United and Liverpool both dropped a lot of points to lower level PL teams that use packed defenses to stifle attacking play and earn a point. Klopp will invest in Fekir, the best #10 available, to break down packed defenses and close the gap with City. Mourinho thinks a combination of Mata, Lingard, and Pogba playing the #10 role are good enough to break down packed defenses and close the gap with City. Mourinho will replace his defenders to give him a better chance at a scoreless draw and a point in the standings. Klopp will add a quality #10 to get the win and the 3 points. And some United fans don't understand why other United fans worry about the attitude and priorities of the manager.
First of all, we dropped a lot of points came down to our defence in the corner and set pieces. Liverpool couldn't break down the defence with Coutinho, what makes you think they'll break down again easily with Fekir?
We are upgrading a lot of position such as fullbacks, left-footed CM, CB leaders, RW and bench option like Taslica and striker backup. Toby, Sandro, Fred, Taslica, Sidibe/Caneclo and possibly other CM for rotation/competition, that would make United much stronger since United's 2006-2011 and would be strong in every department.
United have conceded more 8 goals than City from set pieces, this is big issues we need to improve. If we can do that, we can make sure we won't drop any point due to this. I think our creativity needs to improve more.
on Midfield. Pogba - Matic - Fred. Matic being DM, to cover space, tackle and intercept. Fred being 8/6 and also support Matic, cover more space, ball winner and is the conductor of midfield. Pogba as BB, playmakers in an advanced role and play higher. Talisco being a bench option to come off the bench if we need a goal with 30 minutes left, an upgrade to Fellaini that is more comfortable on balls and a good passer.
On defence, Sandro and the likes of Sidibe/Cancelo can take on players with dribbles and has better crossing and good going forward, would completely transform us into a different team with stronger width to support forward. Toby can play a higher line, comfortable on balls and can orangize defence, clam and read games so well. Toby is what we thought Lindelof would be. On other hands, midfielders won't need to drop deep to collect balls.
I can see United sides reaching 90+ followed by last season 81, it take a good transfer window to do this, can Liverpool do that? No progress made from last season in the league even with Salah scoring a lot of goals but less 1 point off than 2016/17.
This is too early call, we have to wait to see what happens next season.
