanzebe. Lovely.

You guys are so emotional. United is just not a very attractive proposition for top players right now, they have to be convinced.

It’s actually a shitty french source that Sky Italia is quoting, nothing to see here.

Lindelof, Smalling, Jones, Rojo. I'd say if we sign someone like Maguire and fail to sell Rojo it would be best to loan Tuanzebe out so he gets more minutes.

Lindelof, Smalling, Injured, Injured?

It's been mentioned a couple of times in this thread already, but surely there have to be other alternatives to slabhead and sicknote out there? Esp if we are willing to part with £70m+? Why must we repeatedly get to this situation every transfer window and be held to ransom?

Thanks that makes sense.

Nothing new. Happens every summer. Journos know whatever transfer story they put up (genuinely real or made up nonsense) that has Utd involved will get plenty of attention compared to someone like a Burnley or Leicester.

Was expecting/hoping for a bit more sound coming out today. Still time, I know.

Really hoping we aren't derailing more pressing concerns with the squad by focusing on Dybala/Lukaku situation though.

Getting in Maguire and Fernandes are far more pressing in my view. Dybala is a great added extra to the squad, Maguire and Fernandes are core to our rebuild.
