But who decided that market price? And what price would he be worth now after his worst season and the general ridicule and memes of him for the past season?

Market price is the willing price between buyers and sellers. At that time both us and Chelsea were ready to offer the same if I remember correctly. We just got there first and tied him down before Chelsea matched us.

Today? Not sure. It's down to a lot of things. Im not sure of Inter finances, but I think they have the money but are restricted by FFP? Not sure. In any case even if they didn't, we should try a part exchange deal. Skriniar, Niangolan or Icardi if he gets rid of his Mrs

Inter are willing to go as high as £50m, Ed apparently wants closer to the £75m we paid

Probably paper bullshit but this is reason number 400 why you need someone in football making that decision. Everyone on here can see that we're not recouping 75m for him. You acknowledge his shortcomings, accept we overpaid and attempt to use 50m for an alternative

Tbf In a world where Kyle Walker costs £50m and unproven young talents cost 40/50m minimum I’d be disappointed with £50m from Inter. Didn’t they ask for £40m for Perisic last year the bastards. They need to cough up.

I can understand this if he was in high demand, which he may be during this window, but I do not think he is worth keeping on his high wage, his flirting with leaving and the fact he pretty much stinks as a player. Unless he is actually scoring he is pretty much useless and is not the type of CF I believe we need to take this side forward. Yes 25m is a shit tonne of money but I think it wouldn't be a big loss in the long term if we improve on the pitch.

Yes if we could take players it would be better, I like the players you have mentioned but if it was a straight 50m or we have to keep him. I would prefer the money, we do not need such a limited footballer leading our line when we are a very average team these days.

If it was easy to find 20 goal a season strikers we wouldn't have paid £75m+ in the first place. £50m would be laughable considering what we pay for others.

Why no one wants Matteo Politano from them? he is better, no?

Wait are people really criticising Woodward for selling or trying to sell at Lukaku at a good price?

The latter I'd say. Asking for too much then he's worth and they won't pay, will lead to united keeping him for another year and waste more chances with his pointing. Same with darmian, hes worth 5-8m and he's still here because they keeping upping the price. Just get rid, not for pennies but a reasonable price. This is not the right summer to take a risk like that.

Why are we still believing Castles? Didn’t he say that we have agreed a deal to sign Dybala? What happened to that baldy?

No he didn't. It was Ian McGarry who said that and not Castles.

He blocked me on Twitter for calling him baldy, he's never got anything right for us and just rehash other tweets.

He was first to report Dalot last summer and Ander leaving this summer and looks to have been correct about the standoff between United and De Gea. He's probably just a bit sensitive about looking like an egg.

No one is going to pay that price and we're going to be stuck with Lukaku. Just like Darmian and Rojo

Lukaku is generally bankable to get 20 goals a season (bar last seasons writeoff). That doesn't really disappear, he's would prob get an extra 5-10 in Serie A under Contes management. Plus he's what, 26?

Besides its May. No one knows how much anyone is really willing to offer this window at this stage. It's all posturing by clubs at the moment.

Conte is set to ask his new employers to sign Lukaku -- a target for the Italian when he was in charge at Chelsea -- with Inter favouring a season-long loan deal with an option to sign the Belgium international permanently in 12 months' time.

 fecking Italian clubs man

Yep. Plus we already used 2 years of his prime which I'm sure factored into how much we initially valued him. There's no way he's worth as much as we got him for once you consider that we're trying to get rid of him for the very fact that he wasn't worth that.

Being more reliable than our other goalscorers is admittedly quite a low bar. Nevertheless, he is the best one we've got and will need to be adequately replaced.

Look, I really like the guy, but he’s never going to be good enough for United so we have to let him go and better to do that now when somebody is interested in buying him. I agree that we need to replace him but Inter are not likely to wait around and if they don’t buy him, who will?

No you need to listen to the podcast itself rather than linking me reddit link.

Ian McGarry and him were on a transfer podcast and it was Ian McGarry who said United has agreed a 100m euro deal for Dybala. Castles didn't say anything.
Oh OK, my bad then
