I know this is sarcasm but it's not exactly outside the realms of possibility. I'm sensing a 2009 type transfer window here. Sell a world class player (Ronaldo - Pogba). Bring in an efficient right sided player (Valencia - AWB) and get a low-cost speed merchant to boost the squad. (Owen - James). It's quite terrifying how similar the two windows look right now.

Comparing Pogba to Ronaldo is a massive insult to Ronaldo..
Ronaldo was world class for us. Pogba has barely had 10 great games for us. A lot of good ones, but getting that level isnt even close to being world class.

Not a fan generally of the player plus cash scenarios but cash seems virtually meaningless for us in the market. Everyone costs a hundred mil if we're in for them. If there are decent players on offer in a real life scenario, I wouldn't dismiss it out of hand.

I think what he's says and what he feels are two different things. Even if he doesn't name players (unlike Mou) it can have a detrimental impact on confidence. If they can't get a player in we are stuck with a player who we think isn't up to scratch and lower their confidence.
This pretty much happened last year. Mou tried to play hard ball to try and force the club to sign a defender when he said we needed Cbs. You could argue he was right and was proven right but he gambled and it didn't pay off. All of our CBs had a relatively poor season.

There are several dozen teams playing in the top league in each of their respective countries, including around 100 teams across England, Spain, Italy, France and Germany alone. This equates to several hundred CMs. Amongst them will be fair few good and potentially available CMs.
