we wont be buying him then for that price. Tielemans moved for 40m, while this one is over 50m :wenger:

You know how this works right?

Just because a player moves for so much doesn't mean Newcastle have to price their player less than. They don't wanna sell him they are more than welcome to price him out of a move.

Not saying he is worth that much mind, would be happy if we paid a max £20m

Are we sending bids on the back of tortoises? Or are will literally doing house clearances...

We'll offer you 15 pens, 2 old mattresses, a beaten up side drawer, a few patches of lawn, a couple of plant pots, Young, Jones, Darmian, Rojo and a partiridge in a pair tree. Oh and 2 tickets to see our under 13's!

If Ole is basing his judgement of Longstaff on 9 games then we are truly hopeless when it comes to scouting players.

It should be £15m plus appearance related bonus of £5-8m. Whilst it's obvious that most 5 year olds are better at negotiating than Woodward, if he allows to be taken for a ride by Newcastle for anything more we might as well give up!

I'd love to know how this all works behind the scenes. Why didn't we do this on Monday?

Its all media hype. Most of our targets will already be agreed with the clubs too. They like to add 'drama' compared to how other clubs announce players. The more people talk for united the better it is for the club 'in the clubs eyes not mine' because they love their social media.

I do miss the days where we just randomly surprise the fans with 2/3 signings at once. Remember fondly under LVG we got the Bastian and Morgan in one evening and then Romero 2 days later late at night!

Woodward doesn't negotiate transfers.

And who would have thought that Romero would be far and away the best signing out of the 3

You're judging him based off 9 games.

Ole's scouting staff are judging him off every first team game he's played in the PL as well as on loan, and every youth team match he's been involved in since his mid-teens.

In our opening game of the season, we should come out of the tunnel to "Be Prepared" from The Lion King.

Look forward to the clowns saying we should "Just pay" the 50m because it's "Not my money"

What does "preparing a bid" actually mean? We seem to do a lot of that

You believe all this preparing a bid lark? Honestly think Woodward or whoever's rings up sky and say you know what sky me and the lads are round the boardroom table and we are preparing a bid.

Far more likely united have been enquiring about his price and either Newcastle have leaked it to up the price or someone from the club has got wind of it and leaked it without either sides knowledge.

My thoughts anyway. All this preparing stuff is for the muppets to create drama on twitter.

Yeah, "preparing" a bid is just a bunch of bollocks from clueless journalists.

I can't believe this move is actually turning into a transfer saga, what on earth is this club playing at, while this continues to drag on for some ridiculous reason, Spurs have signed Ndombele and Leicester have signed Tielemans, two players that would have been of more of a benefit to this shambles of a club.

I'm beginning to think it was a massive mistake to target only players we'd have a free run at. It means there is no wider market for them where regular prices apply. Tielemans goes for 40m. Olmo possibly for just North of 20m. But Longstaff is now 50m, I mean, if anyone else was asking, it'd be not even half that.
