Didn't know that
Still wouldn't be against replacing Lukaku with Werner, no team in the world can have a 90 million striker on the bench and IMO Lukaku isn't good enough for a top team and he will never be.
Wouldn't mind that Jovic dude either but Werner being a United fan and considering his contract situation would be a great buy

FFS Replacing Lukaku with Werner :wenger::lol:

Werner has been in poor goalscoring form for the last two seasons, for Germany and RBL. Don't think he is as good as we thought previously.
I know he's not been in the greatest form but still 11 goals and 4 assists from 24 games as a striker is not that bad. Totally he has 16 goals this season, but yeah I've not been following him for some time, so I don't know how he's playing

Well we can if he's not bothered. Or is there a rule I'm not aware of.
It's just that it makes no sense to have a super expensive backup player. It's just my opinion and I'm not saying I'm right, but for me it just doesn't make sense especially when we are lacking in so many areas of the pitch
It's like having a Ferrari which you drive occasionally when you can barely pay your rent

We’re goong to lose big Dave and Pogba this summer, we’ll then rebuild a youthful team with Bale as experienced talisman. If we lose Herrera and Pogba then a complete rebuild (potnrially including Rice) will be a big challenge. I think we’ll need to keep Herrera

If we are planning on playing Rashford as our main striker, I think Werner is good enough to be back up.
You do realise we cant have a 90 million striker as back up right

And who says Rashford will be our main striker? If post Arsenal game showed anything is that Lukaku was written off all too early

Not going to be much help when he's in the treatment room for half the season. I suppose he can keep our other older injury prone players company.

The problem is that next summer his value will drop so unless he extends his contract the board and manager might just think he is worth getting a good fee for to strengthen the team in a number of areas. It is keeping Paul focused on United and doing his best if he does stay. If we can guarantee that, then fine keep him. If not, the last thing we need is a sulky Paul Pogba.
The euros are next summer, he'll be professional. If Pogba wants to go, United will have to get an adequate replacement. We have enough to sort out this summer. We have renewals and ingoings/outgoings to sort first. If we get our house in order we can sort out Pogba situation next season. Too much to fix at the moment.

Oh just the guy who is in charge, who thinks Rashford is one of the best strikers in the PL

"You can argue for many strikers but I'm glad he is in my team," said Solskjaer of the 21-year-old.

"No-one beats him on work-rate. No-one beats him on attitude."

"At the moment he is very confident in front of goal. He finishes. He tries to shoot. He doesn't think twice about it.
He is so calm and assured when he is finishing. That was the first thing I said to him when I met him. He had missed some chances and I said: 'No problem. You'll be all right, just settle down a little bit."'

And the United boss believes that in the absence of Tottenham's Kane, who is out until March due to an ankle injury, Rashford can be viewed as arguably the division's best forward.

"You can argue for many strikers but I'm glad he's in my team," Solskjaer told a news conference. "Harry Kane is injured so maybe that gives him a better chance to be the best one at the moment.

Manager talking positively about one of his players shocker

How small time can PSG get? Their whole club is petty excuse right from the very top to their fans. Imagine giving abuse to player who liked a tweet. Let alone to a guy who openly admitted he was a United fan.

Manager talking positively about one of his players shocker
That was much more than a manager talking positively about on of his players. Ole compared Rashford to the best striker in the world, which means he obviously rates him very highly.
Also in another interview he said he sees Rashford's futures as a striker and not a winger.

The Alexis transfer might be the worst in football history in hindsight given all the collateral damage it's done, players would wouldn't sniff giant wages elsewhere feel entitled to top 10 in the league money all of a sudden...

We are better offering that wage to Rabiot. He’s a better player and younger.

Sometimes, you need to walk away.

Linked with a Zaha return. We have 25% sell on clause so could be a cheaper option.

Think he'd be a good option if we can't get our top targets. We should be able to get him in one on one situations with our other options and he's very good in those positions.

Not necessarily. They will probably want more money so that with the clause the transfer ends up at what they value him at anyway.

They still get the same money regardless so I doubt that. It just means we get some money back.

Club x pays 50m Palace would get £37.5m and United would get £12.5m
If we bought for 50m Palace would get £37.5m and United would get £12.5m back.

I think though that the clause is likely 25% of profits rather than sell price but I'm not sure.

Zaha is hardly a bad suggestion.

We could do much much worse than a proven Premier league goal scoring threat on our non-existant right wing...

Just not sure how keen he'd be on a return given how things ended when he left

Denilson to Betis must be the actual worst considering inflation

Zaha would be an excellent addition to the team, a proven goal scoring PL midfielder who operates on the right side.

What could go wrong?

Zaha would become persona non grata very quickly if we signed him. He loses the ball so much. I guess we effectively get him half price with the sell on clause so at what £35m(?) it could be worth the gamble.

Pogba is a potentially consistent 15/20 goals/assists box-to-box midfielder. The only other midfielder in Europe who can produce similar numbers is Kevin De Bruyne.
Replacing Pogba with a similar player would be nigh on impossible, like it was impossible for United to sign a player who could influence us in the manner of peak Keane.

If Pogba were to leave we have to outlay his effectiveness through altleast two players.

Thing is, you could probably buy two if not three or four top young midfielders with Pogba fee. He has been absolutely fantastic the first 2-3 months under Solkjear and since he has been at the club has been our best outfield player....but has he in his time here justified cosistently being one of the best in the world or worthy of those fees.....add that to drama he seems to bring and if you could pick two or three players from Rice, Ascacibar, NDombele, Felix, Havertz, Guimaraes, Tonali for example as wonderful young players.

I am not saying it is the right or wrong thing to do but it is food for thought, this isnt replacing Ronaldo.

Personally I want him to stay but if he isnt commited, I dont think selling him is a bad thing if 2/3 quality replacements are bought. I think it is vital we keep DeGea as for me he is the best in the world in his position and shows it consistently.

ANd regarding Keane, we went down a different route Gattuso, Vidal and Davids were all at differnt stages of there career but could have been similar replacements, just as RObson was irreplacable but we got Ince and then Keane....none as good as Robson but all similar and good replacements. I think Pogba the player on paper is irreplacable, Pogba the player performance wise certainly isnt
