Not the sort of money some other clubs are getting for their players. We are still near giving them away. We seem to break even on players and that is a good result, while other clubs can nearly double their money.
Lets not forget that Ole's the one who keeps blabbering on about Fergie and his methods.
So fans thinking otherwise shouldn't too surprised if we do bring in the likes of Rice and other homegrown individuals.
It’s much harder to get rid of deadwoods with high wages then those that are performaing well in the first team though.
Every possibility we've already done a deal for Sancho but nothing is being said as Dortmund are still in a title race. Anything about their current players being sold in summer coming out now will rock the boat and that'll hamper their chances of the title.
You are overestimating Woodward here. Doubt he even knows who Jadon is, probably still on the Gareth Bale case.
If Sancho isn't available then that's a problem. Big 'if' though, as I think they would for the right money. Especially if they win the league. But away from Sancho there's not any obvious RW options. We'll probably smash our record for Bale or something.
Then doesn't that say something about what state the club was in that we had/have to pay over the odds for people to come to us. We don't have the draw of the best manager in the world any longer.
Yes but I think that could well be lip service, saying what certain loud elements of the fanbase want to hear, I mean he's talked about youth products but we've seen very little of any of the quartet that are hyped up, even Greenwood who looked the best of the bunch couldn't make the bench the other night when the only forward option we had on there was a half fit Martial. City buying Rodri and us buying Rice will just be another contributing factor to us chasing their shadow.
De Gea, Pogba, Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez, Juan Mata and Ander Herrera could all leave the club this summer, and it would not shock me. Gotta make room for more local lads and English up and comers don't we?
As a United fan I wont be putting too much time on the potential of a Sancho deal .
I feel United will be making baby-steps in the upcoming transfer window and ,fundamentally, just building solid foundations for the season ahead.
I dont believe for one minute United will be spending upwards of a 100 million + ,as has been recently briefed .For one,that would be a daft move tactically in the transfer market to boast about ones wealth.

We're paying over the odds even for players like Lingard who is on 100k a week.

Which team got their pants pulled down over Neymar and then went on to spend 140 million on a Liverpool luxury player they no longer want after less than a year and spending months unsettling him, yeah that's right Barcelona.

There are options. Thorgan Hazard has had a brilliant season. Pepe, Malcom, Chiesa, Under, Neres, Bergwijn, Bertrand Traore (he's lost a bit of form recently, but he's still a promising player) and Chukwueze for example. I'd prefer Sancho to all of them, but it's not like there isn't anyone out there. Thorgan Hazard would be a good signing IMO, he can play multiple positions, so it wouldn't stop us for going for other players as well.

Of the one's I've seen, such as Under, Hazard, Chiesa I'm not totally convinced. I'd rather wait another year for Sancho, but that comes with it's own risks.
I've only seen highlights from games of the others and there weren't any that really made me think they were top quality. Bergwijn definitely not. I watched a bit of Malcom pre-Barca but it doesn't sound like he's done great there.
Never seen anything of Chukwueze!
You probably have seen more of these than me and may rate them to different extents, but are they good enough to say "if Sancho isn't available until next year then we move on and forget about him"?That's what bothers me.
As long as we do not sign Bale or Willian, then we should be happy.
Personally i never thought that Sancho would be available this summer, and Watzke's statement seems to confirm this.
What we do need is a creator on the RW, not a finisher like we have in Lukaku, Martial and Rashford. We need someone already used to be the main creator/initiator for a team.
If we are able to strenghten the other parts of our team to a degree that top 3/4 should be possible with some margin, then we could go for the likes of Chukwueze or Zaniolo. If not, then T. Hazard would be a good player to bring in.

I felt we should've made a move on Malcom last summer.For the type of direct player he was,and one with a great cross on him with either foot,I thought he would've complimented our attack very well. Would've got more out of Lukaku for instance.

I'm not convinced either and some like Chiesa or Bergwijn I haven't seen enough of, but waiting another year without addressing the #10 role or RW would cause us problems. I really want us try our utmost to get Sancho, but it really just might be the case that we won't get him this year, which shouldn't mean it's him or no one this summer. I don't think Hazard would be that expensive and his versatility wouldn't hamper us in signing someone like Sancho later.

I can see Barca moving for Sancho if they get rid of Coutinho. As for one the Englishman certainly fits their style better than the Brazilian.

We'd get the piss ripped out of us for having the B grade Hazard brother but I agree that Thorgan is a good player, he'd add some creativity, but I'd bet on him going to Dortmund in the summer, I'm sure there was something in the Pulisic deal that saw Chelsea reluinquish whatever rights they had in any potential Thorgan Hazard sale. I think rather than any of these though we'd be wiser getting a top false 9/#10 for the role at the tip of the diamond, unless Ole is planning on bringing in a different profile of #9 or Pogba is off and we are switching to a 4-2-3-1 in which case we need a both.
We definitely need a creator in the forward line, obviously we would still require them to be good for double figures in goals, but primarily we need an attacking fulcrum for Rashford and Martial to operate off.

Just wanted to point out that in case Sancho isn't happening this summer, that we've got options. You are probably right about the Dortmund move, I think, I've read it previously and it would be one of those smart signings that they usually make.

People just likes to have a go at Ed for the sake of it. He's proven to back the managers especially where younger players are concerned. Oles targets we are led to believe are with long term view so it's very obvious there will be business done.
