It'll be interesting to see how Lo Celso links up with Bruno Fernandes, Longstaff, Tielemans, Rabiot, Ndombele and the countless other midfielders we've been linked to this week.

I personally look forward to Longstaff McTominay and Matic becoming a midfield powerhouse.

This is just screaming "give us £50m and waive the clause for Zaha".

If thats the case I think itll happen. The potential money from a sale of Zaha doesn't exist on any balance sheet anywhere, so from an accounting point of view it's a straight £50m deal.

So when Zaha gets sold for 120m then AWB would have cost us 74m, it wont happen.

No, he wouldn't.. Not from an accounting or business perspective, because the potential % from the sale of Zaha doesn't exist on Utds books.

You can't lose what you never had.

Besides, they're never getting 120m for Zaha, come on!

In accounting terms yeah, but the average paper and football fan will know, that's what he would have cost, you can argue against that fact as much as you want.

And it depends, they're asking for 70m for an ultra defensive right back who has had one season in senior football, transfer prices are getting crazy, and not looking like slowing down any time soon, 120m for Zaha could actually happen.

We've already offered £40m.

Whata to be gained from the % on Zaha isn't actual real money at this point, and even if it means we miss out on £15m or so at some point down the road, its never actually existed as income on our books so doesn't represent a loss to the club.

I expect it's exactly what will happen, if its what CP are looking for.

Might have something to do with where they got the fantasy figure of £70M from.

This is stupid.
90m for Maguire , 70m for AWB..

Football has gone crazy and I want no part of it.

Last season was our worst defensive performance in decades. Our scouting system should be able to pick freebies that would perform better than Young at RB.

If the best they can do is come up a list this short, they all need to go.
If we have more players on the list, then look elsewhere.

And no .. Varane, Koulibaly isnt a scouting list... I can come up with that sitting in my chair at home.

We need players in half the positions on the pitch.. Get quality where we can. Get stop gap where we cant..

If we are even considering paying ~150m for Maguire and AWB, then the club is run by mugs.. but we already know that.

Truer words were never more wisely spoken, many football fans are slowly falling out of love with the once beautiful game, with unproven young players demanding £300k per week, Agents wanting £15M per transfer and clubs wanting £70-100M for players who have done nothing in the game.

At some point probably when the next TV deal is negotiated the bubble will finally start to burst, or a new CL format will reduce the attraction of the mid range teams like West Ham, Leicester, Wolves, Watford, Newcastle and Everton to be able to pay £50M per player and not bad an eyelid.

Alternatively of course, the PL could soon support Newcastle, City, United and Leeds all run by oil rich states using the PL as a personal playground for political ambition. The big Six might become a genuine big 10 and European superclubs might have to endure Champions League, Europa League and European Super Cup all being contested by EPL teams season after season!

And who do you think it is that decides the terms of the financial deals the club agree to?

CP could get 120m for Zaha, or they could keep him, and he ends up doing his cruciate next season.. The % sell on is worth nothing until it lands in Utds bank account, until then its of zero actual value.

Its a massive coincidence isn't it!

This is what happens when you go down the good old British route! Over inflated prices. We should just go out and sign Pepe and Milenkovic, and that be the end of it. Play Dalot as right back! We probably have a limited budget anyway, something our transfer committee never took into consideration when publicly saying we we need young hungry players! It kind of reminds me when we signed Jones and Smalling this transfer window! Longstaff for 25 million, Played only 13 games. Wan Bissaka, 50 million, one decent season, is this club that stupid?
Liverpool signed Robertson for 8 million, let that sink in!
If you want to buy English/welsh players for reasonable prices you have to shop in the championship, before players are established names.

I literally just agreed with you? But I said the average football fan wouldn't see it like that? If Zaha does get sold (he will, he wont be a lifer) then that fee will be added onto AWB just like all our transfers are woth addons according to the media, just like Martial cost us 60+m when in fact he cost about 42m.

I honestly couldn't give a crap what he costs, just saying what the figure will be perceived as, in my opinion United wont give up any option on Zaha, it's just the papers writing something about us to get clicks.

The same goes for the amount of CB’s we’ve been linked with too.

I can't wait to see them all stacked on top of each other like a giant totem pole. What an intimidating midfield that will be.

Should do anyway. I always thought the sell on clause for Zaha was a bit snarky from our perspective. I mean, we bought him for practically nothing. Didn’t play him. Then sold him back because he was deemed not good enough. Business is business I guess.

Yeah, I agree, but who cares about that bollocks?

We'll pay what comes out of our accounts.

Its no coincide that reports say Palace want 50m for him, and that we now have reports saying they want 75m - 50 + the absolute max the % on Zaha might cost them.

The % doesn't actually exist in real terms for Utd, so, as I've said, if thats what they're after I can see it happening - might be a bit less than 50m cash though.

When has that ever worked for us? Not that we have done it much! Nick Powell and Dion Dublin Springs to mind. Dan James could be hit or miss, not guaranteed at all!

What would it be booked under in United's books? Extraordinary income?

Nick Powell was from league one or two not the championship. The premier league has changed. Clubs at the lower end of the division needed the money in the past, but now there's so much money in the premier League thats not the case any more. If you want quality domestic players for sensible prices then you need to do what teams ike Leicester do and recruit from the next division down. Look at James Maddison: championship player of the season last year, Leicester buy him for 25m and now they're quoting 60m+ for him. That's where the value is now.

Yeah, these days it's near impossible to sign from mid-table PL teams, it's better to sign them before these clubs sign them.

The deal got complicated. United rejected direct swap with Icardi and want not a euro less than 80m euros and the last meeting did not go well. It's very difficult, but Inter is still working on it. Conte made it clear to the board that Lukaku his number one on the list. United seemed more sharp and and very tough in the negotiations because of Lukaku's comments to the media "to force the club to sell him".

sorry for the rough translation :D

I honestly wouldnt mind Lukaku staying.. I think he'll perform better if we, as a team, attack better.. and I think he is the best striker we have at the club.. We should get in a top replacement before we even consider selling him.

Hope we just string Inter along and tell them to feck off.

Different kettle of fish going from the championship to leicester as supposed going to utd from the championship. But, by the sounds of it, thats we aspire to be now, Leicester fecking city. At least Moyes aspired to be City!
Since when did this club just down tools from being a title challenger? If you want to rebuild and be a top club, you do it the City or Real way. Not this bull crap of signing good players that will get us in the same position in the league again, or maybe even worse!
This transfer strategy won't work like it did under SAF, cause Utd had 5-6 world class players that were winning things already to compliment youth!

I think it's important to spend all our money before selling. Imagine if we sold Lukaku for 80, Pogba for 150 and De Gea for 70. How much do you think CP would want for WB knowing we have £300M in the bank from player sales?

Get the targets in ASAP then spend the rest of the window selling players who want to leave or we no longer need.

Jose signed big name proven players. It failed. Ole has sold Fellaini and bought James, somehow he’s being judged on basically zero signings and it’s all going to fail. Can’t people give him a chance or we after blood already and want him gone, so we can carry on the whole merry go round shite.

Conte wants “only” Lukaku. I think Inter will meet the £80m demand, no way Inter will disappoint their new manager. At the same time, it’ll push away Inter from signing Bruno.

dont take my translation for granted, Conte made him the number one on the list. I change the translation :D

You’re not understanding how accounting works. Which is his point.

I understood @Eyepopper point perfectly, and I agreed with him, just saying that's not how everyone else would view it if Zaha ever gets sold? I just counted the fact out that it would become a stick to beat United with just like Sanchez's "500k" a week wage.

The only big name player Jose signed that failed was Sanchez, and that's only because of our dire defensive tactics! The rest he threw under a bus! Confidence and all!
Don't want him gone, just see him a bit unrealistic in his transfer approach! I'm all for watching a young exciting team, but it also needs quality in there too. Especially with Ole as manager

Good translation. Thanks.
So Lukaku's made it worse by opening his mouth:D
