I thought Luckhurst was credible, When did things change?

He's always been an unreliable shit-stirrer as long as I've been following these. Always there with exclusives of all the players we "failed" to sign but never seems to get there early with any transfers we do actually make

Mata to leave as per Disco Mirror as he failed to agree to an extension.

Young, The Chuckle Brothers, Darmian, Lukaku and Matic would be a good place to start. Not really fussed who they bring in. This season is more about clearing out.

Can you show what he's gotten wrong? I'd like to learn in my evaluation of him too. I thought he was rated quite highly at least in my mind after he said an announcement of personal terms agreed with James is imminent at 10pm, and he was pretty much right as skysports broke the news the following morning.

With the James thing he actually claimed that at 22:00 on Tuesday 'we are going to announce we have begun talks to sign Daniel James and it has reached an advanced stage.'

Firstly this would be very unusual given how United typically conduct transfers. We pretty much always make an announcement when we have either agreed a deal with the club and/or when the player signs the contract. If we made announcements whenever we were in talks with clubs then we would be making dozens of them every transfer window. Secondly he was wrong, there was no announcement, literally nothing happened. You are giving him credit for him making a claim that was proven wrong within a matter of hours.

Other stuff that I have seen him post that makes me doubt him:

He said that in Solskjaer's final interview for the permanent role he wanted Young, Smalling and Jones all gone but to avoid excessive squad turnover we decided to offer them all new contracts and sell them gradually. Except that Young and Jones both signed new contracts over a month before Solskjaer was made permanent and Smalling signed his new deal before Solskjaer was even hired as the interim manager. So his narrative is not just implausible it's actually impossible.

He said that Mata, Pereira and Darmian could all leave for 'free' this summer. True enough in the case of Mata but United activated one year extensions with both Darmian and Pereira last season so if either of them leave we will receive a fee.

He constantly changes his position in response to whatever the latest rumours are. For example on the 15th of May Sancho was a 'top target', on the 19th any chance of a deal was 'dead' and by the 22nd the deal was 'back on'. Or for example on one day he wrote that 'Lukaku is staying' then the Italian press said that Inter have made a bit for him and he instantly reversed position to Lukaku could go. This isn't factually inaccurate like the above but, like his claim that Solskjaer is considering converting Rojo into a DM, it's to incredible to be believed without proof.

Of course the biggest reason to doubt him is that people pretending to be ITK about football transfers are ten a penny on football forums and I would only believe any of them if they had a decent track of being proven right. Which spoofex doesn't have.

The James news he pre-warned that it was based on multiple sources so he was piecing information the way it had come to him to give his own view on what it meant. His evaluation that there would be major James related news to be announced, and it specifically being that player terms are all agreed with the fee a formality was pretty much what BBC and Skyports ran with. This really points to his credibility rather than a blip on his record.

Jones is a weird case - IIRC some are claiming he was signed on a longer deal so we can actually get a fee for him rather than lose him for a free.

Mata hasn't completed a 1 year extension has he? Unless I have missed information, his contract is up right now.

Regarding Smalling Young and Jones contract offers - undoubtedly Ole would have been consulted on any offers. I'm unsure how it's inconsistent with his view to slowly offload them.

He gives fequent updates and our real approach isn't going to be a static one. There are moving parts and the dynamic changes frequently. I don't think it's a stick to beat him with because he hasn't really hung his hat on any news until he knows it's practically done (e.g. James, which he now says is pretty much done. AWB is one to follow, he claims this is likely to be done more swiftly and can be our first transfer). Everything else will undoubtedly be an ever-changing dynamic. Regarding Lukaku I think he's always maintained he's one they'd consider to sell but without buyers he's on the "one more year" list along with Martial to prove himself. Then Conte is announced and naturally the dynamic changes because now there's more likely to be a willing buyer.

Solksjaer on Rojo as DM? Feck knows, I'm here to discuss his view on transfers more than his insight on the tactical approach the manager is thinking. Sure it sounds pretty weird but if we actually retain Rojo over the summer it might point to Ole rating him. Which yeah, is weird, but still not enough to throw his credibility into the pan.

Lets see what is happening with DDG too - he seems pretty certain he's out.

And he was the one crying about how we should be fined or whatever for when we turned up late against West Ham due to being pelted by missiles from opposition fans. He ended up deleting the tweets after getting loads of abuse. He loves sticking the boot in.

Feels like Sanè isn’t for signing a new contract so City are looking to cash in before his leverage to force his way out for a smaller fee becomes too big. I don’t think it’s anything to do with ‘City being ruthless over attitude issues’. It’s a real shame because he has bags of talent, but it’ll give us some space to go and find another talent (hopefully!). Félix, anybody?

In that case we should cash in now and reinvest in a rebuild.
I believe we should cash in but for the right price, and not some miserly valuation.

If we can’t get the amount we want then I say hold on to him longer as Real Madrid will want him when Kroos declines.

He claimed that there would be an announcement that United were in advanced talks to sign James. The announcement did not happen. Several days later and it has still not happened. He also didn't say at that time we had agreed terms with the player. Sky said that the next day. You are taking what Sky claimed and attributing it to him for in some sort of attempt to make up for the fact that what he said would happen, did not happen. Also even spoofex himself has posted several times that this damages his credibility, which it obviously does.

Jones is a weird case - IIRC some are claiming he was signed on a longer deal so we can actually get a fee for him rather than lose him for a free.

I don't think you followed what I said at all here.

1. Mata's contract is up this summer, he can leave for free. Spoofex said that Pereira and Darmian can also leave for free. He is wrong, they can't.

2. Solskjaer wouldn't have been consulted on Smalling's contract offer because it happened before Solskjaer was even appointed as interim manager. Therefore the whole idea of Smalling contract's extension between some sort of plan between Solskjaer and Woodward to reduce player turnover is blatantly made-up.

Both of these things are simple, straightforward instances of spoofex saying something that is clearly not true.

He gives fequent updates and our real approach isn't going to be a static one. There are moving parts and the dynamic changes frequently. There's a difference between a dynamic approach to transfers and directly contradicting yourself every couple of days which I just showed you that spoofex does. A believable version of an ITK for example would acknowledge that United signing Sancho will be a slow and difficult deal to complete that requires overcoming multiple hurdles and he would have knowledge of exactly what those hurdles were and what approach United were taking to solve them. Spoofex literally just regurgitates whatever the latest rumours are, hack soundbite phrases included. Hence why his version of United attempting to sign Sancho is one week where the players goes from him being a 'top target' to the deal being 'dead' and then suddenly 'back on'. It's exactly what every ITK on every football forum and twitter does and it shows they have no real understanding of the transfer market or the approaches that professional clubs make towards player acquisition.

On this point I agree. At the moment spoofex has zero credibility in my eyes, if Rojo ends up being tried as a DM our pre-season I will be happy to admit he got that right. Likewise with De Gea, he recently claimed that United were expecting an offer from PSG 'any day now'. If that offer materialises soon then it will add to his credibility, if it doesn't then it will be a further knock against him.

You are really nit picking here - BBC and skysports both ran with the story that personal terms are agreed after Spoofex said there would be an announcement from the club. The club may have held off any announcement (for various reasons) but if BBC and Skysports run with the story after he's leaked the info it points to better credibility as far as I'm concerned.

I haven't seen his text about Pereira or Smalling, so I can't really comment on context without you showing it to me. Much of his leaks are to do with plans beyond this window (i.e. phasing out players over 2 windows, in which case yes Pereria and Darmien can very much leave on frees).

Contradicting yourself would be saying Lukaku is definately not leaving before saying he's off. He hasn't really done that with anyone - if anything he's pointed to Lukaku not being in Ole's plans as much.

The Sancho rumours are interesting because virtually every journalist in the past week have suggested the move is very much off. He's gone against the curve in saying it's back on and pointed to Dortmund being more open to selling after their recent splurge. I don't think that's a rehash of soundbites, it's actually sticking your neck out. With big transfers like Sancho it can very much be off and on over different days in reality. Clearly there is a lot of hurdles with club and player agreements but again, he hasn't stuck his neck out and said it's definately happening on anything bar James, DDG and to a lesser extent AWB. Lets see how DDG and AWB go - as far as I'm concerned he built credibility from James and deserves attention.

Also - lets not discuss Soofex' credibiltiy here anyway. I aplologise for taking it away from tweets.

Why do City want to sell him? Feel this may open up a space for Sancho if Pep has changed his mind on him.

Don't worry Dortmund will not sell Sancho this season to anyone. The signings of Brandt and Hazard have been funded completely through the 60 MP sale of Pulisic, and neither is going to make way for Sancho's exit as well.

Getting a bit worried.

We aren’t linked to any real improvements in attack outside of Sancho who looks like he’s staying with Dortmund.

We've got 2 months to go. I'd start worrying at the start of July if nothing has happened.

You're right.

Other than James, Felix, Pedro and Jovic in the last 24 hours there hasn't been so much as a whisper and it's almost the end of May already. What the feck are they at?

Hardly anybody reliable reporting those targets outside of James who’s a squad player at best. Isn’t Jovic already a Madrid player?

Nobody is reliable. It doesn't exist during transfer muppet season and you said we haven't been linked to anyone. All of those were linked at some point recently.

Jovic is still a Frankfurt player for now.
