I think he has said it today when reporting on the Fred deal.
They never make anything up, it’s always sourced from somewhere. The Savic thing is from today’s news about Fred.

Alright - But still I think it's weird that we don't quote the direct article about Fred then mentioning Savic - Can any of you find that then? I'd still like to see him actually say it.

@Damien - Can we look into this twitter-source United Xtra. It's not really a source itself, but just apparently quoting other media like [Times], [Di Marzio]

I tried to find a source for Times to say we were signing 5-6 players, but it was nowhere to be found that they'd said such thing. Same thing with Di Marzio - I've just tried and scroll through Di Marzio's twitter for the last 5 days and there no mention whatsoever about us dropping out of Milinkovic because of 100m is too steep.

They quote a lot of sources and they do it often, but it seems as if not all are correct - I mean why not just get the straight source like quoting Di Marzio than United Extra "quoting" a "source"?

Because not everyone will pick up or read every line of the articles. ManUtd dropping out of SMS is reported by Di Marzio and also in the Guardian, it's in the Fred article.

Manutd looking to sign 6 players was mentioned in the times article.

I'm not trying to mislead, was always going to be a long shot with Savic when we have Pogba. No need to report me to the mods.
€100m is too much for a player that hasn't even played at the highest club level yet, Lazio also know this and they know they have to sell him this summer.

If we do sign him it will be €50m-60m with additional add-on's if we win certain trophies.

Lazio will never get €100m for him, especially considering only a couple of English clubs have that cash available.

Because that’s not how Twitter works. That would be such a pain in the ass and I’m glad they don’t do it. I trust whatever they tweet is reliable to the source and that’s good enough for me.

According to the OP rules it's banned, but people don't listen and keep on posting them. They don't even provide the links of their source.

Ah - I see the Fred article mentioning it now. Is Romano a 100% direct source to Di Marzio? It's just that it can be a bit misleading.. I still have never seen a trait of that Times article, but would very much like to see you or anyone find it. I don't actually believe it exists.

This is what the thread-rules say:
  • Post anything from aggregator sites (Utdreport etc) who don't link to original source and tend to make stuff up for retweets/follows.

If they were bullshitting and making up stuff no one would follow them and they’d be discredited. The fact is these accounts are invaluable because they put all the rumors in one place and it’s up to you to decide what to believe and what not to. I think it’s really weird people have a problem with it.

Thanks! I'm not the only one.. It's just that I want a good site with rumours that at least have some substance in form of a source quoted.. I'd read the Daily Mail if I purely wanted to read made up rumours

Somone posted the image of that article long back and it's behind paywall. You can check writtenoffmufc guy's twitter, he usually posts images from Times.

Also what these accounts do is very good, usually people skim through the article and misses out few things, these guys read everything and post it.

I'm not a fan and wouldn't post them, but they aren't made up.

It's pure bullshit to not include the link of the article especially with Twitter's new 280 word limit.

Fred Flintstone going to be our First transfer... not your typical Jose midfielder to be fair.

Just don’t think it’s required personally. These accounts know if they make something up they’ll get exposed and they’re done.

Direct source or a link to the direct source. Always, for me.

I think you're overrating people and how they'd unfollow if something is not true. They follow out of curiosity and gossip. Anyone can get a lot of followers on twitter - Kim Kardashian has 60.1 mil followers, but I still somehow don't believe that her photos are all natural.

KM said it - there's no reason/excuse why a source like United Xtra can't link directly to where their quotes are from.

They are repeaters, if something is said they post about it. That is why I had no problem posting their tweet on Savic. They don't make things up, as they are not the original source, they relay what is said/reported elsewhere.

Thanks for the help and I tried to check writtenoffmufc on twitter - still no sign of it from the last two months I've searched that twitter. I still really want to see the original article, but paywall or not, no one has actually linked/shown a picture of the article. In theory we could claim everything is from [Times] and say "oh.. its behind a paywall, so that's why - but I tell ya, its true"

Not sure why are you moaning about it so much. After Howson reported that we are looking for few players, next day Times reported it. I have seen the image, not sure whether they mentioned 5-6 players, they mentioned few names, Maybe these guys just counted and reported the number

Not moaning mate, just critical and want the direct source and to follow the rules of this thread. Twitter is a known place for bullshitting, so let's not get carried away but go for quality.

We’ll sign more players than last summer but don’t expect 6 signings. My guess is 4. Back up striker, Fred, left back and Alderweireld(clearly in for him).

You may be right on number of players but I’ll be very surprised if a right back isn’t signed.

Anyone else getting a bit excited by all of this ? If we have a massive summer and got Willian fred alderweireld sandro and a right back that would transform the way we play in my book.

Such an nothing article. I can‘t fathom how he managed to produce a few hundred words out of hot air. There is not even some wildly guessed speculation in it.

I respect Ducker, he is no bullshitter and usually first in line to be briefed by Utd. I assume his editor or sales department told him to churn out another Utd article today to keep those clicks coming.

Thats how it works

Still one CM light but most certainly a big improvement.

Wonder when Twitter will give us some signings to be excited about? Seems we’re heading for an aged team by the time Jose will get the boot! DoF is badly needed by the club...

What aged squad? The oldest attacker in the team is 29 yr old. The oldest midfielder is also 29-30. Fullbacks are aging and we are looking at younger replacements

I don't understand this moaning about age at all.
