I love the way fans who know nothing think it’s all like FManager.

Couldn't care less how much it cost if they are who we want.So overpriced average British players it is. Imagine spending 130 to 150 mill on Maguire and AWB
If it's De Gea going the other way and us paying £30m I'd be fine. But I really want to see the bulk of our money spent on outfield players.Would mean we're shipping De Gea out, possibly back to Atletico where he came from. Oblak is a a big all round improvement based on current state of things.
It will be soo typical of us these days to sign these two overhyped players for 130m. When we could sign Cancelo (45m) and Alderweirald (25m) for a combined 70m. Both of these two players are better on the ball, plus we could also fill several other holes in the squad, and sign Van de beek (35m) and Ziyech for another 30m (total spent 130m). This will result in us signing 4 players instead of 2 and a far better and balanced squad than shelling out 130m for these two.
Plus the biggest problem i see with them is we will be paying a premium on players with either very obvious weeknesses. Maguire is prone to lack of pace, whereas AWB is average going forward.

Yeah. Almost smacks of the Sanchez debacle. Both clubs in, United pay a fortune to realize it was a terrible signing. I think he'd be decent but hoping we'd get a more well-rounded defender with some ball playing skills.
Way too much sense in one post. Make this dude (or girl) the DOFIt will be soo typical of us these days to sign these two overhyped players for 130m. I can bet Pep would never sign AWB due to his shortcomings going forward and him being technically very average, then when our defenders will be punting foward when pressed against any decent opposition, then they will again be blaming Ole for not having game plan etc.
We need technically sound players who can avoid press and for those players i dont mind us paying premium. For example i won't bat an eyelid if we spend 100m on De Ligt or another 100m on De Jong, as you can actually see their supreme technical ability along with the potential to be world class in next 2 years.

If Hazard is moving for £30m, I’dI mean when Fergie said there’s no value in the market when Eden Hazard is moving for £30m you could argue with him. I couldn’t blame us for not signing Maguire if they’re asking for £75m. Utterly ridiculous.

It's funny - if Ed bothered splashing the cash last season in defense he wouldn't be fleeced as much this year.

We’d just be replacing more Mourinho flops.

Wonder why we aren’t in for him
Fergie didn’t want to pay the £6m agent fee. Also turned down Aguero for £52m a year before City got him.
One can argue that fergie wasn’t adapting with how football was evolving.

If I could earn 4x my current wage by changing employer I wouldn’t give a feck about gratitude. But that’s me.

To the crazy economics yes and in terms of the power of agents. I think he did stop adapting towards the end. That had always been a strength for him previously.
I agree, football has always progressively inflated with time it was outrageous for us to spend 30 million on a teenager in Rooney previously. Numerous years later 70 million will get you a competent defender, it's not as bad as it sounds from an objective perspective.
If every premier league team is essentially strapped for cash due to TV rights / sponsorship why has our club's financial resources not escalated to a higher feat ? We can't boast about financial resources and fold when it matters (Sancho, Maguire) clearly it's due to the Glazer's.
Not in my opinion. He refused to bow down to silly agent fees because it would set a precedent that we're there to get fleeced. He was ahead of the game in minimizing social media use for players around the club because he knew what a big distraction it would cause.
Take Raiola - does Pep like to deal with him? Are Barcelona reportedly succumbing to agent fees? Do you see Klopp + Liverpool's efficient structure, or Bayern's structure bowing down to the same?
Definately for another thread but whatever Fergie did, he did it because he knew where the market was turning and you don't want to get into a vicious circle.
City regularly top the agent fees list. Liverpool topped it last year. Bayern are falling behind and Barca simply can’t afford big money on De Ligt.
Our destiny would have been greatly different if we had landed Aguero and Hazard.
Probably still is. You live to what you earn and all that.At your level it'd be life changing though.
At Maguire's level, not anywhere near as much.
Liverpool bought shed loads of players - they'd top it by default of such a large turnover.
They spent more than City and United combined. The idea that they’re not paying agents big fees is wrong.
They brought in more players, so they'd pay more agent fees. Hardly a point to make is it? We are known for bending over for paying over the odds, and selling at fraction of true value. Look at the agent fees we paid Raiola I wouldn't be surprised if our agent fees in bringing Pogba in topped everything Liverpool did last year.
They’ve paid more than us in 3 of the past 5 seasons.
Totals over 5 years
Liverpool - £105.35m
United - £81.88m
Ed preparing the shit out of that bidI hope we monitor the Sh*t out of him
