That's worrying, who the hell are we trying to sign for our midfield, surely not just Longstaff?
Maddison would be a good shout. I think he'd be an ideal signing to kick start our rebuilding cause.

I agree. A deal should have been done years before it runs out, not talks starting a year and a half before. The risk of someone coming in in the last year is too high.

We fecked up. I am sure we thought no top club would come in for him, so it wasnt a priority
Or Jose was telling Ed he’s muck.

Why? Cause they can find players? They are surfing on their CL final stuff. Hopefully. it's not going to last long.

It's not as if United were wholly unaware. On the back of a superb U-21 tournament, he's a hot property. Spurs are playing it correct. When you're a CL finalist, the ball is firmly in your court. You'd be foolish not to recruit heavily in the summer when your reputation is at its highest.

Just the overlap of targets is all. Whether they get them over us is another matter, but their coups are admirable and I wouldn't put it past them to nab potential great players while we stutter on targets.

Be it Eriksen, Sanchez, prime Dembele, or Ndombele.. They seem to get obvious sensible targets done at reasonable prices. And it pays them dividends.

Spurs are doing a Chelsea circa 2004. Just googling our transfer targets and going after them.

No one even considered him before some croatian rag linked him to us, how would this be depressing and annoying?

Spurs are starting to really piss me off right now.

We win the damn thing and are sitting on our hands. They've got no excuses now if they succeed with their targets, I'm getting envious of their powerhouse midfield their building, well with how it looks on paper anyway. Still, be hilarious if they lose again to our infamous average trio of Milner-Henderson-Wijnaldum.

I'm not talking about that Spanish kid I didn't know about until yesterday. It's the lack of both incoming and outgoing transfers. If rumors are true, Ole wanted 4-5 players before starting the preseason. He has 1 first team player and a kid for the future. We need a massive clear out and let 1 player go which we still could have used and thankfully let Valencia go. There is a lot of work to be done imo.

What are we playing at!? We pack attacking options & a league rival is about to sign a talent for a ‘reasonable’ [in the context of today’s transfer market] fee.

I am close to done with this regime, I’ll watch the games, I’ll do my usual 5-10 games at the OT but I’m done caring at this point.

We had so much wrong by the end of last season & we’ve signed a full back & a winger that’s ‘barely’ ready for the first team.

How on earth is this performance from the powers that be acceptable - a key part of Woodward’s job is to buy & sell, what the hell is he playing at waiting all season then suddenly starting i. the summer.

[Wrong thread, I know I’m just absolutely appalled at this & other transfers like it passing us by; if Citeh wanted him we’d be paying €75mil for him.]

They are average, on paper at least. They don't play like average players though. Your manager has done a fantastic job of getting all your players, playing to their strengths, playing for the system, playing for each other and playing as a team. I genuinely don't think it matters who you sign from now on, as long as they fit into this mould. It's the very definition of a team that is greater than the sum of its parts.

Fair enough. Hard to disagree with any of that really. Still over a month to go though and aside from Real, the market has been very slow to pick up in general, not just for us. I think we'll get 2-3 more in.
