It’d be the type of smart signing they’ve been making in the last few years. He’s probably the closest winger to Salah/Mane in terms of personnel. Klopp will probably push him up a level too so the miss wouldn’t be *that* bad should one of the two go.

Fact he predominantly plays on the right is a big plus too. Would love us to grab him.

I really hope the signing of James isn't going to mean we aren't in for a right winger. A right wing signing is an absolute must. I'll have an aneurysm if I see Juan Mata lining up on the right for the 6th season in a row.

It's probably the one we should be making IMO

Lukaku now wanted by Napoli. Could we use him in a deal for Koulibaly, or 1 of their defensive Midfielders Ruiz, or Diawara.

Think we should all give Dan James a chance to prove the doubters wrong wherever we decide to play him.

I think the reaction to his signing is a little flat because it feels like our hopes of signing a top CB have faded over the last day or so.

Fabian Ruiz would be an excellent signing for us. Great passer and can play a number of midfield roles.

Allan would be a big Herrera upgrade.

I vaguely recall someone on MUTV describing him as the next Sergio Ramos. I think it was Bojan Djordjic.
You mean regular Manchester United FC charity legend. A player so enamoured with the United faithful that he amassed a staggering 1 professional performance for the club.
That Bojan Djordjic ?

Honigstein never had any fresh info on anything. Never had and never will.

It's flat because a signing left winger is not what we need. CB, RB, RW & DM should be the 4 targets if we are only sign 3 or 4 players. I have nothing against Daniel James but we need resolutions to our first 11 not the squad.

It's not possible to sign all your Summer targets in order of preference. This was probably just the most straightforward one to get done.

My point is we are only going to sign 3-4 players. James is likely to be one of those players. How is signing a 21 year old left winger from the Championship going to make us improve from last season? Surely you can see that. We have so many gaps in our first 11 even before the squad. I could appreciate if his natural position was RW but he isn't so the signing in my eye is wasting money unless they sell Martial or Sanchez.

Obviously the sad loss of his father delayed it but if 3 weeks is straight forward for us and we only have 3.5 weeks left until pre season, I'm not very confident Ole gets his players signed for pre season like he said he wanted.

Nah. This is a "bonus" signing a risk taken with not much to lose to see how it plays out. I would very much doubt it affects whoever else they are trying to bring in.
