I expect the club to complete signings for both Bruno Fernandes and Sean Longstaff before the weeks end. Harry Maguire is a maybe for me, we'll see.
You’re a glass half full kind of guy.
BTW , when does the week end ?

he is, but it shows how little he really cares about competitiveness, ambition, wanting to play the game he supposively loves. Madrid im sure would pay some of his salary to offload him to someone else.

I think you come across as really naive to be honest. I don't mean to sound rude but the real world isn't the little fan fiction that we observers often like to write for ourselves.

Just think about how many things he needs to consider when it comes to a decision like this. His partner, how settled they are, his kids, are they happily settled at school. I could go on and on. Not as simple as you're making out at all.

More briefings today by Woodward. Meanwhile Leicester sign one of the best midfielders in the world for 40m. You just know they've got a Maguire replacement lined up for 20-30m as well.

One of the best midfielders in the world than only Leicester is interested in buying.

feck. Should've been us. A mix of Keane and Matic.

He'll be another Bernardo Silva. Ridiculous that City have been allowed to get players like this so easily. Looks like they'll be spending more than United yet again this summer. Hopefully not.

They are everything we should be. So annoying.

Rodri is a superb signing for City. Guardiola now has a similar player to Busquets.

Football is played in other countries as well.

Right. Name another club in any country that could afford 40m for a midfielder that also needs a midfielder. Spain? Barca and Real are stacked. PSG? Need to get rid of players. Italy? Even the top teams can't afford anyone.

I think Tielemans could well be there in a couple years if he continues to develop. But to already call him that is a bit premature, don’t you think? Maybe one of the best midfield talents in the world?

But yeah, can easily see another situation where his value skyrockets due to his form and Leicester demand £100m+ in a few years from those interested.

We'll see how he develops. But my point was that we're apparently spending 30m on Longstaff, and we're okay to see how he develops. Why not spend 40 on a guy who is proven in the league, has played internationally and is only a year older? I just don't understand anything about our transfer policy, and the fact that Leicester and teams like that complete these deals so easily is baffling.

A lot of clubs will pay 40mil for "one of the best midfielders in the world". Fact of the matter is that he is far from being one of the best.

Do you not know the repercussions of missing out on CL?

Considering we have had our best window in a decade outside the top four with Pogba and co coming you might have to redefine repercussions. Additionally Tielemans another number 6 target who would walk into our midfield seemingly disinterested. It's a disgrace there's no excuses.

Wish it worked like that when missing out on CL appeared to be an anomaly and we supposedly had an elite manager.

It's not the case now.

Reckon Atletico would be smart to try and sign Bale on a two year loan deal from Madrid (with Madrid paying most o his wages).

The post highlights midfielders not a singular player. The underlying concensus of your post is the exact issue raising cause for concern.
Ok so what other midfielders have we missed out on? Recent reports from good journos suggest that Longstaff and Fernandes are our top two midfield targets with Saul also being an option. None of those players have moved to other teams. We can't buy every midfielder who is on the market.

Rabiot (free), Ndombele (52 m), Tielemans (40m), Rodri (70m) and likely how the window is going there will be more added to that list. Every single of those individuals will walk into the starting eleven.

Longstaff has under 20 appearances as a professional at the top level, we needed midfielders when Herrera was here now he's gone we need to replace him. Longstaff is not an adequate replacement for any of the calibre of central players we need. Fernandes is not a central midfielder, In a system where Solskjaer has played three central midfielders and a double pivot system tactically it doesn't make sense and no credible source has reported our interest in Fernandes.

If Saul (with a 134 million release clause) is a credible option then the club must have changed owners in the last 24 hours because you can be certain we will not pay that money for anyone. Again no credible sources that have declared our interest.

Agreed. We needed significant reinforcement when Herrera was here. Now we need 100m more investment in the midfield. And that's if Pogba stays. Man, if Pogba goes we'd need to spend 200m on our midfield alone. And yet Spurs and Leicester have just found two absolute bargains for their teams. Again - who is doing the scouting at our club? And what strategy are we using? For the life of me, I don't understand.
