Pogba has some maturing to do I agree, but to me the clear issue is Mourinho as none of these issues came up under Allegri, Conte or Deschamps, I mean his stats defensively in this World Cup are very good and he's playing in a midfield 2, something that at United will never work as long as we pair him with slow, immobile players like Matic and Fellaini, to play him in a two you are gonna need a dynamic ground swallowing shuttler, much like how Chelsea just bought Jorginho and Kante will be vital to getting the best out of him just like his partnershp with Allan was important at Napoli, combination-wise we've not paired Pogba with midfielders that compliment him or that he compliments.

I can't really fault that. I also think we need that type of midfielder, not just so Pogba can shine. The issue probably didn't come up at Juve because he wasn't expected to deliver as a 90m marquee record signing but a steal on a free. With France, take away Kante and I'm not sure he'd blossom. I'm not in the Mourinho-out camp, so for me the solution is 1) Pogba needs to grow up. 2) If there is even a slightest remotest one in a million possibility of Kante being sold, whatever the price, we should be all over that.

Of course, the annual PSG left-back purchase. They’d look for one even if they had Roberto Carlos starting with peak Marcelo as a back-up.

We only have a single LB with Kurzawa and never had a really convincing one since Maxwell retired.

Young/Shaw as our LB options for yet another season. It's crazy, just crazy.

At least we are all set on our RB position with Valencia and the new kid. We are ready to strike fear into ourselves instead of our opposition.

Deschamps has had issues with Pogba even as recently as a few days to the World Cup. Conte and Allegri played with a young Pogba surrounded by world class players and mentors like Pirlo, Vidal, Buffon etc. He had limited pressure and leadership responsibilities at Juventus. There is a world of difference between that and being a 90 million pounds buy by a club you left as a kid. When Pogba joined us, the talk was about him being the star man, the guy whom the team was to be built around for the next few years. That was and has been tremendous pressure for the young man. I think it is unfair to entirely blame Mourinho for Pogba's less than stellar performances for United and not give him a single credit for his stellar performances at the World Cup.

Some drama queens in this thread.

Listen, Jose's job is on the line here. If he doesn't get his sh*t together, he will be out of the door. He is meticulous and will be working with Woodward to do what needs to be done.

Just be patient and see what happens before the transfer window closes. I personally ignore 99% of transfer rumours as they're rubbish.

I'm sure we'll see another couple of signings at least.

Sandro going to PSG. I can't believe we've not made serious headway in signing a top full back. Beyond disappointed.

3)We get a manager that knows how to nurture players like Pogba, Martial, Rashford and Shaw, that is my solution and ultimately where I think things will end up, it's just a matter of time.

I didn't entirely blame Mourinho but yes, I think he is to blame for the issues in loss of form and confidence we saw in Pogba, Martial and Rashford last season, his toxic personality is no good for young players that need support when they have dips. The credit for the performances at the World Cup are down to Pogba's talent and Deschamps man management of him, the talent has always been there, Mourinho just can't harness it properly.

I think that's called a dietitian. I agree, he needs one. OT: I'm still in the Jose camp.

Shaw didn't look overweight last season and he doesn't look overweight in the training pictures so far, but he's clearly mentally not the strongest and Mourinho has no idea how to deal with players that aren't in the Valencia, Matic, Terry etc....camp.

There were times last season where he looked quite a bit too heavy. The recent training pics are nothing to write home about. I will agree with you that Mourinho isn't ideal for many personalities, but I also think there should be specific requirements in terms of mentality if you want to play for United and that Shaw clearly does not fit that profile. If you have the chance to become United's main left back for the next years and you don't grab that opportunity with all you've got you aren't cut out for it.

Shaw's mentality is no different to players like Nani and Anderson but Fergie man managed them and in the case of Nani we got quite a lot out of him. At this point in time the only way Mourinho's fan club will get what they want is if we stock up on older players that he doesn't have to manage on a personal level, and get rid of the likes of Shaw, Pogba, Martial and Rashford, as we are currently in this weird place where two complete opposites are meeting in an awkward middle, with what Mourinho really values vs what the club values, and it doesn't work.

@Devil may care
Yeah, different times. I accept that different managers have different approaches. I'd hope that if a youngster is talented enough Mourinho would persist with him and guide him. Nani was a super super talent. I'm not sure Mourinho would have just discarded him if he was at United now at Shaw's age. It's not like he was for one moment not fit enough.

Aye, you know what this comes down to. You want Jose out and I still believe that he's a top class manager working with mainly average players (compared to where we want to be).

I can see from your tag that you are talking to someone who claimed he wasn't supporting Man Utd anymore, after we signed Lukaku.

Ignore him. Worst poster ever.
