Vrsaljko was poor at Atletico, he was going to be sold this summer anyway, Atletico must be mouthwatering right now thinking about how overpriced the sale will be. Not good enough for United at all, at least from what I expect for United. The kind of signing Inter would do.

Might also have something to do with the fact that van der sar isnt the greatest negotiator. Rookie vs pro’s at the negotiation table.

Good deal though. Lets hope Chong or tfm break into the squad soon or there will be no Dutch players left at united :(

5 assists in 22 apps is not too bad at all. Can't remember the amount of clean sheets Atletico kept but I know it was a high number. So what made him so poor?

My guess is it’s a form of flattering for United to be linked with everyone we’re linked with.

Not sure if it's a form of flattery or it's a way to "appease" the fans even though they don't plan on buying anyone worth while for the rest of this summer window

Who appease the fans by showing them food but never feeding them? Are you referring to Wenger low bid strategy then buy shite alternative?

I've got to say that United should be publishing similar memos like these

The problem with standard denials like these, is that when the rumour is true, you're in a tricky situation. You either deny it, only to be shown up as a liar, or you ignore it, effectively telling the world that you are interested and thus weakening your negotiating position.

A blanket response of no comment, gives no clues as to our position, and gives the nonsense in the media exactly what it deserves, nothing.

I guess you’re entitled to your opinions, as wrong as they may be.
It's wrong in your opinion. In mine it's not. Kante is over rated, a great player but limited in so many ways.
Would be interesting to see him in Barca colours.

Kante was (again) our best player last season. He's also been quite easily France's best midfielder this summer and has (along with Matuidi) allowed your very own Pogba to flourish and look like the player you guys have been calling for him to be since he returned.

Honestly don't know what youve been watching.
Hazard was by far better than Kante last season, Matuidi and Pogba have been the heartbeat of the French team, I've been watching football.
Would Chelsea let Kante go, is he a sarri type of player do you think?

No. Kante is farm more important to France's success than the other two. Absolutely mental to think otherwise.

It’s really not. In my opinion Kante’s a great player with a great engine but a very limited footballer. I know which player I’d rather have in my team.

If Vrsaljko is for sale, would he be worth us looking at? I know LB is priority but he looked decent in the WC and at 26 is an ideal age.
I don't think we're after RB anymore. My guess is we're not after any full backs after Dalot's arrival.

I think we are quietly going on about our business - with a solid list of RW targets and waiting for someone to knock down the first domino. RW will be our last signing of the summer.

Kante is every manager in the world's type of player.

Kante is every manager in the world's type of player.
You'd think so, given that Kante is the second best ball winner in the game after Casemiro.

However Sarri plays a 3 man mid with 3 technically gifted CMs and he literally never plays a 2 man mid - a role where Kante shines. It's safe to say from regular Napoli watcher perspective that it is entirely within the realm of possibility that Sarri is insane enough to sell Kante

If you ask me, we should sell one of our CBs and buy a CB with very high potential like Skriniar. I'm not sold on Maguire but I haven't seen him play much.
We should ask Alderweireld to hold on for a few more months and renegotiate with Levy in the winter transfer window (if we are planning on playing 3 at the back). He should be available for 35 million.

So that's a good recoup for Dailey. May be we could get that much more for Darmian as well. Who else is getting sold next? Smalling, Jones or Rojo?
Don't think we will be selling any of our CBs.
Darmian may fetch 12 million pounds I guess.
So a total of 6.5 + 14 + 12 = 32.5 million from sales.
That leaves about 120 million pounds which I hope we use to buy a LB & CB. Don't think we can afford a RW

Can't see us selling Rojo to be honest.

I know he is erratic and injury-prone but he looked good before his knee injury.

Plus he just signed a new contract in March (till 2021 - with the option of a further year)

The constant links to CBs suggests to me that we're looking at a permanent switch to 3-5-2

(But that's a discussion for another thread)

Have to feel for the poor blighters, wanted Fred, ends up with us, wanted Jorginho, ended up with Chelsea. Maybe they'll actually need to start offering the money other teams do and stop believing people are desperate to play for Manchester City.

It would suit valencia and young but we probably don't have the ball players at the back to make it work yet.

Funny that they're trying to be all moral about player fees given they're the ones who made 50M fees for England players the norm.

I thought the contract was to make sure we got something for him.
Nah, Mourinho likes Rojo. His old contract was to expire in 2019 anyway so if we wanted rid we could still have sold him this summer without giving him a new contract. The new contract is a sign we want him to stay.

Manchester United offered €32m for Bonucci, PSG is interested too [La Repubblica]

If true, we might see more of the 352 next season. Would explain our continued rumoured interest in Perisic - i think he is Jose top choice for the LWB position in a 352.
